Brookdale Weddington Park was an absolutely lovely place. The young lady there that I talked to was just phenomenal. I didn't get to talk to anyone in-depth, but I saw them interacting with the residents. I liked the interaction between the residents and the staff. The only thing about that particular place was there were so many women. I was trying to look for a place with a kind of healthy balance of men and women because I needed my dad to be somewhere where he can kind of relate. The facility was very beautiful and they had very good-sized rooms. When I was leaving, they had a man come. He had his guitar and all the residents came out, the ones that wanted to come out and listen to him play music. The lady who was giving me the tour said that he comes every week, and I like that about it. They had a lot of activities listed; that's one of the things that stood out.

My dad went in to Brookdale Weddington Park in early June. I like the facility. It is very clean, and it is bright. The staff has been really great to us. They really seem to care about their residents. I popped in over there to see my dad, and everything always looks right. Everybody seems happy. Each member of the staff, from the administrator to the sales person, to the nurses, to the maintenance guys – I've worked with all of them, and they're very helpful. To get into the facility, my dad actually had to take the highest priced largest room, but they promised me I could have the first smaller room that came available for him, and within a month, they did that. When they changed residents, they totally changed the carpet and paint in the room. We moved my dad three days ago into the smaller room that is $760 cheaper a month. They were very great. Their maintenance and the ladies there moved everything, and they didn't charge us anything for that. My dad has gained 3 pounds, so I don't think the food is terrible. The kitchen interacts with the people, I have seen the plates, and the food doesn't look terrible, so I would say the food is probably good. They do have a lot of activities, but my dad doesn't participate in them. They take them to Wal-Mart, and they take them out to the Billy Graham Library. About every week, they have some kind of a field trip. Also they have an activity lady that comes in, and they do handicrafts things. There are more activities going on than my dad wants.

It was very beautiful. The people at our church had volunteered in Brookdale Weddington Park (Formerly Weddington Park), and they really loved their staff. The first room that you see is this beautiful library type room, and that's very appealing. The staff was great, and a lot of them had followed up with us a lot. The rooms were not quite as spacious and were a little darker. The ones we saw have just one window in the bedroom. It was fine; I just didn't like the layout as much. It was all one room versus something more segregated. They had buses going to places.

Brookdale Weddington Park was very nice. I would have put my mother there. The reason we chose the other place is because of its proximity to where we live. The staff seemed to be very professional, and -- from what I saw -- they cared for the residents. The rooms were very nice, the facility was well-maintained, the outside appearance was very nice, and when you go in, it was very nice. The surroundings were well-kept. As far as the shrubbery and all that type of stuff, it was pretty clean. It is in close proximity to shopping, so if the residents wanted to go out shopping, it would not be a long drive. They had people coming in to sing, and they had singing and church activities. While I was there on one of my visits, they had a lady in there doing Zumba.

I'm not happy with Weddington Park. I think it's too expensive. I don't think it matches where mom is already in. I'm very unhappy about it. The room was way too small from what she was accustomed to. It was older than where she is.

I thought it was perfect for the geriatric community. They offer little help, to more hands on help, depending on the needs of the individual. Everything that a resident may need I'd available on dirt, cafeteria, church, social activities, etc. the amount of elevators, and their placement Iis limited, but I suppose that also encourages residents to get out and stretch their legs.

I visited this facility after a former client moved into it when he decided that an assisted living facility would meet his needs better than his independent home. My first impressions of the facility was that it's absolutely gorgeous - very bright, clean, modern looking, and open. Each resident has his or her own small apartment and they receive help in maintaining it by staff. There is also a wonderful amount of open area (library, garden, dining hall) to allow for community gatherings. The staff are extremely friendly and one thing that struck me right away was that even though the person I was visiting had only moved in a week or so prior to my visit, at least four staff members addressed him by name and with a smile while I was visiting. He told me several times that he was very happy there and mentioned specific activities that he either had or was looking forward to joining in on. He even mentioned some outings that the facility had planned, enabling the residents to get out and enjoy some of what Matthews and Charlotte have to offer. While I was in the facility my former client was also reminded to take some medication and a staff spoke to him about an upcoming doctors visit that they had helped to arrange as well. He said that he felt his medical needs were being well met while he was there which, being a diabetic and on dialysis, was extremely important to him. Overall I felt confident that he had made the right choice in moving to Weddington Park. He was able to enjoy a beautiful environment and keep up with an active social schedule, while also having his medical and personal care needs met. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone.
