I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Masonic Care Community of New York is very good. The facility is nice and the staff is very nice. They seem to be very interested and my wife seems happy down there and I'm satisfied. Her room is nice. She has dementia so most of the time, they're in a common area where they eat and there's TV out there. Most of them go out of the room and spend time with the people. Cleanliness is very good, too. My wife has gained weight there so she's satisfied with the food and it is prepared right there. Each unit has its own kitchen. They bring in some food and put it in the freezer and then warm it up, but they mainly have someone cooking and preparing it right there and there seems to be a good variety. They certainly give them enough and one nice thing about them is if residents don't seem to eat the food, someone comes over and feeds them. They take the fork or spoon and put the food in their mouth. They don't force them, but they just help them eat and they are very good about that. I don't see many activities. I think part of it is the condition of the residents. They can't do it. There are about 15 residents in the unit and my wife is one of the better ones. Some of them can't talk or anything. I think their prices are about the same as the others. They're all too high.

I visited this facility

My mom has been at Masonic for 4 years and counting. She is happy with the care she gets. As 1 of her children we feel that our mom is safe, happy and well taken care of. Guilt is a factor for all of us but we are comfortable that mom is well taken care, gets her medicine and the staff is very caring to her and all of the residents

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My aunt is in the assisted living at Masonic Care Community of New York. She loves it there. They take them by bus, like to the mall. This coming week, she said they're going to go up to the Masonic Home Summer Camp for the day and will have boxed lunches. They have entertainment come in. They have different acts come in. She's in Wiley Hall. The staff seemed cooperative and very professional. She wanted me to go sit and eat with her in the cafeteria, but they wouldn't allow it because it is just for their residents. They have different activities. They do puzzles. They do bowling, and they have computers. Cable and telephone are included and $400 worth of food a month. She says the meals are good, and she's enjoying them.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We're moving my husband into Masonic Care today. We chose it because it has a great reputation, and it has a wonderful battery of doctors that take care of the patients. I went there a couple of years ago to visit some people. I have not been there recently, but I know what it looks like. The staff was great. I have not tasted the food, but I know my friends all liked it, so I have to believe it was good. The facility was beautiful, large, and wide open. I would recommend it because of the doctors and the care that you would get there.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Mom was in for a few months after a hip fracture. The grounds and building was beautiful. PT & OT great. Most of the staff very caring. Only issue was when she was not in PT or OT Mom just sat in her room.
