I chose NC State Veterans Nursing Home for Dad. Its good, the staff is very polite and very helpful, and the place is very clean. Its homey, and the food is really good. His room is good, big, and well-lit. They have bingo, cards, and movies. Their facility is set up for veterans, and only veterans can go there. I'm satisfied.

My dad has been in the locked memory care wing for just over a year. The staff has been unbelievably great, always taking a moment for me if I have a question, concern, or dad needs help toileting. The food was mediocre, but has gotten pretty good over the last several months and continues to improve. There are twice-monthly group meetings for family members, and quarterly in-depth one-on-one health care meetings. I've visited the facility at least 100 times, and have smelled human waste on maybe only two occasions - very impressive.

My mother was a resident on B wing for 3 years before she passed. Cleaning and cooking staff were very good. I had many conversations with the top administrator and staff under her. The conversations were a waste of time. If you have a problem file a written grievance or call the police. I lost count of the many complaints to DHHS concerning her care. Scabies.fractured bone, black eye just to name a few of the health care problems my mother suffered at this facility.

We are in the process of trying to get my grandfather into North Carolina State Veterans Home. It seems to be very active, bright, and open.

NC State Veterans was a fairly new place and impressive from the little I saw of it. It was clean, airy, peaceful and without that antiseptic smell. Also, I have heard good reviews from friends of my husband who went there.

My husband lived at NC State Veterans Nursing Home. I chose it because it was a nice place, he's a veteran and I could afford the price. The staff were very good, very caring and super great. He was in a shared room, and it was nice and kept clean. The food looked good although I have not tried it and my husband was on pureed diet. Gardening was part of his therapy and he liked that. They had a lot of activities all the time. I thought that he was adjusting well and made new friends. I would recommend this place to any veteran.
