About Brookdale Williamsville in Williamsville, New York

At Brookdale Williamsville we know that memory losses due to Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia are progressive and residents' needs are continually changing. That's why we provide balance in our residents' capabilities, personalities, and preferences to create daily routines that enhance their spirits and increase their sense of purpose. We believe the amount of satisfaction our Alzheimer's and dementia care residents receive from the tasks that fill their days goes a long way to maintaining their sense of purpose and overall satisfaction with life. An integral part of this is our promise to encourage each resident to find Daily Moments of Success. To help our residents achieve these moments, our associates receive the tools and training needed in such key areas as specialized dining and the ongoing monitoring of healthcare and behavioral needs, to name a few. We provide Alzheimer's and dementia care residents with the lifestyle, housing, and services they need in comfortable surroundings combined with the amenities, programs, and care to help stimulate recognition, recall, and wellness in a safe environment. Familiar environments that our residents have enjoyed throughout their lives are recreated to help them feel reassured and comfortable. The Alzheimer's and dementia care programs at Brookdale Williamsville are built to embrace, not restrict our residents' desire to wander and to provide a sense of belonging. To learn more about this provider's license and review other available state reports, please visit: New York State Department of Health Adult Care Facility Directory

I visited this facility

My husband is on a waiting list at Brookdale Williamsville. What I like best about Brookdale is that the facility looks brand new and it's been there over 30 years. The staff seems very courteous and knowledgeable. The manager, Mary, is caring and concerned and has your best interests at heart. I was just very pleased with the facility. It felt like being at home. We saw two rooms. One was where you would have another person with you, and then there was a door open for the private room. And, it was a nice size. It looked like the woman had a dresser, a bed, and a couple of chairs. So to me, it seemed very nice, like a regular bedroom.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Williamsville was very homey and very clean. It didn't look like a facility or a nursing home. It looked almost like a hotel, the way it was set up and how they had the lounge or the lobby area set up. They were having an exercise activity in that lounge area for those residents who wanted to participate. That was nice to see coming in. The director of the facility accommodated me because the lady who was going to give me the tour was off that day. She was very nice. We sat and talked, gave us the tour and then we left.

I visited this facility

I toured Brookdale Williamsville. There was nothing I liked about it, except that the woman who guided me around was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I wouldn't like any family member being there because it was a sad environment. Everybody that I saw was an advanced memory care patient. The place is clean and the facilities are adequate. They had activities to stimulate mental capabilities. They have word games. I give it at least a four for somebody who needs significant memory care.

My father-in-law moved into Brookdale Williamsville. We are very satisfied with it. You feel like family when you go in there. Everybody is friendly and kind. Everybody is just very, very nice, and they take good care of my father-in-law. The other day we went in there and his slippers were missing. One of the girls stopped everything she was doing just to go find his slippers, which I thought was wonderful. We've liked her since day one. My father-in-law is a very busy man there. He's walking everywhere, and it just seems like there's always something for him to do. They have singalongs and they have music in the common room. The other day when we were there, they were having a party for somebody in the common room.

The tour I had at Brookdale Williamsville was not good. The case manager that was going to give me a tour didn't cancel her tour until about 11:30 in the morning. Staff stepped in and gave me a tour of memory care. The person who sat down with us initially, Judy, was the nurse who was covering for the case manager and she was excellent. She was very kind, compassionate, and thorough. Then an aide took us around to the building. They both did the best they could. I just thought the facility looked old and there's not a lot of warmth in there, like the way the furniture was laid out and there was no weekly schedule for any church services.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Williamsville was very clean. The residents looked like they were well taken care of. No one had greasy hair or stained clothes on, and that's important to me. The residents were having snack time when I was there and they were doing an ice cream float, in which they were all participating. That would be something that my mother-in-law would enjoy. The staff was very nice, very informative, and very engaged with the residents. They knew them by name, said hello, and asked how they were feeling. In the morning, they have some type of exercise that the staff does with the residents. Then in the afternoon (when I was there), they were doing some trivia. Their activities were geared toward the residents being able to remember, engage in, and participate. They had music, too, and the residents seemed to be responding to it. So, that was great.

My wife is in Brookdale Williamsville. I thought it was extremely well, but I know the covid hit there; they had some employees, and some residents that had it. I know the county health department went in, did a review on them, and gave them an excellent rating. But I think they had a change of hands as far as employees go, and I think some of the newer employees just aren't what they should be. I haven't been there since January 30 because I can't go. They told me they can't take care of her anymore, and she's gotta move on. The RN I've known for three years now said "No,no she's alright here, I don't know why they told you that." Up until that time, they gave her excellent care, and the place is great.

Brookdale Williamsville was very pleasant, bright, and clean. The residents appeared to like it, and it was very nice. The staff was very pleasant, welcoming, and introduced themselves. They had a patio, a dining room, and a kitchen where they could invite family to eat in private. It was a pretty nice place. The rooms were a little on the small side though.

Grandmother is in Brookdale. It's great and we love it there, but it's expensive. Some of the staff are really good with older people, but a few, should not be in that profession. The majority of the staff that work there are really great and they're super friendly. The dining area is nice and she raves about the food (I've never had it, but it looked good). The environment was very warm and very comfortable. They have a salon and a little kitchen where they can cook themselves.

We had moved my mother into Clare Bridge. She is doing much better. It is clean; the food is good. The staff is on top of what is going on; they’re aware of what the resident’s needs are. The room is larger than what she had, and she seems to like it much better. I think they do more watching and more checking.

My daughter went with me at Clare Bridge of Williamsville. As far as I can remember that facility is not what we needed, but the staff were knowledgeable.

Clare Bridge of Williamsville is a large facility. It's private pay. The place is awesome. My mother has been in Clare Bridge since December and she is coming out by the end of the year. They give her very good care. My mom also likes the food they serve there.

Overall I think that the facility was very nice. The staff were almost over friendly, willing to do anything you ask in a heartbeat. the rooms seemed cozy and i really like the lounge area where everybody can go to relax. my mother agree's with me on this. the thing i didn't like about the facility was the food they offered. it was terrible. like high school cafeteria food. my mother also agree's with this, although she says it's no big deal and she could get used to it. P.S. If i was staying there and had to eat there food, i would probably starve myself just to avoid it.

When I visited the facility, I thought it was nice. I was able to interact with a few staff members and some residents there too and they were all seemed nice. I like the cleanliness of the place- it smelled and looked clean. During our visit my mom participated with one of their activities with the rest of the residents. Their rooms were very home looking like, very comfortable and spacious. One down side though and the reason why we did not decide to go there is that it's very expensive. It's just way more expensive than we could afford.

Friend or relative of resident

My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and my family was unable to take care of her full-time. We spent quite a bit of time visiting assisted living homes and decided Clare Bridge was a good choice. This place specializes in dementia and Alzheimer's patients and the staff was knowledgeable about the challenges my grandmother would face. We visited her frequently and the staff always seemed courteous. I liked that the people staying at this facility were, for the most part, not allowed to just sit around and become vegetables. They were given daily regimens of mental activities to help them stay stimulated.
