I visited a family member this weekend that I try to visit every weekend. I was amazed at the young lady that was taking care of my Aunt she is by far one of the best Cna’s I’ve seen working at this facility . Her name is Fatima she’s very professional and I can tell she is an experienced cna who actually has a heart and cares about her patients not only my aunt but the other residents that I saw her assist as well . I have no clue where she came from but she is an angel I truly hope she stays employed at Sunnybrook. I haven’t seen many like her some of the others have no care and they show it. The fact that my Auntie hair was combed she smelled good was dressed in actual clothes and wasn’t soiled was a plus for me . The food is always a plus for me because my Aunt loves it and she’s a hard lady to please with meals. The facility could use some remodeling . If we could have Fatima everyday then I think we would be blessed. My Aunt talked so well about her . The administrator should make sure she is definitely recognized. Overall I don’t have many good things to say besides clone Fatima

My mother-in-law stayed in Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center. They had physical and occupational therapy. The caregivers and the therapist were fabulous. Some repairs needed to be made to the building. It's just the old building, but as far as being clean, it was very clean. They had very good food. They did have good programs. They also had a hair salon. They had game nights.

This facility should be shut down!!! My mom suffered a stroke and lost her ability to speak and use of her right hand, Once she was medically cleared for discharge, she was recommended to go to rehab for speech/physical and occupational thearpy. The Case Manager at WakeMed claimed Sunnybrook Rehab Facility was a 5 star. ALL LIES!!! My mom was transferred in the evening and i arrived the next day at approximately 8:30 am. It took about 10 minutes before anyone came to the door to let me in. Once in, the nightmare began. the hallway smelled of urine and the place is old and dreary looking. I walked in and there were 3 staff workers sitting at the desk on their phones. No one botherd to ask me who I was. After standing at the desk for 3-4 minutes, i asked them for my mom's room. First i was told that she wasn't there, then another worker said "Oh wait, I see her name on the board." I went to my mom's room and she was lying in a small twin bed. The room was dingy and dreary looking. I wanted to cry seeing my mom lying in the bed and wet. I looked for her nurse who was even more clueless and didn't seem to be interested in anything I was asking him. He told me that my mom ate really good this morning and fed herself. I was shocked that he said this because my mom was unable to use her right hand to eat since the stroke. When i asked this nurse are you sure you have the right patient, he was adamant insisting my mom fed herself. He came into her room while the OT was there assessing my mom's mobility . He immediately walked out. This place is horrible! I feel really bad for the patients that don't have family members checking in with them on a daily basis. I'm able to get to this place early and have witnessed no staff checking on the patients during the day. The CNA who came into my mom's bedroom this morning, only came in because she saw me. She came in and bathe my mom and clothed her. She took the linen off the bed and stated that she would be back with clean linen to make mom's bed up. Never saw her again that day!!!! DO Y0UR HOMEWORK!!! DON'T BELIEVE WHAT WAKE MED CASE WORKER TELLS YOU (AMY) YES I'M PUTTING HER ON BLAST ALSO!!! AWEFUL PLACE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE!!! BTW, I Never saw any activities going on and the staff is horrible.

I would not board my dog at this place. The only attentive care my mother-in-law got was from two traveling nurses. She had a drain in a kidney and when staff was told on three conservative days that no urine was collecting the answer was, “I’ll have someone check into it.” On day four the tube was on the floor and she was sent to the emergency room with a bladder/kidney infection, ultimately placed on a respirator.

Please be sure to visit this place prior to allowing your family member to be placed here. My mother was transferred from Duke hospital per recommendation of the doctors for physical therapy. It's appalling. The beds and equipment are at least 30 years old, the wheel chairs have no foot rests. The person at the front desk was an absolute horror. The air vent in the room was covered in black dust hanging from the vent. The bathroom is shared amongst 4 patients. The toilet was clogged with feces. This is out of some nightmare movie.

My mother went here for Acute Rehab and found that for 11 days the rehab was nonexistent due to isolation protocols. Staff was rude, minus, a few leadership members. Multiple COVID outbreaks! Think long and hard before going to Sunnybrook. Hope this helps.

I wish I had looked into this place myself and read these reviews instead of believing what Wake Med told me about this place. My mother was sent here after surgery at Wake Med Cary. Her doctor at Wake Med Cary said she needed this type of care. Wake Med Cary told me that this facility has a four star rating. LIARS!! I don't know where they got that from since what I see online is definitely not four stars. She went into the facility COVID free and the very day she was supposed to go home she is tested positive for COVID and now has to stay there until she is negative. The staff refuse to let me speak with her, she had a phone in her room and now she doesn't without any explanation as to why. I understand I can't visit her because of COVID but I don't understand why they are refusing to let me speak with her unless they are hiding something. The last time I "spoke" with her she was incoherent and couldn't finish a sentence. I have a strong suspicion they are keeping her heavily sedated so they don't have to do their jobs and help her. I work in the healthcare field so I know the organizations to file complaints with and I am going to do so. I am also going to consult a lawyer. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!

If you can help it, please don’t send a loved one here. My mom was sent to sunnybrook during Covid, so no family could go in and see her. I am a nurse, so I understand caring for patients with no family present can be difficult. Unfortunately, in the case of sunnybrook, I feel that having no family present was a way for them to ignore and disrespect patients. My Mom went in there alert and able to answer the phone or send emails. Each day she seemed to get less and less responsive. My Dad, sister, daughter and I all called her everyday. She would tell us how the aids left her alone with the bell ringing for hours, when they came in they yelled at her roommate and treated her very roughly. My mom told me she would be very cooperative so she would over yelled at. The PT and OT were scattered and didn’t seem to know what the plan or goals were for my Mom. After she couldn’t answer the phone anymore we started calling the nurses for updates every day. If they called back it was hours later and they either didn’t know my mom, hadn’t taken care of her before, or gave us the wrong information. After being neglected for 3 weeks, she was sent to wake med ER with urosepsis. She was dehydrated, electrolytes were terrible, she had bruises and a bedsore and She was in a diaper. She didn’t even know who I was. As it turns out she had a kidney stone that they ignored, or gave her Percocet for to keep her quiet. Sadly, she died a month later. Without a doubt her discomfort in death was hastened by the terrible neglect she got at Sunnybrook

My mom had the terrible misfortune to go here for rehabilitation during Covid so she couldn’t have visitors. This mean we had no way of seeing what was going on. Every day we’d talk on the phone and she’s say “I’m so thirsty and they won’t bring me water,” I thought she was imagining that. After two weeks here she was rushed to the ER severely dehydrated. She had several large bruises and the Dr suspected she’d been dropped several times. She was extremely frightened when hospital staff got near, leading them to believe Sunnybrook staff had been too rough with her. She had a bedsore and a rash from wetting herself because no one helped her to the bathroom. I know her time in this place hastened her death. They should be ashamed of themselves for treating people this way. Do not put anyone you care about here! There were a couple of kind nurses, I hope they find work elsewhere soon!

This is the worst place ever I have been in. My mother was here and every staff member was very uncooperative. The nurses just kept my mother over dosed w meds and did not consult w me as her POA when making changes. They lied when confronted about their actions. In short, this place should be shut down. Food was gross- no nutrition. Staff- unfriendly. Facility was dirty. There were no activities. It looked like they had all these things in place. I spent a lot of time here and there was nothing. The rooms were not clean. The tv’s half the time didn’t work and their was no tv to watch. The nurses just didn’t care and kept my mothers medicated because they didn’t want to deal w her.

This place is terrible! Staff is very unconcerned with patients well-being. At the time of my visit, patients were just lingering in hallways and their rooms. There was no kind of social events or fuctions to involve patient participation. Basically, they are just waiting for meals and their meds. I called once to get information on my relative and was told by staff " I don't know, I'm not his nurse and I would have to call back later". How is it that staff does not know about their own patients? If you have a love one, please do not take them to Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center. This place is only good for one thing, taking you love ones money and spirit.
Watching out from Mom!

I have been touring all of the facilities in the Raleigh area for my dear friend who just had her left hip replaced. I found everything I was looking for when I visited Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center. The Administrator personally toured me through her facility and I was introduced to the Director of Nursing and Rehab Program Manager who were so helpful in answering my questions. I selected this facility for my friend and things just got better and better. She enjoyed her therapy, nursing services and even the nursing assistants were attentive to her every need...but the food was amazing! I found myself purchasing a meal and eating lunch with her several times a week. As a guest to the facility you can't beat the $3.00 meal that is delicious! While my friend was only there for a few weeks, she wished she could have stayed longer...thank you Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center for your caring approach in every aspect of my friends care.

I left that rehabilitation facility and could still smell the odor that came from that place. On the surface the facility looks clean but it had an odor, that would come from the lack of hygiene care of the residents. While I was visiting with my friend I asked one of the staff members to please help me to get my friend washed, she told me she would get the male aide that was responsible for her care. I waited, 30 minutes later she passed by the room with her head down and didn't have the common courtesy to let me know if she had or had not spoken to the CNA responsible for giving my friend care. I had stressed that I would help in getting my friend washed and I would have done it myself. When I lifted my friends blanket the smell that came from her body was awful, that's hard to conceive in a facility where she's suppose to at least have her hygiene care. I'm sorry to know facilities like this still exist in operation. My friend was unresponsive because if she could have washed herself she would have. It hurt me too see how she's cared for because she use to care for people. As a matter of fact she had her own Family Care Facility.

Staff seems friendly but the facilities are very unappealing. Food is under par and residents seem barely cared for.

Filthy facility with staff who do not tend to patients with care or respect. If you are searching for a facility for yourself or a family member, you had best keep looking.

Do not take your loved one to this place. My loved one was only here for rehab and they definitely did not get the rehab they should have for the money. My loved one was also promised a private room as soon as one became available and he never got one. There are roaches and crickets in this place. The food they serve the patients is terrible. They fed my loved one a cheese sandwich twice in one day. What kind of place is this to do that? I stayed on top of things and had my loved one released to come home. I feel sorry for the permanent residents in this place.

My mother in law stayed at sunnybrook for 3 months after a 2 month long hospital stay. That was a stressful time for my family and the staff at sunnybrook easied our worries. Not only did she receive great care from the nursing staff, but the therapy team helped her tremondously!! Any questions we had were always answered and any issues were resolved. I am so proud of what Sunnybrook did for my mother in law!!

PLEASE. DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY MEMBER TO THIS FACILITY. THEY ARE CHEAP FOR A REASON BECAUSE THEY GIVE CHEAP CARE. MY FAMILY MEMBER HAD A STROKE AND SHE WAS LEFT IN A SOILED UNDERGARMENT FOR HOURS. SHE RANG HER BUZZER AND SEVERAL NURSE STAFF STOP AND ASK WHAT SHE NEEDED AND WHEN SHE TOLD THEM THEY ALL SAID "I GET SOMEONE". THE FLOOR HAD STAINS AND REUSE GARABAGE BAGS WHICH SOILED UNDERGARMENT WAS THROWN IN. THE BATHROOM WASN'T CLEAN.. I FEEL SO SAD FOR THE PATIENTS THAT KNOW ONE CHECK ON OR COME BY TO SEE HOW THEY ARE BEING CARE FOR. MY COUSIN HAD SOMEONE DROPPING IN DAILY AT DIFFERENT TIMES SO WE COULD SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING AROUND HER. PLEASE. PLEASE RETHINK ABOUT SENDING YOUR FAMILY MEMBER HERE TO THIS FACILITY. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND DO NOT HAVE ANY CARES ABOUT YOU AS A FAMILY MEMBER OR THE PATIENT... WHEN ASK A QUESTION ABOUT THE TREAMENT OR CARE PERSONNEL HAS A ISSUE. LIKE YOU DON'T HAVE A RIGHT TO ASK. MANAGEMENT STAFF HAVE KNOW MANNERISM. SHE IS DEFENSIVE AND CONFRONTATION WHEN PUT IN A CORNER. WHEN ALL YOU ARE DOING IS ASKING A QUESTION. YOU HAVE 3 PATIENTS TO A ROOM ON SOME FLOORS. THEY HAVE A HIGH TURNOVER OF WORKERS. WONDER WHY? PLEASE RESEARCH FACILITIES ANY WHERE BEFORE ADMITTING YOUR FAMILY MEMBER BECAUSE KNOW ONE LOVE THEM MORE THAN YOU...

I have a friend who is a patient there now. She states the place is filthy! She also had to use her phone to call the front desk in order to get her call light answered when she needed pain meds! She is post-surgical, the light had been on for over 30 minutes. You will be reported.

I would prefer to give it a zero. My friend has been there for rehab after a knee operation. The place is FILTHY, there was dried blood and feces on the floor, the bed has a metal pole down the middle. My friend called for her pain meds this morning and after waiting 30 mins had to call the front desk on her cellphone just to get any attention. This place should be shut down! At least my friend is awake and has her wits about her - but there are many elderly folk in there who can't and I can only imagine they torment they are living. Why is no health agency or ombudsman doing anything about this facility!? It's a disgrace.

Those people who are looking for something -- be prepared for frustration. Be prepared if your family member is sick, because people don't want them. Maybe they only want people who can take care of themselves. There is one in particular that I found there was space available, and they don't want my father. This place I am really frustrated with is Sunnybrook because pretty much they've just been giving me the run-around. I have given them all the information that they needed, and then I was told the person that reviews this is really busy and they can't help me right away, so I have to wait. The place looked nice, but they gave me the run-around. That was a really big frustration since the doctors were giving them information, and they got all the information they needed, and I thought if they had space available why not admit it if you don't want them. They looked like a nice place. They really do, so that is why I was so disappointed. I would rate them like a two really because of how they treat people.`
