Sick of nursing home neglect

They should know that reviews matter. As I stated to the director on the day paperwork was done for my relative the reviews were horrible how can I be at peace or assured that my relative would get good care as he is coming from a critical situation and can't be ignored. I was told by the director my relative will be taken care of. Unfortunately, that was not truth, he was there for 4 days and was found in medical distressed by mom and I with no help around from the facility no one could find a nurse, and I had to call EMS less than 30 days later he passed away... From basically no care at this facility while he was there... Our family have been completely heartbroken from this unnecessary loss I could really add more to this review but hopefully this will be enough for you to pray and seek somewhere else.

Oh gosh, where do I begin?!?! This facility was good when my relative first moved in with the administrator and the DON but over the past yr it has slowly went downhill since the new administration took over. The current administrator and DON are absolutely horrible and "DO NOT CARE" about the residents, staff, or the families!!! It has greatly affected the staff with horrendous turnover because they are not treated with respect. They are talked to like dogs which spirals down to the care of the residents. There has been a LOT of wonderful staff that have resigned because of the new administration. If it wasn't for the "WONDERFUL Nurse Practitioner" and a couple of other staff members looking out for my relative the past year I'm not sure what would have happened until we got my relative out of there. Please heed to this review and "DO NOT" put your relative there!!! The new Dir of Operations of the bldg. and State was in the facility about 5 or 6 weeks ago in which I still did not see any changes for the good. I pray that God will continue to intervene there and look out for the residents, staff, and families. Please "DO NOT" put your relative in this facility!!!

The nurses and CNAs were wonderful! The directors were misleading and outright liars to me. This place almost killed my husband in 40 hours. Found this to be a pattern with other families as well.

Had my husband there for less than 40 hours when he had to have 911 called with pneumonia and sepsis. Told the Nursing Director and other administrators that my husband was allergic to maltodextrin and had bad reactions to it. Said that he was NOT to get any tube feed that contained it. Nursing Director gave it to him ANYWAY so he is now at home from having been in the hospital for 5 days. He is dying and under hospice care now. Thank you you greedy, lying, self-serving administrators.

My husband is in Blumenthal Nursing and Rehab. They're really good. I don't know about the food because I haven't been in there, and they won't let us get in. I can see him outside but not in. The facility is nice. There is transportation. The staff that I have met are very nice. He has been in there a month and a half now, but I'm not sure what they do for activities.

Blumenthal Nursing & Rehabilitation has a range of care, but it's primarily a nursing home. They have a talented staff, the facility is in the process of being upgraded, and it has a good environment. The aesthetic wasn't the highest, but it was a good value.

My dad has been living at Blumenthal Nursing & Rehabilitation for three months. It's one of the best ones in Greensboro. The staff is very nice and pleasant. It’s a wonderful place. The place is beautiful and everything is topbnotch. They have parties, outings, facials, hand care, nail polish, games, and movies. They have a whole listing of things that people want to participate in. They have people coming in to sing and play the piano. It's just a warm and beautiful sight. I have had a large issue with the nursing staff in the rehab area which is being addressed, and it's about my dad not eating for four days. I repeatedly told the nurse, but it was pretty much put off as, "It's OK, they have good and bad days" but my dad got extremely dehydrated and that’s why he's in the hospital right now. The staff is wonderful, but the two nurses who didn't pay attention to him were not. The food is fabulous, and they give out ice cream. It's a lovely place overall. It kind of has the appearance of a little resort with beautiful side rooms for visits and several lobbies. The cost is comparable to everywhere else.

Grateful for the kind care

My father stayed at this facility for about 3 weeks following an accident and surgery to his leg. The Facility itself was clean and well kept. The nursing and rehab staff were personable and friendly and provided the attention and care that my father required. The admin check in was painless and from the very beginning of his stay until the day we checked out, he had excellent care.

This place is appalling. Not a week goes by that my mother doesn't fall or sustain some sort of injury. She can't feed herself or walk and sometimes she gets taken to the tv room and is left for who knows how long. Very few of the staff help her and when she first went out there we got notices of delivery of three different types of heavy hospital-type equipment which was charged to her insurance. (Several thousand dollars.) Sometimes when we go she is lying in bed with spilled food all around her. This place is all she can afford and it isn't fit for animals, much less the elderly. She is there because I had a stroke and couldn't lift her and move her or do any of the things she requires. This is a nursing home mill and little else. I don't know how they remain open.

My grandmother stayed here, and it was horrific. I can't begin to imagine what she went through... There were multiple times she would be naked with only a diaper on and sitting in the main room because the nurse failed to dress her, they did not care at all about her health and failed to provide proper treatment meaning she had multiple hospital visits only after my mother would take her (the nurses refused to call for an ambulance or even get her treatment, one time even claiming that the hospital wasn't open on the weekend - oh please), and she seemed to stay in a state of confusion and would be very upset when there. When we moved her to a different home, she suddenly improved and became the happy and sweet woman I remembered. She also suffered from several falls and always seemed to have new bruises, but was too afraid to tell us what happened. Seeing some of the other reviews posted around about this place shows that it still hasn't changed one bit. People should be aware of what they are getting into here.

If you need a Skilled Nursing Center DO NOT go to Blumenthals. My Mom is there and had gotten more active over the past few months. She was finally talking to us and recognizing us when we came to visit. She got too active for the staff there so they started giving her morphine so she wouldn't be a bother. Every time I get the pain medicine canceled and she gets back to her normal self, they prescribe something else. She will be loopy like she has been drinking and when I question it the nurse says "She's not lethargic." She was so loopy one day that she was about to fall out of her wheelchair. We had to request that they put her in bed so she wouldn't get hurt. They do not have time for people that need attention. Stay far far away

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My brother was at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation. He was put there because he didn't want to go to hospice. He had other friends who were there. They had good food, and they had a lot of foreigners his age, but they had the system where they have to see the light outside your room, and that can be slow. I've heard comments from families that they're not too involved there. Overall and as far as cleanness, they were very clean, they seemed to keep up with the place very well, and the food was good. Communication wasn't always the best. We couldn't tell what was going on sometimes as far as they started off with his physical therapy, they stopped that without informing us, and later they just found out that it would not do him any good. They probably need to improve on response time and communication.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother feels like Blumenthal Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation is her home. She has one of the larger rooms there. I think the staff is doing an excellent job because she was in her mid-nineties when she went in because she had fallen and she went in for rehab. After she got there, she never once said anything about going back to her apartment, and she loves it over there. I think that they actually had extended her life the way that they take care of her. I don't think she would be alive today if she was living on her own. We love it. It is not that close to me, and it would be nice if she was closer. One of the things they could improve on is the housekeeping in the bathroom area, but other than that they keep the place very clean. Overall, I think that they are doing an excellent job, and she is in one of the better places around. It is not the cheapest, but I think they have extended her life.

Blumenthal Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation had a reputation for being one of the better ones in the area. I don't have anything but good things to say about them. I have no problem with the care that was given. My father was there for three months, and I felt like they looked after him. It was a nice clean place, they had decent food and decent activities, and he was well cared for. It is a good place. He was in a single room with a view outside and a nice courtyard outside. If you have to be in a nursing facility, this is a good one.

I visited this facility

This facility is definitely one of the best in the area. The physical therapy department is incredible and our family member showed significant progress during their stay here. The new Administrator has made many positive changes to both the staff and the level of care, and I truly believe my father is in good hands. The nurses are knowledgeable, attentive, and the express the level of care you want your loved ones to be provided with.

I wish we had known not to put our family member in this place. He was left sitting for long periods of time in a wheelchair after coming out of hospital and still very sick. After being there for 3 days we insisted he be taken back to hospital on an ambulance.I think he would have died if we had left him there.
