My mom has been staying at Avante at Reidsville. She's doing great and the place is awesome. It's easy to go around, but the place has a smell down the hall. My mom does a lot of physical therapy and all the women love her. She is babied and they dote on her. Pat, the nurse, is just awesome, and does everything for my mother. She's great and we're very happy. They have a library, workout room, a room where you can just go to sit, talk, and watch TV, and a really nice dining room. They also have a salon where she can get her hair and nails done, and she's really happy about that.

Food is always cold. A few very unfriendly staff members....not all. Long waits.

I am a relative of a patient who is there. This place is not suitable. Whatever you do, please do not put your loved ones there. It is depressing, the spaces are confined, patients have to sit in wheelchairs if they are it in bed, no recliners, they do not know what a low to no sodium diet is and why do the patients get a sandwich (processed meat) and sides for dinner. I thought they were packing lunches for kids to go to school. There are so many more issues that it is just to much to write.

Please whatever you do, do not send your loved one here. The complaints are too many to write in one review. Letting my relative go for a day with a broken arm before getting help, having only jello for dinner. Forgetting doctor appointment for suture removal after a surgery. Getting MRSA while there are just a few.

All in all, this place is kind of what you would expect from a nursing home. It's a place that has to exist, but we wish it didn't, and everyone there has to deal with chronic illnesses day in and day out. Most of the staff is nice, but they are a little overwhelmed (there are just too many patients in there for the number of nurses that work there). This leads to some things being ignored- i.e. my grandfather not being properly turned and getting bed sores (which is something that is easily remedied). Also my grandmother has had to hire someone to sit with my grandfather during the day hours (9am - 1pm) so that there is someone there specifically to cater to his needs. She felt like he was not getting the attention he needed on a daily basis (ex- it was taking too long for someone to come around to feed him- they were sometimes over an hour late on the lunch schedule) so his aid takes care of those things now. But, on the bright side, the nurses and management are very personable and reliable; they do the best they can with what they've got.
