My mother is situated at Brookdale Union, and everything is going very well. They have very nice people who give very good care. I've interacted with some of the staff members, like the ladies that come into her room, and I've naturally met the executive director and administrative personnel. They are very, very competent, very professional women. Her room is very nice, everything is nice and kept up. My mother has truly enjoyed the meals, they have very nice food preparation. My mother has a newsletter. They get a newsletter every week with activities and everything, and a calendar for the whole month. They also get handouts each day on what's going on that day. They have beauty and hair facilities, they have activities, meet and greets, discussions, they play bingo, they walk and talk with each other, and look at the birdcage or the fish. They have a variety of things, they also meet and discuss topics sometimes, it's very good. They have a mixed group of people of various ages. Some people can see, some can't, and there are guys that can't hear, so they have a variety of things to consider. And most of the people are 70 some years old or above. There are some places that are better, but could cost $3,000-4,000 more, and some places are probably worse. I'm very thankful that I made the right decision. Considering all, it's a positive environment, so it works for us.

We toured Brookdale Union. It has a game room, and it's pet-friendly. They have a library and postal service. It has a keypad service. It has a craft studio, a porch, a greenhouse and garden, beauty, and a barbershop. It has transportation and it has emergency alert systems. They have some nice stuff. If I was going to live there, that might be where I would be if I can afford it. The food was good and they served it with a side salad. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. They have a full list of activities.

Brookdale Union had large rooms. I didn't get much of a chance to see much of the community. The person that was taking me on the tour felt very rushed and I wasn't comfortable with her in particular. But all of the staff that I met along the way were very friendly. When I went to the dining area, they weren't serving food at that time. It seemed to me the rooms themselves were maybe a little bit larger by a few feet. I didn't get a good feeling about it. They didn't have any brochures, so she wrote all the costs down in my notebook because they didn't have any paperwork available. The dining area was very clean and very spaced out. You can see it could hold a large number of people. Everything looks nice. They had very nice walkways around the building.

Brookdale Union was affordable. It felt like home. I met and talked to a staff member and I liked that she was clear, concise, and gave me the information I needed. I also liked the size of the rooms and how clean the place was. They weren't updated, but they were still in good condition.

Brookdale Union is good at keeping my father-in-law up and looking after him. He's moved into their assisted living and I'm well pleased with it. The design is wonderful and the upkeep is good. They have some real hard workers there too. They're very caring and they work hard taking care of the many residents. They have plenty of activities but my father-in-law doesn't care to do any. He says that the food is very good though and he likes what they serve him. I think he gets good value from it.

My friend has moved into Brookdale Union and has been there for two weeks now. The staff is warm, caring, genuinely interested in the welfare of the residents and very helpful. We had a few abnormal things that happened during the move-in, but they were very gracious and helpful. My friend said the food is mostly OK, but she's very particular with the food. Her room is very clean and pretty spacious considering that she is in a semi-private room. They had repainted and recarpeted it before she moved in, so it was in a new condition. They aren't utilizing the dining area at the moment because of Covid, but it looked like a dining room/activity area. It looked warm and clean. They had Christmas caroling the other day. They have arts and crafts. I don't know everything that they do, but I know some of the things that my friend has done. They got to see some decorations, and they created some angels for the tree. I'm very happy about this place. It's one of the most affordable places that we found.

My dad's room at Brookdale Union was nice, it was a standard room and not very big at all. But he has a bathroom that he shared with a roommate, twin-sized beds, and nothing fancy about it. The staff is okay, they were pretty nice folks just doing their job, nothing above and beyond. It was pretty standard care overall. They also had activities, but he didn't get to do a lot of stuff because of the quarantine.Their facilities and amenities were pretty nice. They had a wealth of network of support within the community and I'm happy about that.

Brookdale Union has had its ups and downs, however the new management team has proved better days are arising. The residents seem happier than before, they are engaging in more daily activities and trips. The facility is clean and always smells clean. The staff is always interacting with the residents and making them smile and laugh. I would recommend Brookdale Union to any of my friends and family, especially with this new team of leaders.

I did visit Brookdale Union. It wasn’t clean, and it's very filthy. Nothing there was clean including the staff.

They have good people here at Brookdale Union. It is not a bad facility, but it is not as upscale as some of the others. All the rooms are shared rooms. Some of the patients need total care, and if you don't get a good room person, it's probably going to reflect on the property. I wouldn't down-grade them for that, but I think that is one of things you do run into probably no matter where you go. I didn't notice a real recreational room where you go watch TV and gather around and socialize. It's like the lobby is the main place where that happens.

The staff members at Brookdale Place Union were all very friendly and helpful. Their interaction with the residents was very nice. I could see them talking to people and all that, even though I was not near them. I was trying to observe as best as could how they treated the residents without them knowing that I was watching them, and I was very impressed with their kindness and patience and their smiles. The rooms were well lighted, clean, and cheerful looking. I saw their menu, and I was impressed with their meals and snacks, but I did not eat a meal there. I looked into their dining room, and it looked very elegant with cloth napkins and napkin rings; it looked like a restaurant. They had Bingo, day trips, fitness classes, and singing. They had all sorts of stuff. It was very homey and open, the hallways were very spacious and wide, it was all well lighted, and it looked like a home rather than an institution. It was just very nice.

Gaston Manor was nice. They had very customer-friendly people. It was very clean, but it was a little older facility. The rooms were a little bit smaller and a little bit older. However, they were clean and nice. The staff, from my observation, was very knowledgeable and seemed to be attentive to the residents.

Gaston Manor looked nice and clean. The personnel who worked there seemed to be very happy and went out of their way to talk to me even if I didn't have any real appointment. They went out of their way to show me around quickly and answered any questions for me. They seemed to really like their job; they like working with the residents. It all looked good to me.

Two of my aunts are in Gaston Manor. The main reason why they want to go there is because it has a homier atmosphere and I think that they like that part. The activity director there tries to keep something going for them all the time. However, one of my aunts has cancer and she does not feel like going a lot. But they try to get her out. My other aunt has not been well either, but she tries to join in the activities in the facility like the Christmas party they have. It is well organized and there are number of relatives that come as they try to make the families involved. One of my aunts is picky with the food, but she doesn't complain about the food and they are very complimentary about the meals. Most of the staff is very accommodating. They have very caring people. I have a problem with one of my aunt's laundry. But when I talk to the lady, she gets on with it right away. They have a shared room, which is big in size with two beds. It is bright, airy and cheerful. They are very comfortable there.

Gaston Manor is a nice facility. I visited the place and I liked it and I even want to move in, but they are expensive. I looked at one of their rooms and it's a nice. The dining room has a nice cooking area. It was a really nice facility. I really have nothing against it. The people are really nice and the lady that I talked was really nice. I would surely recommend this facility to people who can afford the price.

It was comfortable. The rooms were okay but a bit small. The staff were professional. However, my aunt had a dog that needed to be walked outside; my concern was how that could be possible without being a huge problem to my aunt. They needed to have a better perimeter around the property.
