My grandfather has moved into Yancey House. I feel like it was a good fit for him. It's clean and the people seem very nice. He's happy with the food and the care. It was one of the only places that would take him with type 1 diabetes. His room is not as big as other places that I had seen previously, but overall, he's happy. It's a double room, but he's currently in it by himself, so it's very spacious for him by himself right now. When you put another person in it, it's probably very ordinary, like what you would expect to be for a double room. They clean it once a week and they do his linens and towels once a week. They have an activities calendar and they do different things. His favorite has been the live music so far. They brought in several people that do guitar and sing and he likes that they have church service twice a week. They have various games and karaoke nights, etc. I'm happy with the activities. My grandmother has been there several times with my grandfather at dinnertime and she said that he's happy with the food. It's one of the lower-cost places that we found. It's a nice place.

I have been associated with this facility for 7 years now. I have a family member here. The building and grounds are very nice, even the rooms. However, don't be fooled by apperances..The cafeteria food is very undesirable. These elderly folks need nourishing meals instead of 2 pieces of stale bread with ham and cheese only....or very runny tuna salad with lots of mayo served with broccoli salad with lots of mayo on a lettuce leaf..There are little to NO activities. They play bingo every once in a while. The residents are always saying to me "please get us some food we can eat and we need activities" Breaks my heart and makes me angry!!!! What do you think?? Does this sound like a place to want to stick your mother or father??????

This facility is the greatest place I believe I have ever been in. Everyone that works at this facility is amazing. What stood out the most about this place is the love and compassion from everyone that works at the Yancey House. I have visited many facility assistant Living, nursing’s homes and none of them compared to this place. They care about all of the people in this home. They’re not too busy to stop and listen, give them a big hug, or tell them they love them. What a wonderful blessing too know that their is a amazing place like this to bring a member of your family and not worry about them. I seen this first hand from visiting my brother there. No matter how busy they are they take time with these people with so much love and kindness. From the office personnel to CNA’s To Med Tech's. I was there on first shift though 3rd shift and they all was the same loving caring and compassionate. So if anyone in doubt about the Yancey House In Burnsville N.C. This is like a no other place I have ever been into. I wished I could rate it a 100 I would! Because everyone that works there is #1 and will always be. Thank you all for taking great care of my Brother Jim.

They never answer the phone and after 2 weeks of trying to get ahold of my family member I finally get to talk to her and the connection was so bad I could only understand every other word. So if you would like to keep in contact with your family member I wouldn't recommend this place for them to live

I thought Yancey House was clean. It’s fairly-new; like seven or eight years old. So, I’m sure that helps make it look better, and the rooms are spacious. It’s a small facility; which I like, and they had a lovely spa-type bathroom facility. It's separate from the bathroom in each room, and I thought that was a nice little feature for people who could use it. I was impressed by the cleanliness. There was no smell when you went into it. They have daily activities like most of the homes: games, Bingo, and they take the people out as often as they can on field trips. It’s just overall a nice facility.
