The rehab mom stayed at was the Jennie B Richmond. They were very attentive, and they got her up and moving with physical therapy. They pushed and helped to get her into the assisted living, which we had struggled with before. Just all around, all the folks were nice and communicative. I had a great experience with them. They all worked with her, and they all loved her. She was completely happy with the food. They had some activities, but not a huge amount. They had bingo and arts and crafts. She got to go to that once or twice a week. You can't expect so much from a place like that though. I didn't hear any complaints from her.

The staff for the most part were friendly and knowledgable.. the smell sometimes in the place was far from nice.. It seems sometimes the staff were overwhelmed and not able to meed the needs of all residents.. The amenities were far and in between.. As time went on things the residents could do shrunk.. They used to do activities and they went away when the management changed.. It seemed the resident care was second and making the most money was first..

When I first walked in to visit my Aunt Phyllis, I was nervous. Nursing homes are not the first place I want to be. I received a phone call earlier that day that my aunt's crohn's disease had gotten a lot worse suddenly and she was on her death bed, so my family and I went to visit her. I was greeted with a smile and asked if I needed help finding the room I was looking for. The lady at the front desk took me right to my aunts room at the end of the hall in the East Wing. The lobby was decorated with pumpkins(since it was the beginning of November) and recent pictures of residents petting animals. When I got in there I noticed I didn't smell anything. I used to work at a different nursing home and that one smelled bad the second I went into work everyday. My aunt had perfume, stuffed animals, and a homemade pirate ship by her bed. I asked where she had gotten them, and my uncle replied "She won them at Bingo". It was nice to know that she didn't just lay there all day watching tv and that she had fun there. The nurse came to check on her every two hours and was really nice. Even the staff person that did her hair and the person who did her nails came to see her and hugged her showing that they actually cared and didn't just want a paycheck. Because of the condition my aunt was in, the staff allowed my family members to visit after visiting hours as long as we were quiet, as not to disturb everyone else. My aunt ended up passing away there roughly two days later because of her condition and with there being nothing anyone could do. This was probably one of the hardest times in my life, but the doctors, and staff at Jennie B. Richmond did everything they could do. I would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone because the staff here really cared about the residents.
