My sisters live in MerryWood on Park. The first person that we met who was in charge of the new applicants was very cordial. When we found that place, it was very pleasant and very nice. What I thought was lacking was the staff itself. There was a lack of information, like an introduction. In most places that we have been looking at, the first thing they said that they would do was that the residents would be introduced to the community there and be shown around by somebody, and it didn't happen there. So, that was one disappointment. My sisters felt like they were left out. The food was great though and everything else like the dining situation and all that is pretty good. After they got to know the staff more, we felt that they were open and friendly. My sisters live in a two-bedroom apartment that was fixed up for them. As far as the living situation itself, for some reason, they were getting a lot of insects in their room, and even roaches. We alerted them to that. They fumigated, but they're still coming in from somewhere and they haven't found the source. It's within the right location for us, because we're only 20 minutes apart, and the price is reasonable. They offer entertainment, they bring in people from outside that talk about food and health, and they have a gym where they can go and exercise (they have a staff for that). They also have plenty of hobbies they said they can do, like creative stuff.

It was an excellent community, very warm, and inviting. The staff was excellent and knowledgeable. Everybody just seemed to care. The people living there would meet and greet everybody that works there with first names. It was a clean area. It seemed very safe, and the rooms they provide were awesome. They showed us the independent living because even though we were interested for my sister-in-law, we are also thinking about ourselves for next year. It was a great place.

I toured and I like the atmosphere there. They had several things. They have activity boards and everything. The residents seemed happy and fine.

The interior seemed lighter and more cheerful. We like that there were a number of smaller areas dedicated for different purposes. Besides a library and a chapel, there are some other areas dedicated for crafting, too. The dining area looked bright and cheerful. The greeting area probably made for one of the nicest first impressions. They had a social hour in the late afternoon while we were there, and it looked like people were taking advantage of that. Overall, this presented a more welcoming feel. There were more people out and about and interacting.
