Staff has no accountability. They stand at nursing desk and ignore call lights, or hide. Upper management is ineffective and only looking out for their staff. The residents and family are ignored. They have events and parties for residents but only staff are present because they don’t ensure residents know or go get them to wheel them there.

I was contacted initially at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. I was impressed by the way their representative talked about the facility. Once I became a resident I experienced the positive attributes of The Emerald. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. The staff is well-trained and extremely helpful! Though I've only been here for two weeks, I highly recommend.

The people at Emerald Health & Rehab Center were nice, but they're understaffed. The food was OK. They had very few activities that I'm aware of. One of the issues with it was it had hard floors rather than carpeted floors and my father-in-law is a fall risk and he fell. The associated doctors were not as skilled as we would've liked. They didn't make good recommendations. It was dark, and the common areas at the time were like just cement and dirt.

Emerald Health & Rehab Center is beautiful. It's gorgeous. The head, Mike, was the one we talked to originally when we went through it and he was very helpful. He came out to my parents' apartment and met with them. He originally suggested that Mom didn't seem bad enough for his location and suggested assisted living. He was very helpful and tried calling other people and got us in touch with assisted living places. Then she took a turn for the worse and they determined she definitely needed full-time care, so she ended moving to his location. My father has been to the dining room and he thinks the food is very good, but my mother is not able to go to the dining room. They bring her food to her and she eats in her room. My sister thinks that the menus and the food they have all seem very good, and that there is a good selection. It is very clean, it looked new to me, it's well-kept, and there are no odors. The rooms are nice. We have no complaints about the place at all. I've had no complaints from my father and my sister and my father is out there to visit her almost daily and my sister about four to five times a week, sometimes more. They have quite a few activities for the residents. It's very expensve, but it's worth it.
