My dad has been in Alston Brook for rehab since April. It has been a good experience. They have been attentive, he has had no complaints, and anything that we have asked about, they have addressed. The place is beautiful. When you go in and you look at it, it's very pretty. Sometimes, that doesn't say what kind of a place it is but in Alston, the care and the service that you get are just as beautiful as the facility so we've had no problems. They've taken really good care of him. It's been a great place and a great experience. His room was equipped with a recliner, a floor lamp, and a TV. It's a big and spacious room, it's got plenty of room. There's a walk-in shower, no step-up, and just walk-in with the equipment there. It feels like a home away from home. It's decorated beautifully, with plenty of room, lots of cabinets and drawers to put your things in, and just beautiful. They have an ice cream shop that's open twice a week that they take the residents to. They have multiple outside patios that they can go out to. They have crafts and singing. There's a calendar that they post in their rooms, which has the daily activities, and they get to choose what they would like to participate in.

We toured Alston Brook and we didn't see anything that was alarming at all. The staff who gave the tour was very professional. The rooms were convenient, we looked at both semi-private and private rooms, and they were well taken care of. Some were furnished and some were not. The floor cleaners were out while we were there, right after lunch and they were cleaning. You can rub your fingers across the top of the door frame to see if it's dusty but I didn't find any of that, so the place was clean.

My brother was at Alston Brook before he passed. We both really liked it. He liked the staff and he liked the people. I'm not sure if they were allowing families in, but they did call me ahead, so I was able to be there during his last 20 hours. It was intended to be for physical therapy. The purpose was to find a facility for him to have aggressive PT as he was able to handle getting his strength back and then come back home. The exterior was nice. I was not allowed to enter the facility, except the evening my brother died. I got to see his room and everything I saw was extremely nice. The room itself was large and very family-oriented. It had a couch and a recliner; it was great. He said it was very clean and very nice there. It's maybe 20 years old, but still looks very nice. We had such a poor experience at another place, but this one is a hundred times better. I would recommend it. It's family-oriented and I think it is Christian-oriented too because of the music that they played all the time. They have very kind staff. It was just a little odd that in some other businesses you may have the opportunity to leave messages, emails, and all the other stuff. Alston was not quite as up-to-date as I expected them to be. Other than that, they were great. They had patients in the rehab facility in one full unit. They also had patients who were probably memory impacted, like Alzheimer's or dementia, in another separate unit, which was skilled long-term nursing. They also have a little ice cream parlor and a cafeteria. For the food, you have the option at lunch and dinner to pick one of three things. So if you didn't want what was planned for everybody, they would offer you a second option. I thought that was pretty cool. Unlike other facilities, Alston remembers that older people like sweets too, and would make sure there was a cookie or something sweet with the meals, which I appreciated.

My mother was at Alston Brook for physical therapy. It was fine. She was only there briefly in the rehabilitation area of the facility. The staff was great. The food was good. It's institutional food, but it was fine. The facility was very clean, it had no odors, and it was very good. They did great, but they're a little pricey compared to the others that I have looked into.

My dad stayed at Alston Brook for about a month. The hospital where he was made the arrangements and put him there. I also heard that it was a nice facility. They treated the residents well and I was impressed by the care they gave the residents. The employees seemed very good to the residents and there was a family-like atmosphere. He was in a single room and they had a large room, cafeteria, ice cream shop where the residents could get a cone or cup each day, and places where they gathered and talked. The only thing i did not like was they kept doing rehabilitation on him when they knew he was hospice eligible. Still, I would choose this facility if I need to go in one.

Alston Brooks was very near my home. It was a very beautiful facility. Their rooms are clean and neat and they have a very good reputation.
