My mom and dad now live at Brookdale New Hope. My mom started in a single unit and then my dad decided to come. And so they got a two-bedroom unit and it's very comfortable for them. The facility is not very large, but it's well-appointed. The staff is nice. There's a few little hiccups with billing and all that. They don't make it very understandable what some of their charges are upfront, but we got all that ironed out and everything is good now. The food has been good for the most part, and mom had a hiccup with the prescriptions. They ran out of prescriptions on one particular one and weren't able to get it. So we've had to do that on our own, but aside from that, everything has been pretty good. They have games. I've seen several residents in there playing chess together or doing puzzles. They have people that come in and sing so they can sing along with them or come and watch I guess as a form of entertainment. They've got exercise equipment. They also have some road trips occasionally that are offered to the residents and then they'll have a particular celebration for a holiday or something. They'll do something special and have family members participate as well. All in all, the facilities are very comfortable. It's not too big, so there's not a lot of walking to the cafeteria and this type of thing. So, it works out well for my family.

Brookdale New Hope was a larger facility but well-staffed with the appropriate level of caregivers. It is one level so that ambulation of the resident would be easy. They have restaurant-style dining. They have activities to promote their social interaction, and their medical care would be addressed appropriately at that facility.

I went to Brookdale New Hope. It was one that I liked. My only thing with New Hope is they have extremely small showers. The bathroom seems to be small and I imagine it works, but I couldn't imagine having to go in with a walker. Great staff, a lot of the staff have been there for a long time, which is good. There's not a lot of turnovers. Very clean. Their menus have choices, if you don't like one, you can like the other, which I thought was very nice, and you could request a specific meal for yourself. Great property, in a great location.

We visited Brookdale. They were fine, but they only offer assisted living. The staff was nice, worked around my work schedule, and was accommodating. It was well lit, cheerful, and clean.

Brookdale New Hope is nice, but the reason why we are not doing it is because we cannot afford it. They charge way too much money. The staff people were nice. The rooms were decorated nicely, but they were too small. The facility location is too close to the highway or too close to New Hope, which is a busy road, but it was clean and well-kept.

We visited Brookdale, New Hope and thought it was rather nice. It was clean and in a nice location; I was rather impressed with it. The staff was very polite and helpful. There were nice apartments, and the dining room was cafeteria-style.

Brookdale New Hope (formerly Abingdon Place of Gastonia) was not as large as the other ones, but it seemed to be well organized, and the rooms were very nice. The atmosphere was good. However, they told us after visiting with my sister-in-law that they couldn't provide the skilled nursing care that they assumed she needed. I don't think she needs that much skilled nursing care, and they said they couldn't handle her. The rooms were very well laid out and clean, and semi-privates were separated around the corner, so they felt like small, private rooms. They're very clean. The staff was very informative, very nice, and discussed our problems with us. They sent their nurse out to the present location of my sister-in-law to look into her needs, but they said they couldn't help us.

My dad is in Brookdale New Hope. We like the convenience, and it is pretty close to his friends. The place is pretty nice and pretty upscale. It is pretty good and well maintained. It is clean, and the staff seems to be on top of things in taking care of the patients. It is a good place and close to lots of things. It is close to a hospital and restaurants.

At Brookdale Place New Hope, my brother is only a mile from my house. We have seen the place for many years on the corner, and it is a pretty place. The final thing was they gave us a better deal than another one that we had considered. I guess another thing is that my brother has an acquaintance who lives there. My brother is 84 and blind, and he opposed it very much until he finally realized he had to go somewhere, so then it was easier to get him there where he knew somebody. The staff is excellent, and his room is perfect. He likes the food and he says everything they make is good.

I didn't like Abingdon Place of Gastonia. The people weren't as friendly as the people in other facilities. It wasn't inviting. My parents are very down to earth; they just didn't feel the love and it was not comfortable for them. We asked questions and they never elaborated on anything. They had less caregivers and is short of staff. The location was good and well kept, but they had a lot of work to do.

We looked at Abingdon Place. I've have a friend of mine who had her mother there. It is a 5-star place. It's a really nice facility. The rooms were spacious and their dining room was very nice. It looks like you are in a fine dining restaurant. My friend's mother really liked it there.

Abingdon Place in Gastonia is a good place, but I only went there to visit and inquire. The surroundings were beautiful, and you can see that it's a place that's well-kept. I didn't get to make a thorough visit, but I could say that the admin and the rest of the staff were really helpful, and welcoming. The facility itself looks very warm and pleasant but it's too expensive for me. I checked if they accept medicare, medicade unfortunately it's not covered. I didn't get to eat there because i just visited the facility.
