My mom is staying at Sunrise of Smithtown. The place is great and immaculate. It's really like living in a hotel and she gets great care. It's just a little pricey. The food is excellent and they have activities all day like Bingo, movies, games and arts and crafts. They have a ton of things for them to do. My mom is actually in a suite where there are two people who share a bathroom, but they each have their own private bedroom. There's also a little kitchenette area with a sink, refrigerator, and cabinets. It's very nice. The staff is excellent, and they're very good with my mom.

I've toured Sunrise of Smithtown, and their rooms were on the small side. They had a nice dining room, reminiscent of a hotel restaurant. The staff was very good, very thoughtful, and considerate. I think it's adequate, but everything seems sorta small and confined. Unlike other places I've been to that are airier, this place is not that in terms of spaciousness.

We toured Sunrise of Smithtown, we liked it very much, and we're going back next Wednesday. It just seems very nice, almost like home, it's as close as you can get to it. We were very pleased with it. We saw the lady that was touring us, she was very nice too, and the manager, but I don't remember her name. She was also very nice. The room was very nice, spacious, and very modern. It had a small kitchenette area. It was very nice, more than I expected. It has its own bath. The dining area was beautiful. Everything was perfectly clean to me. It's nearby.

I thought Sunrise of Smithtown had a very homey feeling. It was very attractive. It almost felt like a boutique hotel. The staff were very pleasant. The person we met with, Susan, was extremely helpful and very down to earth. The executive director, Jody, came in and introduced herself and was very pleasant and down to earth, too. We liked the rooms that we saw. We were actually pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, and we liked it. We liked the fact that it was in the community. They have arts and crafts stuff. They have some music, and they have a cafe. They have three meals a day, and you can get something from the cafe as well.

I went to Sunrise of Smithtown in person. They were wonderful. It was beautiful. The food looked good, but I didn't get a chance to taste anything there. The staff was very helpful, very nice, and caring. Everything looked lovely.

understaffed and overpriced. This is truly a business and not a caring facility. The workers are nice, but the administrative staff needs to be replaced, cold would be an understatement.

Sunrise of Smithtown had more of a clinical feel or a nursing home feel to it than the others. I was not as pleased with the service that I received from the person that was there. The girl who took me around was not nearly as knowledgeable about the facility, and there were things she was unsure of that she had to find about. I was not as impressed. It was a little bit older facility. It could work for somebody, but not for our needs. My in-laws are still young, social and vibrant, while everybody there was kind of slowing down and just sitting there.

Sunrise of Smithtown was very depressing. I'm 74 and my wife is 71, and I'm not in great shape. I was looking at it and said this is a nursing home. There were people in wheelchairs. I thought it was something different, but I got the wrong vibe. It wasn't for me. The apartment had two rooms that were very small and had a microwave and bathroom. I'm coming from my house with four bedrooms, half acre of land and a pool, so it was very depressing. The facility was very nice, clean, and beautiful, and the people were very considerate, very nice, and showed us around, but it wasn't for me.

Sunrise of Smithtown certainly was beautiful when I walked in. They showed me a beautiful dining area with tablecloths and napkins for the regular residents, but for the people who were in the memory unit, I didn’t care for the way their dining area was. It seemed very small and very close together, and I didn’t like it as much. I was only there that one time, and it looked very clean to me. It certainly didn’t have an odor or anything, and I was shown the room that would have been available for my husband. It was for 2 people -- like a suite -- and would have been OK because they each have their own separate room and bathroom. I was there briefly, and I remember talking to a very nice young man who was the sales manager, but I didn’t get the same feeling going through their memory section.

We found that Sunrise provides; if somebody has to be in a wheelchair, they will accommodate that. It has a homey atmosphere, and they have 60 to 70 rooms; there were studio room or two rooms and each have a bedroom and a living room. The staff has been very accommodating and very helpful. They have bingo, sing-alongs, they have somebody that comes in and plays the piano, and they have celebrations for the various holidays.

I loved Sunrise. It was clean, bright, and airy. The residents looked happy. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were quite spacious with an area where the bed was, a dresser, chair, and a little kitchenette. It was quite nice. I didn’t taste the food, but they have a restaurant type of food. The have so many activities. They have a chapel upstairs, a beauty parlor, and a lot of stuff going on.

Sunrise at Smithtown was my grandmother's home for the last two years of her life. Visiting her was often a stressful time. The smell of the facility was not pleasant. The staff did seem to try to engage the residents but I also saw men and women in wheelchairs lining the hallways for hours at a time. The staff would greet my family and I when we would visit. The staff would try to engage my grandmother in conversation but it was often futile. She was always clean. They took care to ensure that she did not get bed sores, which was a concern. Overall my family was very happy with this facility. We have recommended it to other family members and friends. They took care to ensure that my grandmother was always safe. I did see a resident try to walk out of the door on their own a few times and they were always stopped. This made us feel like we entrusted the right facility with my grandmother's well-being. When she died, the nurses were very caring and talked kindly about my grandmother. They thought it was wonderful that she died without a wrinkle on her face. She did, indeed.
