I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I had a loved one in this facility. When they first entered the facility a week later I received a call that they had fallen. The staff in the dementia unit was overworked and had too many residents to take care of. Lots of times they would be wet and soiled. Then it got to the point that they begin to keep UTI problems . When they entered the facility they were walking and was suppose to get physical therapy. They forgot to d/c one prescription before adding another prescription. The loved one became very lethargic and unable to do the physical therapy and did not walk after then. This is just a few things that happen. Payer beware if you are thinking about placing a loved one in this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The Alzheimer unit should not have fabric chairs. they should have leather or some material that can be cleaned. We visit there and often times find chairs that have been wet by urine with towels laid over them. I know this happens because at times I see patients with wet pants. You can smell the chairs. That unit should be redone with bright colors. Most of the time it it clean considering the patients drop food and drink. The nurses and aids work very hard, but, it is almost impossible to take care of that number of patients and keep the place up. The entrance to the facility and all other areas are spotlessly clean and very pleasing to the eye. I have never smelled the facility upon entering as I have at other places. I feel that the alzheimer unit should be especially pleasing to the eye because these patients have no life to speak of and need any cheerfulness possible. I cannot say enough about how well the patients are treated. I do see the need for more help especially at meal times. My main concern is the need for chairs that can be washed, (not cloth or fabric)

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

September 2016 we placed a family member here after removing her from another facility. Kingswood is not fancy and does not have all the amenities some other places do but our loved one is not in condition to appreciate all those things. The memory care unit has been great. Our loved one is very content and has adjusted well. The place is very clean and the staff handles the patients well.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom is at Kingswood Nursing Center. It is an all-inclusive facility. It has assisted living, skilled nursing, and hospice all in one as well as physical therapy. It seems to be the perfect fit for my mom. They have a secure Alzheimer’s unit, which she needs, so it is exactly what she was looking for. The room is adequate. It is not luxurious. They do have mostly shared rooms. My mom is in a shared room, and it is good enough for what she does. She just goes to sleep in the room, and she spends most of her time in the common areas. They have worship services, word play, and a chair-type play that they do. They try to keep the residents active, and they try to keep their minds alert. We’ve checked out other places, but when we got to this place, my mom acted as if she were at home.

Kingswood Nursing is nice. I like the way they operate. The staff seemed to actually care about the patients.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

A bit slow to react to request but much better than the last place I had my Husband living at. They seem to have more concern for their patients. My husband is kept clean and well fed unlike the last place. He is there under medicare medicaid. I imagine if I had a fortune to spend he would be better cared for in a fancy expencive place. But for what I have available for the price, he is well cared for. I would reconmend this place for Alzheimer's patients.
