My mom moved into Southern Pines Gracious Retirement Living, and she just fell in love with it. She has a two-bedroom apartment with a large living room, a kitchenette, and a balcony. The place is spotless. They have just done some renovations, so there is new carpet, new painting, and new light fixtures. It was very nice. The managers that we met were all wonderful to my mom. The people in the hallways were stopping and talking to her. They have friendly people who live there. They have a coffee and fruit snack bar. They play bridge. We met the activities director, and she was awesome. It has been really welcoming. You bring your own furniture. The kitchenette has a refrigerator and a sink. My mom hasn't complained about anything. The staff members are friendly and professional. I was really impressed by how they knew different people's names, what they liked, and what they didn't like. The maintenance guy remembers me, and I only met him once. He checked on some things that we had asked about having done to the apartment. We had lunch when we were looking at it, and it was delicious. It was restaurant-style. You have two different entrees you can choose from. They also had a couple of different options for dessert. They post the meals every day, so you know what to expect. They have bingo and bridge. They have a special program in a different country that you might cruise to. Every Friday, there's an excursion that they can take.

We toured Southern Pines Gracious Retirement Living. I'm not that familiar with it yet, but I was very pleased with it. It's very clean, very friendly, and there are many old people just like me. The staff, the ones I met were excellent. It looks to me like they were doing a great job with the kitchen and the dining room. I heard nobody complaining, so that's good. The food was fine. I only toured two studios and they were great.

We toured Southern Pines Gracious Retirement Living. There's no huge amount of money you have to put up for a room. It's rent by the month, and the place is very friendly, has a warm atmosphere, and all the people there seem great. We like it very much. The food is good and we like the whole place. It was great. Everything's included like meals. They even have emergency tags that you wear around your neck. The linens are included. They have housekeeping. Anything you can imagine. It's all included, which is nice. Tim was very helpful, informative, and very friendly.

I used to live at Southern Pines Gracious Retirement Living. I loved it. The people that were there were all my family. It was just wonderful. The people that work there were absolutely wonderful, too. They did their best. Whatever you needed, they got it done. They provide housekeeping, all your meals are included, and they have special events. In fact, they just got through having one for Veteran's Day, and that was just absolutely stunning. They have a beauty parlor there, and they have a van that will take you anywhere you need to go for appointments or shopping, and that is all included. They have so much. In fact, if my lease is up here, I'm hoping to get back in there. They have very good food. You have three meals a day and a snack. Everything is just very good. The physical appearance of it is beautiful. In fact, they have just remodeled everything. They put in new carpeting and new painting. It's really nice. I go there twice a week at least to visit my family. That's what they were to me when I lived there, they were my family. So I go at least twice a week and sometimes three. The gal they have there doing the activities is marvelous. We didn't have that when I lived there, but they have it now. In fact, they even let me join in. They have bingo and they take trips. On Fridays, they go someplace on a trip and then they have lunch out. They really have a good time. They are a little expensive, but they're not as expensive as a lot of them out there. It runs about $2,500 a month, and some of them I know would go up to $5,000 a month, but they're at $2,500. However, all your meals are included, housekeeping is included, laundry is included. You don't even have to clean up your room, they come in and do it for you once a week. It's wonderful. I don't feel old when I go there. I'm 85, but I don't feel it because they're very active, they keep you happy, and they keep you smiling. They have guests come in like boys choirs and singing. It's just wonderful. I can't say enough.

Mom will be moving in at Southern Pines Gracious Retirement Living tomorrow. We chose this facility because we wanted her inside a building with minimal walking that she could get to everything. She'll have a 2-bedroom apartment on the second floor. Upon entering the apartment, there's a huge closet to your right with sliding doors. The jack and jill bathroom is to the left. There's a living area, and a nice deck outside that she can put chairs on. They completely recarpeted and repainted the whole apartment. She can just go down the elevator to go to her meals or to play games. She can go up to the library or she can go to the chapel. Everything is right there. They provide linens, towels, and they give her a cleaning woman every 2 weeks to clean her apartment. We like this place because they provide everything. It's all there. The staff who gave me the tour was fabulous. Right now, they are in the process of completely putting in all new furniture in all the common areas and all new flooring.

We have chosen Southern Pines. We are pleased with the accommodations, we are pleased with the cost of the change, and we are pleased with the services they offer. They have a 2-bedroom-2-bath, and they have access to medical services if we might need them. They have a beautiful library and an exercise room. They have some outside areas but no swimming pool.

We love Southern Pines Gracious Retirement Living for my father. It's been really, really good. They've been an excellent choice. I can't say enough good stuff about it. It is not perfect, nothing's perfect, but it's nice. They serve three family style meals a day, which means he doesn't have to cook. He has a little kitchenette with a refrigerator and a microwave so he can have stuff in his room if he wants to. They have a lot of different activities and transportation if they need it. It's a nice, clean, pleasant place, and the decor is beautiful. It is always dress for every season and every holiday.

Southern Pines basically had everything we wanted. It had cottages, a good location, and a lot of activities. Residents had the ability to visit other sites owned by Hawthorn so that you could travel and stay at no additional cost since you have already paid at your home location. They have other sites in quite a few places all over the country, so that is certainly attractive. We looked at lovely cottages. There was no problem bringing in our dogs. If we wanted to bring them, we could put up a fence.

My mother moved into Southern Pines Gracious Retirement Living two or three weeks ago. Our initial reaction is very positive. It seems to be a very warm and caring community. The people who live there absolutely love it there. My mom’s experience has been good so far. They have three meals a day provided, a lot of activities, and provide transportation for shopping, special events, doctors; appointments, and things like that. I am very glad she is there.

My mom is in Gracious Southern Living (Southern Pines). It is a very well-organized senior living community. They have lots of variety of classes and things to do. It is clean. She already has lots of friend. She participates in lots of classes. She enjoys the food. They have three meals a day. She feels safe and secure. She has nice porch she can sit on. They allow her to have bird feeders and wind chimes. It is working out well. The management seems to take care of the questions in a timely manner. I have not had any issues with the maintenance. The maintenance worker, Mike, has been fantastic. When my mom puts a work order in, he is there in an orderly manner. They do not call lunch. They call on dinner. I think they can really work on a little bit faster service. I think an hour and a half dining experience every day can be considered a little bit too much. I think there have been some suggestions of different menu items. I have eaten there a few times and listened to some of the residents. I think the chef can look at some other items. I am sure he gets bored cooking the same stuff all the time. However, everybody is really nice. She is really has come out of her shell. My mother is not really social. In her big house, she is all by herself; now she has friends. It has been life changing for her, and she has been there a couple of month. I can see in the next few months even better things happening.

Southern Pines Gracious Retirement was beautiful. However, I didn't choose that one because I thought they were just a retirement community and not assisted living. It had a very friendly environment. The staff who accommodated me was wonderful. The rooms were very nice. That was probably my favorite facility as far as the appearance of the facility was concerned. Everything was excellent. They provided nice meals. They had a nice menu with lots of variety, and it was balanced. The dining area was beautiful. I would recommend them to others.

We’ve been to Southern Pines Gracious Living. It was just quite nice all the way around. It was clean, well-kept, and well organized. The staff we met was quite nice. It’s only a couple of years old.

The staff at Southern Pines was fine and gracious. The apartments are roomy, airy, and nice. It did not have kitchen facility, but they did have a refrigerator. They have some organized fitness programs and a gym with equipment like treadmill. The rooms were mostly nice 1-bedroom and there is no entrance fee.

Mother has been living in Southern Pines for a year now and she has a great apartment. It has two bedrooms and two baths at half the price of what it is here in California. The staff is great. The food is good but the restaurant service is very slow. It takes forever to get served, meaning an hour or an hour and a half. They don't have activities although they do have Tai-chi which is great and my mother is doing it twice a week.

I found out about Southern Pines Gracious Retirement Living from the newspaper. They had houses and apartments for rent. But there was no healthcare involved unless you break a leg and somebody came in but you had to pay for everything. We had lunch there and the food was very good. I would recommend this facility if it fit the needs.
