My family member passed away at night. No one was notified. My brother-in-law went to plant flowers there and was the next morning and was told then!!!! Unacceptable!!!! My mother-in-law come Lainey her chest was hurting. She was put to bed. Only for them to check on her an hour later. It was too late - she had passed.

Golden Living Center is in my opinion a very clean and well staffed facility. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. When me or my family go to visit my grandmother we can tell that she is being well taken care of. Her hair is always neatly done and her clothes are always neat. She is also fed regularly on schedule. My grandmother has dementia so this is very important to me and my family. My grandmother has been at the Golden Living Center for about a year or so now and the level of care has always been at a high level. That's saying something, because I have heard some of the horror stories from friends as well as in the media about how residents have been mistreated and neglected. I can say that me or any of my family has ever experienced any of that since my grandmother has been a resident there.

I feel that this living facility could use a whole lot of improvement. As far as the staff most are unfriendly and leave patients sitting in the day room alone with the t.v. going for hours on end until it is feeding time. I have noticed staff ignore the patients. Also, the staff do not regularly check residents for changing or thirst. There are little to no amenities for the patients. There is a swing on a concrete slab but I never see residents outside on this. There is no game room but instead a social room with tables/chairs and a piano. However, they do have an activities calendar for the residents and a special guest (choir) every now and again for the residents. Most residents are wheeled around the parking lot outside in their wheelchairs by their family members who have come to visit. The facility is outdated as far as the outside appearance and inside and is located within a residential subdivision. The equipment that they use appears to be up to date which is a plus but the building as a whole should be renovated. Sometimes when visiting the whole hall smells like urine or feces. I have noticed that they do a mass changing on the residents in addition to the mass feedings.

the staff seemed to be indifferent about everything, the ammenties where non exsistent other than the beds and an occasional television. the facilites were old and somewhat run down. there is a terrible odor throughout the facility, not the same with other similar facilites. even outside it wasnt unkept, but not inviting. it doesnt look like a place you want to visit, nowhere near somewhere you would want to send a family member, god forbid someone admit you there. all bland colors inside and out. a feeling of being dirty after spending just a few minutes. a horrible staff to patient ratio. and the food they served didnt even look like something i would feed a dog.
