It literally broke my heart to drive away from this facility after placing my aging father there. Severely understaffed, the quality of care is as lacking as the environment at Sapphire Ridge. There is one staff member that has really made an effort to help my father settle in and seems to care about his comfort, and that is Patrick. Otherwise, the only positive thing I can say is that they work with Medicaid patients and that they have the potential to be a good option for patients needing round the clock care. At present, however, I would not recommend Sapphire Ridge for placing a vulnerable parent or loved one.

My mother has moved into Sapphire Ridge. There are only two places right nearby me that take Medicaid, and this one is only three miles from where I work. She's been in there for about two-and-a-half weeks now. They're short on nursing staff. They're not getting the proper care that's needed for skilled nursing. She likes the meals. They're very good about the activities. They have a calendar of events. They have a salon, but they don't have anybody there that can cut hair. They seem short-staffed on the rehab because she gets an hour and 15 minutes, and then they got too many other people to go to and do things with. Mostly staffing is the issue of the whole place. They can't take care of the people. Her room is sufficiently sized. it's a ridiculous amount of money for not getting the services that you need if you have to sit there for two-and-a-half hours to get a nurse to come to your room and it's $9000 you're paying a month, or if you have to lay in your own poop for three hours, that's not cool. They need to get more help and get people that will get up and move and go take care of the people when they hit the buzzer. They just sit there and play on their phones instead of going to go get them. It's right near downtown. It's only about 4 minutes to the hospital. It's a very good location.

The Bryan's Center wasn't just a nursing home, it also has people who are in recovery from accidents and surgeries and stuff. They do well with the funds they are given but it isn't the best place around. The reason It's of lower quality than others, I believe, is because they let their residents wander. That's fine for the recovery patients and stuff but the really sick people Id think should be watched more closely. The food was also akin to punishment. I know it's not supposed to be good but I mean it was almost inedible. The cleanliness wasn't exactly up to par either. There's got to be at least 200 people there so I know it cant be easy but I do have to give kudos to the nurses, they were always very attentive and not at all condescending or patronizing. They were always very respectful of even the "not-so-there" patients and surprisingly very accommodating to me as well.
