Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living was nice. Everything is included in one price. The food's very nice. The staff was also very nice. They gave me a proper tour and I enjoyed it. They had one bedroom, two bedrooms, and studios. They had quite a number of activities and of course, they all had gyms. They take some trips if you want to go to close facilities like grocery stores.

We went to tour Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living and it was just a good experience. I thought it was really very pretty. There are old trees and the setting was very pretty. They had nice grounds. The residents had developed gardens in their front yards, which I thought looked nice. It felt very welcoming. We saw lots of interaction among people in the halls, people in the dining room, people doing all sorts of things, and sitting outside talking. It just felt like it promoted community living well. Their concept is you have an apartment there and as you age, you have care in your apartment. You don't have to move to another part of the facility as you need a higher level of care. We saw their library, the dining room, and the movie theater. The residents seemed happy and animated. It was appealing from my point of view. There's nobody to meet you at the front desk. There's no front desk. And so, I had to go look for people to talk to because there was nobody. They don't have a concierge or a central welcoming station.

Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living is close to my dad's sister and friends. It is a first-floor apartment and a newer place. It is close to the cafeteria, and you will be taken care of there. They have bingo. The price is in my dad's range.

A loved one will be moving into Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living. The staff was very courteous, very friendly, and professional. They greeted us on time when we arrived, and the walk-through of the facility was very nice. Everything was clean, and it was a newer place, which we really liked. We liked the size of the place and that it was next to a community and not just a building set far away from the community. They had the opportunity to have kitchens or kitchenettes, and in this particular case, we chose the kitchenette because they included food services there, and we really liked that. It was an easy walk from the bathroom to the bedroom, and she was older and had a harder time walking. In some of the locations we saw, you had to walk into the living room and around the kitchen to get to the bedroom or bathroom, and we did not like that for her particular situation. This one had a balcony, and we were looking for something like that too. We thought that the price was very reasonable and comparable to the pricing of the other units. It also had a very good elevator service that went right to the unit, so the location of the unit was the primary reason for that part of the choice as well. The dining area was very pretty. It had an open, spacious layout -- probably more so now because of COVID -- so there was a lot of room that was still available. You are allowed to have the food delivered to your room, or you could go and be seated in the dining area. The newness of the place is what caught us. We are paying a bit of a premium for that, but it gave us that, and so for us it was paying a little bit extra to make sure all the features and fixtures were really nice, updated, and upgraded. The big part also was some of the other locations had higher, tougher carpeting, which was not good for a senior who has a little bit of mobility trouble, such as is the case with us; she could not lift her feet as much. So, there would be these wooden planks and then this higher carpeting, and this location does not have that. There are big windows with lots of sunlight. Joel was the individual who was helping us; he helps to get people signed on. The contract process was very easy, he was very helpful, and the turnaround on the contract was quick, which we needed as well. So as far as administrative things go, there was a lot of follow up, there were a lot of return calls, and things just moved along very quickly for us, which is what we wanted. We have not tried a meal yet, but they did show us the menu and talked to us about how they change over the menu so that it is not always the same thing. They try to keep it as seasonal as possible. It was very beautiful and nice. They have mostly walk-in showers, which we really liked, and in her case that was something necessary. She is moving in for independent living with the ability to go to their assisted living, which is another thing we liked about this particular location.

We went to Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living and it did seem like a nice place. It seemed like a very nice community with nice common areas. It seemed to be modern, the rooms appeared very nice, they have studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and the people who showed us around were friendly. They seemed to have a common cafeteria, kitchen area, and a separate kitchen area if you want to have guests, and it seemed like a nice area. They have transportation if you need to get to the doctor.

My parents are residents of Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living. It's a very nice place, but it's not an assisted living community. You can shop for assisted living services through their affiliate in-home-care company, which is what I have been using. Our experience with them has been excellent, it's been a really well-managed community, the food is excellent and the people is super. Once a week they have an outing. They take the residents on their own shuttle bus out on different field trips, they take them out to local malls and to and fro doctors' appointments. They have a lot of activities in terms of crafts and they have an activities coordinator that sets up cooking classes, movies, crafts and all kinds of things for the residents. They also have a game room, library, computer room, a gym, and just about everything you could want. I have worked very closely with the staff and they have been very accommodating with everything that we've needed. They have a gourmet cook that does a super job, and there's a lot of variety. The staff has been excellent too, and the activities are a lot and well-planned. It's not really cheap to live there, and in the course of the time my parents have been there, they have raised the prices a good bit. The facilities are excellent, they keep the building clean and it's well-decorated inside. In fact when you walk in, it doesn't even look like a senior community, it looks like a fancy hotel.

Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living was a great place. The staff was awesome, gave us a great tour, and served us lunch. It was a great experience. The place was kept up really well, clean, and smelled nice. The staff brought us to a room occupied by a gentleman. It was a handicap-accessible room, but it wasn't homey looking and it had a little bit of a pee smell to it. They should have shown us a nicer room because first impression is important. Other than that, everything was nice. I saw some ladies getting their hair done, and I know they do activities like card games.

Whispering Pines is bigger and nicer than other places we looked at. My mom is there. Everything is nicely decorated. They have lots of beautiful art, too. The residents are mostly happy, and everybody seems happy with the food. The rooms are good size. Their price is either at market or a little below. The community itself is a fairly good size with 150 apartments. They have four or five activities every day. They go on trips and take you to the doctor. It is an all-around good place. I'm very pleased with it. I would give it a 5, especially after I looked at other communities.

The tour at Whispering Pines was excellent, and it was very thorough. They had just about every amenity you could imagine, and even a theater. I did have a meal there, and the food was very good. They have a nice community gathering room, and the facilities are beautiful. It’s independent, and they do have the option of in-home care if you need it, but it’s a separate arrangement. The room options were apartment type with a studio, 1-bedroom, or 2-bedrooms.

Whispering Pine was very nice. It was very clean, open, and airy. It was a pretty new facility -- maybe 2 years old -- and they had nice staff. However, everybody has to enter the dining room at the same time, and they seemed to be understaffed in the number of servers that they used to wait on people.

My dad is happy in a ground-level apartment in Whispering Pines. He loves it. The food is excellent. The people and staff are great. They have managers who live there. It offers good activities and a caring environment. Wendy, Chris and Jed, the manager, have been super helpful in terms of helping him get acclimated to the surroundings. It is very nice.

Whispering Pines is a beautiful, new community, under two years old. The setting is really nice, sitting back in a wooded area. They have nice trails around the facility, outdoor gardens, and beautiful patio with a big fire pit that the residents can use. The staff there has been excellent, so friendly, and helpful. The building itself doesn’t look like a retirement community. It’s much more updated, and everybody that we’ve run in to say that they just love it there. These people are active, so there’s always some activity going on in the facility, like trips in and out all of the time. They have gaming rooms and activity rooms that are always filled up with people using them. The food is excellent; they have an excellent kitchen staff and an executive chef that takes real pride in what he does. The food has always been good since we’ve been around and my parents seem to love it.

My mother has lived at WP for a year. I agree with all the great things that people have already said - its brand new, very clean, bright and cheerfully decorated with lots of windows, apartments come a range of sizes and rental rate options. The grounds and buildings are kept in awesome shape and the staff is wonderful and attentive. The monthly cost is very, very reasonable for rent plus food. The location is great for the seniors with cars as it is on a low-traffic road (Lead Mine) in beautiful north Raleigh, convenient to many, many stores, plazas, and Crabtree Mall. They also have a shuttle to take seniors without cars around too. The food was very good (however the kitchen staff turn over has been high. It is a new place and will take time to get an establish kitchen staff). One area for improvement is that the idea is for all residents to meet and eat together in the dining room for three meals a day so they socialize and get out of their rooms. However each meal takes a very, very long time to complete leaving the seniors spending a painfully large amount of time each day sitting in the dining room. This dining philosophy is sound for socializing but the implementation is not working as the seniors are bored and frustrated waiting for meals and spending too much time in the dining room.

My stepmother is moving into Whispering Pines mid-June. What I immediately liked about it was how attractive it was. It was well decorated. The tables in the dining room had table cloths and flowers on them. It also had a lot of windows. For independent living, I found it extremely affordable given the fact that they provide three meals a day. They had studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedroom apartments, and each of those had a small kitchenette with a full size refrigerator and cabinets above and below the sink. They also had room for a microwave oven. I really loved the fact that the majority of the apartments have either a balcony or a patio. In addition to that, they had a movie theater, and they show different films every week. They also had a bistro that had fresh fruits, ice cream, and snacks available all day long. They provide all the linens, sheets, and towels which they launder. They had a beautiful courtyard.

My mother is at Whispering Pines. It is beautiful. It's spacious, brand new, and bright. Activities are just great. Food is great. Transportation is wonderful. I love the place. It's great. They would show current movies. The place is very current, and that's what I love about it. The artwork is beautiful. They have bright colors everywhere. It has pretty carpeting. It smells good. It really is a wonderful place. The management teams are great. They're very upbeat people. They're very easy to work with. I really like the management team too. My mother has been there for three weeks now.

Beautiful new facility; Wide hallways; Tastefully decorated with beautiful artwork; Open and airy with lots of natural light in the dining area, hallways, and sitting areas. Has a movie theater with "stadium" type seating giving it that "actual movie theater feel; has a bistro with coffee and smoothie dispensers; library, media room with HD large screen television, chapel, beautiful exercise room with new equipment, hair salon. Really nice facility. The (1) bedroom and studio apartments that I visited were large and spacious with a balcony looking onto a beautiful serene wooded area. Prices / rental fees are reasonable for the area, but beware of the "community fee". They don't tell you this "up front" until you are ready to sign. It really amounts to being a month's rent or a deposit. Just wish they would tell folks that information "up front".

Whispering Pines was new, fresh, it looked good, and had an excellent plan to it. It also had great activities, and the food was good. The room was not spacious, but the staff was superb.
