I toured Elderwood Village at Vestal for my sister-in-law. The people were very informative as to what they do and what they don't do. The facility itself is lovely. My sister's father-in-law was there, and she raved about the place. He was in assisted living for a while. It was just a very good tour. The only thing that they don't do is they do not do bathroom things, but other than that, they would help my sister-in-law dress. They have a beauty shop, a common room, an exercise room, and things for the clients to do. Some activities are there for them to do. My sister was very pleased with the help and care her father-in-law got. The staff who gave the tour was very friendly and very informative, and they bent over backwards to make you feel welcomed and to give you as much information as you wanted. It's a lovely facility.

My mother has moved into Elderwood Village at Vestal. So far, so good. They seem friendly and caring, so far for the first week. The room is nice. However, they don't clean the bathroom like they should, and the shower is dirty. The bathrooms are not kept up. I ate there the first day we moved my mother in, and the food was good. I've been there a couple of times for lunch with my mother, and the food looked good. It's better than hospital food. They play bingo. My mother is doing crafts, and she seems happy. The facility looks clean. The maintenance guys do a decent job, but housekeeping is a one. They are updating the facility and putting in new flooring. Half of the floor is done already. They are putting down the rest of the new floor, and it looks beautiful.

I went to Elderwood Village at Vestal. I thought the common spaces were very comfortable. It had a stimulating environment for my aunt, which was important to me. I thought the staff was friendly and interested. I thought that the rooms were decent, plain, but decent. It was fine. The common areas were what I was most interested in, so I could see what it would be like for her to join people in the common areas.

I was impressed with Elderwood Village at Vestal. They were very welcoming. The person that showed me around was the nurse in charge and she was wonderful. The staff interacted with the residents and asked me a lot of questions to try to help me understand the difference. The nurse was good at educating me. Her own mother was there actually and I met her mother, too. So, it was a great day for me. I left knowing I had options. The place was very clean. Overall, I think it's an older facility, but they were modernizing it. They were redoing the floors to the plankings, and they explained that. Everything was beautiful. You could tell the rooms I went into were recently updated. They gave me warm cookies as I left and they were delicious.

My mother had some health issues in 2021 and was no longer able to live at home. We checked out a few assisted living centers and thought that Elderwood at Vestal would be a good fit. As a matter of fact it has been even better that I had imagined. The staff is very thoughtful and caring, and has helped my mom through a few difficult transitions, including one (temporary) hospital stay. My mom likes that it's pet friendly (she has a cat!), and I really do sleep soundly at night knowing she has such excellent care. I cannot endorse Elderwood at Vestal enough.

I hope my review will help others, when deciding on moving a parent to a caring and safe environment. My mother moved to Elderwood Village Vestal, almost 5 years ago (it was then called Brookdale Vestal East). This remarkable staff, from the Director to each team member, provide sincere concern and loving care to my mom each day. They all know her and make her feel like family, in a pleasant environment. And they are the very same staff members, that met us at the door, on that difficult first day! She tells me often that everyone is so kind to her. The staff was even more amazing during the covid pandemic, providing extra in- room visits and video visits with us.. How can we thank them all enough, for our peace of mind, with her care.

I am so happy we were able to find a safe place for mom. She is not as lonely as she was at home. I feel she is well cared for. There are always activities to participate in. It is important to keep her busy.

The move from home to assisted living was not an easy move for Dad. He had reached the point where living alone wasn’t in his best interest. The staff at Elderwood made the transition so much easier for all of us. It was such a relief to know that he can still maintain his independence and get the care he needs. The staff is caring and attentive and always treat him with respect. If we ever have questions or concerns they are available and great to work with. The special events they put on for residents and their families are always a great time. As cliche’ as it sounds they have truly become family.

My father has been a resident of Elderwood Vestal ( formerly Brookdale East ) for over 7 years. I can't say enough good things about the staff and facility in general. For starters, many of the same staff that were there 7 years ago, are still there today including Director Colleen H. That speaks volumes about what a good facility it is. I worked in health care for over 30 years and have seen first hand the high rate of staff turnover. So it is reassuring to my family that our father's care is consistent. The staff have become like family to my Dad and our very large family. My Dad's room is bright and nicely decorated. The staff encourages residents to bring in personal belongings to make them feel more " homey ". The facility is clean, bright, and welcoming. The nursing care is also excellent. The food is good. Plus there are many activities to choose from daily. My Dad particularly likes the bus trips to Tioga Downs. Elderwood Vestal is definitely worth checking out if you are considering assisted living care for yourself or a relative!

Excellent assisted living with a caring staff, a clean and comfortable facility, above-average food, varied activities, frequent parties and entertainment Very pleased that my mother elected on her own to live at Elderwood after spending a month there for rehabilitation. No coercing necessary. She loves it there!

I visited Brookdale Vestal East because it is close to my home. The staff was friendly and helpful. It looked like they had a lot of activities. The rooms were OK. The facility looked more homey than an institute-type setting. The halls were wide, and there were nice pictures and things like that.

Everything at Brookdale Vestal East looked beautiful. I think it was very clean, and people were very caring; it looked like a very nice place. The rooms were a good size, bigger than some other places I visited. It looked like there were a lot of things going on. The dining area was very nice, clean, and large.

They don't really put everything upfront the way I think they should have. My mother-in-law had issues there. It is a beautiful place, but I just don’t think the care is what we thought they were going to give her. They also offer another part of their program, and it is an issue we are trying to get resolved. So the rent wouldn't go up, they offer for you -- if you would like -- to lock-in a certain amount of money, so that if the rent goes up then they have a cushion. They can go into that money and pay the higher rent for the resident, but what they do is take it and then tell you it is non-refundable. She was only there a month a half, got hurt, fell seven times, and because of her care and everything, they don't want her back. They didn't want her to come back, but so far they are keeping her $3,000 for nothing. They said it was a contract where it is locked in. You can get it back if you are going to sign up for that. Well, we didn't know she was going to be there a month and a half. We thought she'd stay there for almost the rest of her life, and they were the ones who told us that they didn't want her to come back, so we feel that that contract should be null and void. I haven’t heard back from them on that, but they did send us another bill for $700 for her furniture because the furniture was locked up in there while she was in rehab, so we ended up with the bill for $700 for keeping furniture there. I could say there are no good things about their facility in this aspect. Beautiful place with some very nice people, but there are some hidden things in there that you have to be real careful about. We thought she was going to be taken care of, get more help than they were giving her, and that is why she fell three times. She went there after a hospital stay, and they didn't get rehab as best as she should have. But they say, it was not up to them, it was up to the doctor. It is an outside rehab that comes in there and gives the people rehab, but she didn't get rehab for a week and a half; that is why she kept falling. I thought the rehab was really through them until they clarified to me that the rehab is an outside party. If I'd known it was an outside party, I would have been in there faster, and because I thought it would have to do with them, I asked them a couple of times when does rehab start? Well, we don't really know yet. In the meantime she wasn't getting rehab, so she wasn't strong and fell more. She fractured her hip and collar bone, and then they didn't want her to come back. So we have some issues to settle with them yet. The way I look at it, you got to be careful over there. It is beautiful, but I am not happy with the way they treated her. They should have realized that she was a risk and should have had somebody around her more than they did. She was left too much and not getting the help that she needed.

Woodland Manor seemed to be nice to me. Actually my wife was in a community about seven years ago, and I guess the room is about the same size. I would imagine the room was about the same as most places do. They were very nice. I told the woman that showed me around about the change in my circumstances as soon as I knew about it. Yet, she still contacts me from time to time on how I am doing and things. It really impressed me. One of the biggest reasons for the rating is because I own a cat. It was very important to me that they could accommodate pets, and they could. It was very important to me.

I went to Woodland Manor. It wasn't the one that I was looking for, but I think that it would be a good option for someone who was looking for a single room for one person. I was looking for something for my parents as a couple, and they didn't offer that. As for the staff, I only talked with one woman, and she was very good and very helpful. I did like this place. I thought the facility was very clean, bright, and nice. If I was looking for a place for just one of my parents, it would definitely be one of the options. With regards to activities, they had the typical things that most places have -- e.g., they have trips, and they have gardening.

Emeritus at Woodland Manor was a very nice facility. It was actually like a very nice motel. Regarding rooms, they just had bedrooms and the community center. The staff seemed very pleasant. With regards to activities, they had a card table setup, TVs, and a reading room.

My father is in Emeritus. There wasn’t any waiting period here. It’s a new facility. It’s about 3 years old, and the people’s initial approach was very nice. The staff seems to be very professional. Now that he’s been there about a month, we see little things of some confusion with getting all his clothing back, but other than that, it’s pretty nice. He complains that a lot of times the food is cold, but he is complaining about everything. They don’t use any salt in any of their food, but it looks good. I think it’s very clean. They’re very nice rooms. It’s shared with a wall in between and a shared bathroom. He’s in the dementia ward, so it’s extra money for that. They have sing-alongs and movies. They go on bus trips sometimes. They had a Halloween party.

We really liked the people at Emeritus and the fact that the facility was all one floor. The residents seemed happy when we visited. The biggest meal is at lunch time and everything that I've seen on the menu has been very healthy. The staff seemed very good -- they seemed very friendly and willing to help. The room is fine; my mom is in a double room and her roommate is very friendly and helpful. They have different kinds of crafts. They played cards and they go on field trips.

Emeritus at Woodland Manor was fantastic. I would love to have my father in there, but with the finances, we just couldn't work it out. Nevertheless, they were very helpful and knowledgeable about the care that I needed. The room was spacious; it was quite bigger than I thought it would be. It had a private bath. I had lunch at Emeritus and it was very good. It was wonderful. The dining area was like a restaurant. There were a lot of activities. They actually had an activities director that my father could meet with; they could tell him about the acitivies and find some that he would like. Regarding location, everything was pretty much right there. They had transportation onsite so if you needed to go somewhere, they had a mini van that would take you.

Everything in Emeritus is nice, including the scenery, the people, and the food . The staff is very good. The one-bedroom apartment I saw was roomier and very nice. The dining room was nice, and the food as well. They had diverse activities. The residents looked healthy, active, and very good. I liked the people there.

Everybody seems so friendly at Emeritus. My daughter and I had lunch there and the food was fantastic. They had chicken and biscuits and it was out of this world. I can’t remember what the dessert was but I know that there was maybe a pie but obviously the chicken and biscuits made a bigger impression than the dessert. The dining room was a nice-sized room. There were just three of us sitting at the table and most of the tables were four people which is nice. It appeared that you sat where you want to instead of this is where you sit and you sit and you sit. The staff seems to be extremely considerate. There wasn’t a bad review amongst them.

In terms of staffing and the facility itself, Emeritus at Woodland Manor is similar to its sister facility where my mom is in right now. At that time when we were looking for a place for my mother, we visited this place and we liked what we saw so we decided to place her there. I ate there and I thought the food was very good. In terms of caring, with my mom's condition, they were able to meet her needs. The people there were very friendly and very caring. They answered my questions whenever I was there. If there was a problem, they would call right away and made us aware of it. We have nothing but good experience while my mother was there. I absolutely recommend this place.

The facility was clean and up to date. The family friend we cam to visit appeared to enjoy her stay at the facility. She commented on the quality and timeliness of services, as well as accessibility of staff. She also enjoyed the food and recreation opportunities for residents. Her son, our family friend, was also pleased that the visiting hours and location were accessible based upon his employment schedule and location. The nature ion the area seems like an excellent befit to residents. The facility appeared to be adequately staffed and was very clean and organized. There were many other visitors when we were there, and they all had similar positive reports about the facility. If I were in need of placing a family member in an assisted living facility, I would recommend this agency without hesitation. I would close by adding the road is on top of a steep hill, which may be problematic for visitations during the winter months or during snowy or icy conditions.

My grandmom is currently a resident at the Emeritus at Woodland Manor. I recently went to visit her. When I first arrived, I was greeted by a few staff members asking if they could be of help and if I needed directions. once I reached my grandmoms room, I was very pleased by the cleanliness and up-to-date facilities in her room. My grandmom proceeded to compliment on how great the food is there and how nice the staff is to her. Her days are always filled with fun activities. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the nursing staff that helped to take care of the grandmother..I monitored while they gave her a bath and administered medications. I could not think of a better place for my grandmother to be. I would recommend the Emeritus at Woodland Manor to anyone looking for a great place for their loved ones.
