I am/was a resident of this facility

Here for Rehab. The facility is old and "very tired." Over the last 2 weeks I have only had FOUR -30 minute Physical Therapy sessions per week. Apparently there is not enough therapy staff, so the rest of the time I am confined to bed. There is hard working (overworked) staff. Many are doing double shifts due to lack of staff. This is NOT a 5 star facility that was presented to me.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father ended up at Litchford Falls Healthcare & Rehab. It is very clean and very organized. The rooms appear to be in very good shape. The care has been good. The staff is very willing to communicate with you. They were very helpful in getting him moved over there. I've been very pleased with it. It's just been a relief to get him there and feel like he's being well taken care of. The rooms are nice. They're not very big, but they are very clean and the bathrooms are nice. They look like a bathroom in a house, so it's nice. He has a shared room. I've been there to feed him, and it looked and smelled really good. What little he ate, he seemed to enjoy it. The dining area was nice, clean, and big. They have activities. The day after he was placed, the activities coordinator called me to see what they thought he might be able to do and what we would like to get him involved in, but he's bedridden. They can't even get him up to take him to the bathroom, so he isn't really able to be involved in that, but they were telling me that they had different offerings and asked if I would like for him to participate in any of them or could they go by and evaluate him to see if he could participate and I told them that was fine. I just didn't think he'd be able to. Upkeep is well above average. They have a rehab room with machinery and stuff in it. I happened to see that going down the hall. The residents were nice and they all seemed very comfortable there. The ones that could tell me how they felt about it liked it. His roommate has been there about two or three years, and he says he's always been very happy there, so that made me feel better. Value for money was excellent. It was much more reasonable than the place he was in before and the facility is in much better shape. I've been very pleased and I'm very comfortable that he's there.

There are unvaccinated "care givers" working at this facility. In fact, some, or one anyway, is outwardly disdainful of recognized sanitary protocols. Beware folks!

I visited this facility

I'm super concerned with the staff that are working at this facility. In a time where people need to be cared about, to have workers going unvaccinated, putting those staying at the facility at risk and threatening the lives of those requesting protections of our most vulnerable. Shame on this facility.

Pray that you never have to stay in this place! The things I’ve endured are horrible. My room has roaches. Management seems unconcerned. I’ve had to wait up to 2 hours just to urinate. It’s dehumanizing! Nursing staff does not respond to call light. They distribute medicine on their own schedule. I’ve had to remind them on several occasions to follow my doctor’s care plan. The food is horrible. I couldn’t eat or sleep. Please don’t send your family here especially if they can’t advocate for themselves.

My mother is still in rehab at Litchford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. It's good. The workers are very good, but maybe slightly overworked. Sometimes, on Sundays, they're understaffed, but they work very hard. My mother has been there for three weeks now. The rooms are very clean. The place is very clean.

The facility is older and not state of the art, as far as function and design, having really old furniture and crank beds which gyrate when moving the patient from up to down positions, etc. But the facility seems to be clean and well kept. Importantly, the staff and or CNA's seem well trained and caring and are attentive to the needs of those they care for, within what is reasonable to expect. The morale seems good.

Litchford Falls Healthcare was the cleanest when we looked all over Raleigh for our mother. It was also well-lit. We were pleased with the care. We didn't like that she suffered, but we couldn't do anything about that. All they could do was really be good to her; they bathed her to keep her clean and comfortable and gave her medications the doctor ordered. The nurses, especially the CNAs, were very helpful and kind to her. She loved them and they loved her, especially a young man who bathed her and took care of her. He would come and bring his little son to meet her. They had entertainment. In the last 3 months, they had like a high school prom with a live band. They brought people to do the ladies' makeup and find dresses for them. They brought young men in from the nearby college to dance with people. They would have Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner with families. The activity director was the best I've ever seen, since I used to work in nursing homes as a teacher. He was so great. He would come in his tux and bow or sometimes in a body costume for entertainment. It was just wonderful. It was hard for her to share a tiny room, and she (not because of that) became more and more disabled and ill. They called me when my mother was about to die. She could no longer get her breath; she was crying and everything. They called me to come immediately. The nurse who had taken care of her was praying really loud, and we all were crying because of my mother. If you have to be in Medicaid care, I think this is as good as you can get. They were excellent. They did the best they could for her.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother in law is a resident at this facility, being placed a few months ago after a hospital admission and surgery for a broken hip. She also is in end stages of Alzheimers. The staff at Litchford opened their arms and hearts to her upon arrival. She required intensive PT for the hip surgery and with the extreme dementia, she is very challenging to say the least. Everyone seems to have the patience of a "saint" while dealing with her. She visits the administrator several times a week just to bless her out for one thing or another- none of which make any sense and they just smile. We knew this day was fast approaching in her when she would no longer be able to be kept at home safely. The decision to place her in a nursing facility was made for us after the broken hip. She is settled there now, she thinks this is her new house, she has lots of new friends, many with the same mental capacity or ailments and she is happy. We can't thank everyone at Litchford Falls for all they continue to do for our family member.

I visited this facility

I was disappointed with the lack of urgency from the staff that I encountered. Though they hold a tough position, I think its deplorable to ignore the requests of their patients or atleast listen to them.
