This is NOT the place for paraplegics. Staff have no training or no idea how to meet needs of paraplegic however, if your loved one has awareness, it is a good place. If they solely depend on others...look elsewhere. The rooms and building is more impressive than staff.

Westchester Manor at Providence Place was OK. The rooms were large and nice. The facility was clean and I felt like the residents were safe, but I didn't feel like they offered a lot of stimulation or activities in the skilled nursing memory care unit that my dad was in. The only thing I saw was they would put movies up on the screen in the common area. I didn't see anything else. The atmosphere was a little depressing.

My wife was in Westchester Manor at Providence Place for 9 days. It was nice and very clean. They checked on the patients every 1 or 2 hours.

On the plus side, Westchester Manor is cleaner and brighter than other area nursing homes. The physical therapy and occupational therapy are excellent. On the minus side, like most nursing homes today, Westchester is understaffed. They have 1 nurse (usually an LPN) and 2 aides for every 22 residents. My mother often had to wait up to 1/2 hour before someone even answered the call bell, and sometimes a full hour before someone was available to change or reposition her. That's a LONG time to be sitting in a wet diaper or a pile of poop. There's a real difference in attitude between the nursing staff employed by the home and the contract staff who provide the "extra" services like PT and OT. Some of the nurses are great, but some clearly don't care and are just putting in the time. Weekday and daytime staff generally remain the same and some built a good relationship with our family, but on weekends and nights they use a lot of temps who didn't know my mother at all. We never knew which doctor would be on call, and it's very difficult to talk with the doctors or nurse practitioners unless you actually show up, in person, and wait for hours. Bottom line: Westchester is better than several of the other facilities we looked at, but they could do a lot better.

Westchester Manor was a very facility-oriented place. I don’t think that the staff represented it the best. It’s not where I would put one of my loved ones.

Westchester Manor Nursing Center is close to family, so it is just a convenient location altogether for us. Everything went really well. The rooms are really nice. My aunt seems to like the food and the staff. Everybody is really nice and professional. They play bingo, and she gets her hair done. They get together and do a lot of stuff. They’ve been a really great place. Overall, I have no complaints.

It's so sad to see so many older people left alone and untreated because they have no family to help them get better treatment. Every meal is served cold. The food smell bad so you really don't know if it's bad until you eat it. If you are unable to go to the restroom on your own you are in trouble. You are left there for hours before something is done. They have male orderlies undressing the women to get ready for bed. This should never happen. If it wasn't for the handful of good nurses and for the fact that the place doesn't smell in general I would rate Westchester Manor with a 1 star.

This facility is regal at its best. Everywhere I turned it seemed like I was in England in the royal palace. Everything was so delicately placed and the furniture and colors were hand picked by the best decorators. That, itself, almost won me over. I walked in and was almost immediately greeted by a guest! He somehow knew I was former military. We talked for about 10 minutes before I even made it to the receptionist desk. When I did I got my very short tour but it was a fantastic one. This place had a ball room of sorts (I will call it one because it had a grand piano). This place was simply elegant from top to bottom. If you have to pick an assisted living center, i would make this one of your choices. I will warn you it is one of the higher priced choices but everything comes with it and I think it is well worth it.
