What you can do with Caring
About Brookdale Wilmington in Wilmington, North Carolina
At Brookdale Wilmington we know that memory losses due to Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia are progressive and residents' needs are continually changing. That's why we provide balance in our residents' capabilities, personalities, and preferences to create daily routines that enhance their spirits and increase their sense of purpose. We believe the amount of satisfaction our Alzheimer's and dementia care residents receive from the tasks that fill their days goes a long way to maintaining their sense of purpose and overall satisfaction with life. An integral part of this is our promise to encourage each resident to find Daily Moments of Success. To help our residents achieve these moments, our associates receive the tools and training needed in such key areas as specialized dining and the ongoing monitoring of healthcare and behavioral needs, to name a few. We provide Alzheimer's and dementia care residents with the lifestyle, housing, and services they need in comfortable surroundings combined with the amenities, programs, and care to help stimulate recognition, recall, and wellness in a safe environment. Through years of caring for individuals with dementia, our professional care staff has learned to create optimal surroundings and approaches to care. Familiar environments that our residents have enjoyed throughout their lives are recreated to help them feel reassured and comfortable. The Alzheimer's and dementia care programs at Brookdale Wilmington are built to embrace, not restrict our residents' desire to wander and to provide a sense of belonging. To learn more about this provider's license and review other available state reports, please visit: North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation Licensed Facilities

Brookdale Wilmington was a very nice place, but very expensive. It's down the street from Oleander. It's off Shipyard Boulevard and Independence. It is in a very ideal location, and the whole place was nice. It was just very nice inside. The residents smiled at you and waved. I wanted to move my wife there until they mentioned the price. I only got to talk to the director of admissions. The facilities and amenities were great.

The one we toured for my mother was Brookdale Wilmington. I was very impressed. The lady who I met was very nice. Her name was Jessie, and she was super nice. She gave me the tour and gave me a lot of information. It's a very clean and nice facility. At this point, we're considering it, we just haven't made our decision yet. The staff were all very nice. The individual rooms were a little small, but other than that, they're very nice. They have a salon and a courtyard. It seems very secure. It's close to the hospital, too.

Brookdale Wilmington was laid out in a square around a common area. It's a very nice place and we liked the fact that it was only memory care. It's a very small community and it seemed to be well kept up. I enjoyed the tour. It was thorough. They showed us all around the whole place and we met the chef. They had private rooms and rooms with roommates. They had chair exercises and bingo for their activities.

The Brookdale Wilmington facility was much better than what I expected. I can't remember who I talked with the day we went there, but I explained to her that we were looking at Brookdale as the end-of-the-line situation because it is for severely cognitively distressed or incapacitated patients. My mother is okay now still but Brookdale is definitely on our radar down the road or if we get to that point with my mother. They handle all that comes with Lewy Body dementia. Their rooms were a good size and the facility was clean. They allowed the patients the freedom to walk around and they seemed to treat them well. The patients were well-groomed and seemed to be relaxed when we were there. It was a good facility, it's just that it's not the level of care that she's at right now. It's an Alzheimer's and Dementia freestanding building on Converse Drive and the person who showed us around was amazing. She was very passionate and allowed us the freedom to look at what we wanted to look at, and was not pushy at all. It was not a brand-new facility but it was very good.

Memory care is all Brookdale Wilmington has, and they seemed to be very engaging with their residents. The person who gave the tour was knowledgeable and understanding. Meals are included, as well as full care of the residents, and it's a total lockdown unit. So, residents can't get out, but they have an outdoor area that they could go to. The place itself seemed clean and modern. It was brick and was a nice facility. I would definitely consider putting my mother in there. I was very impressed with their presentation. They took the time to show me the facility and introduced me to staff.

I recommend Brookdale Wilmington to anybody because I loved what I saw. I saw their dining area, their staff being one-on-one with the residents, and their activities. They have doctors that come in daily, as well as therapy dogs. I was amazed by the facility. If my mom hadn't gotten so bad at the time, they would have taken her.

I wouldn’t put my dog there . The bathrooms sewer backed up , they had to share a community shower , the staff left bruises on my mom and had to take her to the doctors. The nurses over medicate and all the staff were rude including the management. I would stay away.

Everything was great at Brookdale Wilmington. The grounds are fantastic. They have double doors, which are great for security. It was wonderful. Everything inside was clean. They have great materials and items for residents with those types of disease process. They have baby dolls and diaper changing station for the women, and they have gardening for the men. Brookdale Wilmington is amazing, but unfortunately, my dad requires full-time nursing care 24 hours a day now. The staff was exceptionally intelligent, very well presented, and very informed about her program. We got to watch a couple of emergencies that took place while we were there. How they handled that was very impressive. Aperson breached their security, and within 10 seconds, there were 15 staff members all over it. That was amazing! They did a fantastic job.

Brookdale Wilmington seemed very nice and very clean. The patrons seemed to be well taken care of. Their rooms seemed to be nice. The staff showed us the garden and the activity room and told us some of the activities that they have there for the patients.

Brookdale Wilmington was more restrictive as far as where the residents can go but had more memory care than other places I visited. I was turned off of it because of what the marketing person who met with me said regarding getting my mother to an assisted living facility. She had a dozen different ways to lie to my mother and deceive us. That turned me off. The fees were very expensive. The rooms were typical and adequate, but overall, I was not impressed. The dining room looked nice. Nothing stood out.

The staff at Clare Bridge all seemed friendly and supportive. The rooms were very nice and they would fit my brother's needs. They had various activities not only inside the home but also outside the facility.

My grandmother is living in this nursing home and from the times I've spent visiting her and the times I've heard my grandmother talk about it, it sounds like a really nice place. I know my grandmother was very surprised to see that all the caretakers who worked there were prompt, polite, and above all treated her with the respect and dignity that she deserves. My grandmother wasn't excited about being put in a nursing home but the longer she has stayed there the more she enjoys it. Every time I visit there, I can see all the hard work and dedication the caretakers have here, despite any upsets some of there residents put up. They understand how to treat the elderly and I never thought I'd say this but if I had to be put in a nursing home, the experience I've had here would make me feel more at ease. Knowing that there are people who are willing to dedicate there lives to making sure the elderly live the lives they want, instead of cooping them up in there rooms, brings a smile to my face. Especially when I see my sweet grandmother being treated with the care and love her own family would show.

When my MIL was admitted to Clare Bridge, the staff and facility director did everything in their powers to get her the very last room they had because they knew she needed to be in a facility like thiers. The staff, accomidations, food, and activities are all above average. Their pricing I felt for the services that they provided were very reasonable. Anytime that the staff was taking the residences on an outing, (and you were only suppose to go 2 times a week to let everyone have a chance) they always let my MIL go with them because they knew she was a higher functioning Alz/Dem resident and needed the outings. They bent over backwards to make her feel at home there and I would highly recommed Clare Bride of Wilmington to anyone in the area looking for an Alz/Dementia facility. Unfortunately my SIL removed my MIL from here just because my MIL keep sayng she "wanted to go home". so now she is living at home alone against dr's orders. Nothing we can do about it tho.
