My father has been in Brookdale Monroe Square for almost two years now. I like it. I have no complaints. They treat him well. There's enough space for him in his room. He has all the amenities he needs. Maintenance is fine. The food is good. They offer different options every time. The dining area is clean and roomy. The staff are friendly, and they keep me updated on anything that's going on. For activities, they have movies, they have days where they go out, they have a men's club, they have exercise onsite every day, and they have different events. They have an outdoor space where you can have a little garden when the weather is nice. It's a sort of a patio area.

I toured Brookdale Monroe Square. It was a good experience. Regarding the staff, I was comfortable walking around with them. They're very accommodating. I had lunch there and it was good. I didn't have high expectations for the food in assisted living facilities, but they're getting a higher scale because I was expecting something not quite as good. The rooms were adequate.

The facility is very out dated compared to other places in the area. The bathroom was horrible that I used during my tour. Residents seemed happy and staff seemed friendly.

Brookdale Monroe Square was older, it was not as modern as the others. I didn't like it as much as I like the other Brookdale. It was darker inside and it wasn't as lit. The director there was absolutely awesome though, she was wonderful, and they were all kind. The facility just didn't have much light in it. They had a media room, a library, and a beauty shop.

We chose Brookdale Monroe Square for my mother-in-law. Starting today we are going to have some limited visitation. Before that we went to a window in her room and from the outside talked to her. She could call on her phone and she could see us, and we could talk to her that way. The staff is fine so far as I know, all that I've had contact with has been alright. I've only interacted with the administrator 'cause we're not allowed to go inside the facility and talk with workers there. They allowed her daughter and her son to move her stuff in, and her daughter was allowed to go inside the room and show her where everything was at.

I liked Brookdale Monroe Square very much. The rooms seemed a little larger than the first community I visited. They were more spacious, they had a calendar of events, and they had some people doing stuff in a room; there was some kind of group activity going on. The staff was very nice and very knowledgeable. The dining area was very nice.

My mom was a resident of Brookdale Monroe Square. Right now, they're having some issues with staff. The food has gotten terrible and the quality of care has decreased a good bit in the last 6 to 8 months. I would not rate this particular place very high. At one time it was very good, but it isn't anymore. They put together a calendar, and they put all kinds of activities in the calendar. But I have been there at all different times of the day, but they're never doing anything in the memory care. I dont think they do as many activities in assisted living as they say they're doing, and they repeat them over and over again if they do them. Over at the Alzheimer's and dementia care, they virtually do little to nothing with them. And it's a shame, because those are the residents that need to be stimulated, and they need activities or they decline faster. There was a lot of residents that just literally wandered around in circles, and staff would just be sitting around in the common areas playing with their cellphone. I would not recommend them, period. It took them probably a month to fix a damaged wall in the bathroom. They dont keep it clean like they used to. When mother first went there 3 years ago, we were very pleased. But this last year it has gone downhill a lot. We were paying almost $1,600 a month more for less attention, less care, terrible food, compared to the current community. So it's not a good value.

Brookdale Monroe Square has what I wanted for my wife. It has all kinds of dancing, drawing, and coloring. They serve three meals a day, and the staff is pretty good. There are no problems.

Do not put your loved one here. They will be neglected. The ratio is 16-1. There are not enough staff, and many are not capable of dealing with memory care patients. My family had to constantly speak with administrators... with no improvement. We had to move my family member so that she actually received care. Please, keep looking. This no way to treat our parents. If I could have put no stars, I would.

Our visit at Brookdale Monroe Square was very good. I thought the halls could be a little bit lighter, but the rooms were good. The dining room was light with lots of windows. They’re in the process of refurbishing everything; furniture, carpet and paint are supposed to be coming next week, so it’s all going to change hopefully in a few weeks. The dining room was large and spacious; they have tablecloths and nice settings. They do separate the residents that need to be fed; they’re not in with the others at the same time. They were making bracelets for a fundraiser the day we visited.

We visited Monroe Square and it seemed to be right for my dad. It looked like a very nice place to live; the people that lived there were very active and seemed to enjoy living there. The staff seemed very caring and the cost seemed to be within range of our budget. We have nothing but positive feelings for the community. The rooms were good enough.

I have just placed my mother at Monroe Square. I visited other assisted living facilities and this one far out weighed the others. It is bright and open, offers a massive array of activities, and the staff is great. Everyone is friendly and extremely helpful. My mother is happy here. I would recommend this facility to anyone.

Monroe Square was a nice property. We looked at several different apartments, and I thought they were sufficient enough. The person we met was very nice and helpful.

I needed to get my mother in an assisted living facility fast because she was about to come out in the hospital. The staff is okay and they pretty took good care of her. The food is okay. I'm not really satisfied with the place, but I got her in there and she's gotten used to the place by now.

I'm caregiving for my father right now but we did visit Monroe Square. It was a good visit. The rooms were private so they were a lot bigger. The staff was pleasant and the facility offered the same amenities like that of others.
