My mother was at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center. They're very good, very nice, and very supportive. Her room was really nice. They're nice, big rooms. The grounds were OK. Some rooms had their own bath in it. The staff was very good. They seemed to be very attentive and very friendly. They seemed to be very patient and kind with her. Every day they have something. They have a morning activity and then an afternoon activity. Sometimes they have evening activities. Sometimes they have themes. I know on the nursing week they had a cowboy female Western theme. They have manicures. They have movie nights. They're very creative. The dining area was OK, and the food was OK. They have a big bird cage. It was nice to watch the birds.

My mom is on her second stint here. I couldn't be more pleased with her care. The staff are great and are in constant communication with me regarding her care. Check out their Facebook page for everything they do with their residents.

I would not recommend the place to anyone. My Moma was there for 2 Weeks. The longest 2 weeks of her life and ours there was no rehab at all. She waited at least 20 minutes sometimes before someone would answer the call to take her to the restroom. There were 2 girls who were rough with my Moma. There was only 3 staff who really did there job. Thank goodness for her cellphone. It was our only connection with her. There were several times I would stay on the phone with her just waiting for someone to help her. I even thought about calling the facility to make sure her call button was working. She is 87 years old and did not deserve to be treated the way she was. Needless to say she will never go back there. If there is a zero rating that is what this facility would get from me.

My Mom was put in this facility a few times by family members. I live almost 3000 miles away. Few times for rehab and last time for permanent. She begged me to go there, I usually go back every year for her birthday, but I couldn’t wait and flew out. Found out they had her on meds she couldn’t be on and told them. She was on her way to be ward of the state with Medicaid. When I got home and called I was told they could not give me any more medical information on her and I would have to call POA. My sister was POA and she wouldn't answer my calls. Maybe she believed them? I called attorney, state and got her an advocate and drove there in motorhome to pick her up. She could not fly They said she wouldn’t make the trip and/or would be gone if she made it in 30 days. It’s been almost 9 months and her recovery is beyond a miracle. Don’t believe them! These patients are over drugged. She was listed as having Alzheimer’s and she doesn’t have that! It was the drugs. BS ...SHE IS THRIVING and Happy

My mother-in-law was in Mountain Ridge Wellness Center. It’s very nice and very pretty, but pretty doesn’t get you good care. She was in the rehab hall in a very nice, private room, but she fell once and they didn’t call and tell us. When she left the community, she had a urinary tract infection that they didn’t tell us about until we got her medicine filled. The staff’s work ethic was OK, but they could improve on communication with the family.

I chose Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab for my mother because it was in our community. Generally speaking, it had a great staff. It was probably one of the most professional staff that I have seen. But I found that there was a disconnect between the RNs and CNAs. I did not see the RNs supervising the CNAs. They had rehabilitation rooms that were for patients for a short time and it was very nice. And they had the restorative care rooms for the regular residents. The shared rooms were cramped and small. She had a private room which was one of the few in that hall. The restorative care was truly a bed patient and if you were mentally incapacitated, it was good. My mom's needs were between assisted living and skilled care. And I thought they did not know what to do with her. She did not fit in the mold, so maybe that was the reason for our difficulty. On the other hand, they offered a lot of activities but my mom did not participate in any.

Mountain Ridge Wellness Center was very nice. Everything was clean and everybody was helpful in showing us around. They have really nice rooms, which were spacious enough.

My sister researched several places then the social worker I worked with called Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab. I chose them because they have a place for me not that I heard good recommendations about them. Its close for my sister to visit, she lives in Black Mountain. When I got here, we talked about the goals I have and the strength level I need to be and what I need to do to get there. That's what I've been working towards and they've been working with me. I'm satisfied with that. I have a private room with a hospital bed and it's very comfortable. The staff is good. They are caring and make sure I have what I need. They work with everyone to their capacity, it's appreciated by me to watch them work with other people and know they are working as hard for me and with me as they are working for others. Food is institutional, some are very good but others are not fantastic but at the same time they offer some options and I appreciate that. I don’t like sausage and I don’t like anything peppery. I asked if I could have an egg and they never fail to give me a perfect egg every morning. It’s a small thing but it’s the kind of thing the kitchen does to accommodate the taste of various people. Their activities are card games, bingo and regular or cable tv. It's really a good place and I wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anybody.

It would have been helpful to know that therapy was offered as stated. Treatment of patients was not a priority billing and paper work seemed more important.
