I was concerned at first about putting my father in a facility we went and checked out several places at the time but when we met with the staff at Brookdale Forest City they was so kind and helpful I knew this was the place for him. My dad has been there now almost 6 months and he loves it they are such a great group of people. Every time I ask dad if he wants to go somewhere for the weekend or anytime he says no I am good this says a lot to me about the place.

I went to look at Brookdale Forest City. I like the spacious rooms on the assisted living side. The rooms were set up almost like efficiency apartments without a stove, so it was really cute. It had a bedroom that was big enough for a single bed, a dresser, a chair, and a TV stand. It was more spacious than others. They have a nice garden area. It's like an enclosed patio. It's opened at the top, but the building surrounds it. It kind of sits in the center of the building. They had raised flower beds where people could grow and plant plants and flowers. They also had benches and a table with an umbrella. It was a nice little area. They also had physical therapy on the side of assisted living, which was pretty large. It was very spacious. They have a kitchen. The rooms and flooring need to be updated. It just seemed old. There were areas where it was dark. The dining room had a wood floor, which was fine. They had a large table in there. It kind of reminds me of the lodge in the dining room. The sitting room had a fireplace, which was nice. They had another large table in there and a few chairs. It's a small facility, so they get more one-on-one. The residents seem to get along quite well. They're very chatty.

My sister has early onset dementia and has been with Brookdale for over a year now. I appreciate the way they communicate, care, and advocate for my sister. I'm thankful we have found a safe and loving environment for her.

Brookdale Forest City was very nice, very accommodating, and very easy to talk to. They answered all my questions. They had a room that was very much like what my mother-in-law is in now, which is a wide-open, big room with its own bathroom, but they did not have one available for us. Their activity board had a lot of things on it. They actually had a group doing some activity in a room and there was a gentleman there (a resident) that played the organ beautifully every day. So, that was nice.

My dad has been in Brookdale Forest City for a month now. The living atmosphere is terrific. Everything about it is good; I haven't found anything wrong with it. He loves the food there. The dining area is very fancy, very nice, and very homey. It doesn't look like an assisted living facility at all. They have all kinds of activities for them to do. They've got a calendar they put out every month and it's got all their activities on it. They got arts, different crafts, and all kinds of different things for them. They have a salon, a recreation room, and a rehab facility. The room is like a room in one of your houses would be. You can't tell any difference. It's very homey. It has a little sink, a refrigerator, a kitchenette, and a full bath. It's well worth the money. It's very well kept. We're very lucky to get him to be there.

Brookdale Forest City is great. Their main concern is the happiness and welfare of their patients, which nobody else has kind of expressed. In their memory care (which is where my uncle is going), they have one lady that stays in that area with all the patients all day. She makes sure that they've got everything they need and that they're there doing stuff they want to do. She finds what interests they have, and she tries to expand all those interests. She makes sure they have an opportunity to do the things they like to do. So far, what we saw during the tour was great. The people there were great. The room they showed us was nice, spacious, and roomy. They don't have private bathrooms in the rooms. They have the bathrooms down the hall for that particular area. For my uncle, that would be fine, and that's also so they can manage the residents better. They have an exercise area, a garden area, a nice eating area, a community area, and even a woodworking area. They have a lady that is a country cook. She does all the cooking for them. She baked us some homemade chocolate chip cookies.

We toured Brookdale Forest City and it was excellent. Everyone that was involved with the tour was very polite, respectful, upbeat, positive, and very thorough about everything. We liked the community layout, it was nice. We saw everything like the dining room, the gymnasium or the fitness room, and the library. We saw a 1-bedroom apartment, a 2-bedroom apartment, and a garden. The rooms were spotless and they were plenty big enough. We saw some of their artworks and they have them displayed. We saw what kind of arts and crafts they do. We saw the big organ and we met the elderly man who plays the organ with the singing group. We saw the menu and what they were having that evening meal. They give the residents a choice so you're not stuck eating whatever they give you.

Brookdale was the facility that was able to understand how to help a resident with dementia. They worked with the family to really know and understand the resident and help the resident with daily activities. Providing activities that involve the resident and get that resident involved. The most important quality that Brookdale provides is that they really CARE. Also they have the training to help residents with proper dementia care. I would say to anyone who has a loved one who is suffering from dementia to consider Brookdale to care for that loved one. It is the best facility around for this terrible illness.

I like that it was local; my mother-in-law is there. The staff is very good, very knowledgeable, and friendly. Sanitation is very good and well-maintained. The room is spacious with new bathroom and closets, and it’s a got a living room where we can turn, and it got enough room. The staff is very attentive to her needs.

I thought it was really nice and gorgeous. It was close to where I live. I thought the grounds were lovely and well-kept. I talked to the residents and everyone was pleased with the care they received. They could have more activities for the residents. I would certainly recommend this facility.

The environment was great as compared to the others that we looked at. The staff was very friendly and seemed like very caring people. The rooms that we looked at were more than adequate. I would recommend them to others.
