My dad was a resident several times in Rehab after a stay at the hospital. I was always satisfied with his rehabilitation. October he was admitted to Long Term Care at age 94. His health was failing. He received very good care, helped him whenever he needed it. The rooms were clean and the staff very caring and friendly. They had a lot of activities and my dad participated at times. He passed away two weeks ago in the hospital. I would definitely recommend this facility for your loved ones.

We were really impressed with MacGregor Downs Health and Rehabilitation Center. The staff was super professional, whether they thought we were just visiting or we had an interest in moving someone into the facility. It was also very clean. We were so impressed with how clean everything was. As we moved about the place, there were several sitting rooms where my mom could join other people watching TV and chatting. There was a courtyard where she could roll out her wheelchair, just sit outside, and tend to flowers. The place was amazing. We toured the entire nursing home facility, and the person who took us around was absolutely professional, friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and answered all our questions. We didn't feel that we were being hurried through, or that they were trying to conceal anything. It was a very pleasant experience all around.

My sister is currently a patient. When she requested help to go to the bathroom for a bowel movement, she was told to use her diaper. I think this is disrespectful, unkind, thoughtless.

We went to MacGregor Downs Health and Rehabilitation Center. It's very nice inside. It's a nice building. It's fairly new and appealing. It was clean. Everything around it was clean. The rooms looked nice. The staff who assisted us were very nice and very helpful. The dining area looked nice. It was a big room with tables and chairs. The settings were nice. It was pleasant. They had some game rooms. I saw some game tables like chess, checkers, and card tables, that kind of stuff.

My dad is currently a resident there since mid February. We have watched him progress a great deal with the help of all the staff members. They are an excellent team and have a lot of joy and love in their hearts towards the residents there. He talks about the staff a lot and appreciates everything he gets help with and he enjoys them all. We as a family thank God for the opportunity that our dad was place at this facility. You all have done a great job during the pandemic and continue to have a positive attitude every day and be so strong. Thank you again, Michael, Cathy and Great Granddaughter Maleigha.

My mom was a patient here. Initially, she was not receptive to being in a nursing home for therapy. My mom is a picky eater was refusing to eat and therefore, we had to bring food from the outside. However, one of the staff (RCS) found out that she loves coffee so he made sure she had it with her meals. She was very appreciative and began to eat more of the food. The staff went out of their way to make her feel comfortable and more at home. My mom was very happy with everyone and now, I have all these adopted sisters and brothers. She would tell me about all her new friends and how she loved to laugh and joke with everyone. I want to thank all the staff for all the care they provided. This means so much during this COVID pandemic.

I am so grateful to the facility for offering a video chat service to the residents and residents' family members so that they can stay connected with each other during the state "Lockdown" restrictions. Because of this service, my family is able to communicate with our relative and/or loved one twice a week. I do encourage all family members to utilize this service if they are are able. Thanks to the admin staff for setting up this service and to the staff who assist the residents and family members with this form of communication and/or interaction!

My mom was placed in there for rehab after knee surgery. Her first day was a NIGHTMARE!!! They put her on a bed with no rails and laid her flat. She hollared for an hour for a nurse to come with assistance to use the bathroom. The nurses kept walking by the room and paid her no attention. Her roommate also screamed for an hour to use the bathroom. She called my father to come and get her. She signed herself out and went home. WARNING!! PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS HOME IF THEY HAVE NO WAY OF CONTACTING WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD!!! That would've been my mom's problem if she didn't have a cell phone.

Complained already about my mothers care, the staff came running the next day and a few after but here we go again. Met with Dr on Thursday, the 22nd. she was so nice and polite. gonna start seeing my mother on Wednesday of that very week. Mom has not seen her. I went in on Saturday the 25th ask about my mothers medication again to make sure they had enough of the meds that we HAVE TO SUPPLY. I was promised a week ago we had the issue with these meds taken care of but on Saturday I find out they have ordered these from their pharmacy knowing that my mothers insurance does not cover them and we supply due to a grant she receives for these meds. Just to let you all know we WILL NOT BE PAYING FOR THESE MEDS THAT YOUR PHARMACY SUPPLIED. I told everyone SEVERAL times since 12/27/19 the day my mother went into this facility that we supply her CHEMO. Nurse told me Saturday she would remove these pills and that she had spoken with the head nurse Doris and she wanted me to give them the grant information so they could call to make sure they have not messed this up. YOU WILL NEVER CALL THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU ALL HAVE MESSED UP ENOUGH!!!. Today, Sunday, January 26th my mother is still in diapers and she messed her self up. She told the staff they told her they were not going to change her until they put her back to bed this afternoon. She has to set in her chair for several hours a day, so this being said she sit in a SHITTY diaper all afternoon. This is so uncalled for and I am pissed beyond words. Believe me I am trying to get my mother out of this sorry ass place. Its obvious some of the staff don't give a damn about the patients. IT is so very sad.

As a retired nurse, I know the red flags to look for in a facility. My mother was transferred to Greenville after the flood in NC in September, 2018. Being out of state, I called daily to check on my mother and was even called by the nurses when something changed in my mother's care. I visited frequently and would sometimes stay and see the staff in action on all three shifts. I can not say enough praise to the nurses, techs, social worker, wound care nurse for the skilled care, love and compassion that my mother was given. I had the option to move my mother back to her previous facility prior to the flood, but thankfully I had a choice for her to remain at this wonderful unit. From the moment you enter the facility you are treated like family. This starts with the receptionists and continues as you walk down the hallway to your loved one's unit. I had to place my mother on Hospice and she passed away at this unit. During her stay here, she received superb nursing care that included a soft touch, a loving voice, respect and dignity. I wish I could name each person individually but my space is limited. I want you to know how grateful I am that your facility is filled with loving, caring staff that touch the lives of the resident and the family. You were my mother's angels and mine. Thank you for all you did for our family and all you do for your current residents. You care deeply and it shows in the care that you give daily.

My mother is currently a rehab patient. We live it. Is it perfect? No. But neither is home. There is a sense of community and family. I never worry about not being there with my 91 year old mother. Having been a nurse for 30 years, I held my breath with this admission. I have been wonderfully surprised. Any issue or question I have raised have been quickly and appropriately addressed. The staff really tries to work with the individual needs of each person. The food is great. It is super clean. Smells fresh when you walk the halls. Our little dog can visit. I highly recommend rehab.

Our experience here was very good. We fully understood that our mother was not going to get one-on-one care from nursing or nursing assistants. They worked very well together and provided the help she needed. The rehab staff is 2nd to none. I would highly recommend this for either short term rehab or for someone that needs long term care. My mother was extremely satisfied and if circumstances warrant would use this facility again!

Golden Living Centers is really nice. It is a well maintained and beautiful site. As for activities and food, it appears to be right on. My father liked the food, and he eats it. When he was there, they had like an Easter thing but he did more rehab than he did any kind of activity. He had rehab at a certain time a day and then went back to sleep. I think he did bingo a few times, but that is about it. The overall atmosphere is good, and the staff is very nice. They answered all questions if you have any issues, and everything was fine.

My mother spent 10 months at Golden Living prior to passing away. The care Golden Living provided was poor. The nursing facility is under staff. The rehab and nursing team was not on the same page. with my mother care. Rehab place knee brace on my mom and nursing staff remove. Rehab was not aware nursing had remove the brace until brought to their attention by the family. The communication as I observed it was poor. I would NOT recommend this facility for patients that need 24 hours care.

I had high hopes that this facility would meet the positive reviews I had read despite aa couple of negative reviews re: staffing and response time. I was admitted at 2pm following 6 days hospital care following total knee replacement to continue my rehabilitation. I had to call 911 to have EMS transpot me to Vidant ER because they would not or could not (depending on which 3 versions I have heard) provide my pain medication (which was ordered q 3 hrs in the hospital) on request about 5 hours after my last administration. I then asked for medication to head of a panic attack, also refused. This problem points to problems in staffing. My friend was told they did not have anyone available who could administer the narcotic medication. My brother was told that it was not due until 5am (I had asked for it between 1 and 2 am. ). I was told they did not have any medication available for pain and would not until they got their delivery the next day. When I realized that my pain was getting ahead of me, I demanded they call my doctor or send me to the er. They did not. I am in agony and full panic mode by this time. There is no one during all of this that is offering any options, like ice. I was told by a can to settle down and be quiet. This is all going on over a period of hours. I call my MD. He hears me hyperventilating and instructs me to call 911 and go to ER which o did. Again no one was in the room trying to help me and I am screaming in agony and panic. EMS arrives and is taking me out of the room and magically the nurse appears with my medication. Issues: staffing: presence of staff credentialed to administer narcotic medication, knowledge of staff to offer optioo for increasing comfort if medication not available at the time, training of staff to deal appropriately with patients who are having a hard time. Response time. It was approximately 20 minutes from the first time I used the call bell until someone arrived to see what I needed. My roommate told me it could take 30 minutes or more.for them to come. The nurse arrived about 10 minutes later. By that time my pain was getting ahead of me. She told me I did not have anything and left. I rang the call bell again, no one was responding, my pain and panic were rising and it was at that time I started screaming and yelling. The response I got from a CNA was to settle down and be quiet. To be fair, the facility appears clean and the OT and PT staff I met seemed to be competent and caring. But I have yet to hear from the Director of Nursing (several messages left for her to call me). I think this is probably a better than average place, but before placing a loved one there, visit, and visit at different times of the day. Talk to the residents and ask about how long it takes to get a call button responded to. Ask about how medications, especially narcotics, are administered and if there is credentialed staff there all the time so if a dose in the middle of the night is needed, it can be administered. Ask to see what training their staff receives, and what percentage actually complete these trainings. Visit after midnight to see what night shift is like.my experience was so bad I refused to go back and I would do everything in my power to stay out of a nursing facility in the future.

My mother was a resident of Golden Living for a little over 2 years. During that time I felt that my mother was very well taken care of. The nurses and CNA's were very professional, caring and some of the most dedicated and hard working individuals I have ever encountered. She received excellent speech, physical and occupational therapy. The activities and recreation staff was topnotch. I always felt my mom was in loving and capable hands. When my mother passed, one of the activities and recreation staff was by my side. One CNA who was not working at the time of my mother's passing, came out to GLC to be by my side. She also volunteered to give my mom a bath before someone from the funeral home came to pick her up. This was 11:00 on a Saturday evening. I believe this qualifies for going above and beyond the call of duty. Several of the staff came to her funeral. Sending a parent to a nursing facility is never an easy decision, but I was always sure that my mother was given the best care possible.

The place is quite large, and it's just in the suburban area. The staff is professionals and courteous. I notice a nice sense of humor in several nurses because i over heard them joking and carrying on a conversation with a few residents. I was there to visit my cousin and he told me the staff treats him great and shows him respect and he couldn't ask for a better place to live. During my visit i also notice how clean the place was. The food that was being cooked smelled delicious. As i was leaving, walking out the front entry the staff members at the front desk told me "" have a nice day"" the communications were awesome. Two thumps up
