I think this is a good facility, I have moved my mother from numerous other homes looking for better after being discontented and unhappy with other homes. Every issue l have brought up has been addressed. Staffing is comparable to other facilities and I have seen what other facilities are like. The people care about the residents. The facility is big and bright, the rooms are nice. Activities are good. Overall all a good facility, anyone complaining should go try out some others.

This facility is consistently understaffed. My mother was disabled and was a resident here for several years before she died...she developed horrible, tunneling bed sores during and after Covid, due to severe neglect from staff not turning her and not doing regular skin checks. She also developed wounds in her legs from the neglect. She was often left with no call bell and her tray table and drinks out of her reach. She had no way to call for help if she needed it. The administration was extremely difficult to communicate with and were often hostile if we try to discuss the subpar care with them. I do not recommend putting anyone you care about into this facility.

My father recently became a resident of the Glendale Nursing home and the staff have all been very kind and attentive. I can not say enough about the care my dad has been receiving. The rooms are updated, large and really nice. He even likes the food! He receives PT daily and they are very patient with him. Choosing a long term care facility for a loved one is so difficult. Knowing that my dad is being cared for in a safe environment with nice care givers definitely helps lessen the stress on the family. THANK YOU to all the staff. We are so grateful to have found you.

A relative of mine is in Glendale Home in Scotia. It's a beautiful facility. I think they do very good work. They haven't had one case of COVID, so all their interventions are perfect for keeping those people safe. My relative enjoys it there. He likes being around people. He doesn't like to wait, though, but who does? When you're one of, probably 20 people on the caseload, trying to get a shower and get dressed, you have to wait. Fortunately, he is very sharp mentally, just his body doesn't work. He has no complaints about the staff at all. No complaints about the room either. They haven't let us in since COVID started but we talk to him on the phone. Just like all nursing homes, they have regular meetings with the providers and with the family members. They also call us when there is an incident. I don't have complaints about it. I know it's never going to be a perfect system since there are too many people, but for this particular one, it's good. It's brand new since they rebuilt it and it's beautiful.

This disgusting facility is rampant with COVID due to lack of proper safety procedures. They allowed a dental hygienist, positive with coronavirus, to attend to patients, infecting a whole section of the home. If this happened, what else can happen and what other safety and cleanliness procedures aren't being followed? Disgraceful to NYS and hopefully will be brought to court for their carelessness.

I came to visit my uncle who is a resident at this facility and was surprised to find no security at the entrance ... Signage was poor... i had no idea where i was going. The place is kept, very, very clean but ventilation could be better... when i left my uncles room i felt like i ingested some chemicals ... the kind of sensation you get after cleaning an oven. The entire time i was there he had the covers over his head, maybe because of stuffy chemical scent. PLEASE HIRE MORE STAFF!!

My mother is in Schenectady County Glendale Home. I think it is a safe and good place. However, there is not enough staffing to give each client the personal care that they need. Right now, they are taking care of their meds administering and bathe them every day or twice a week. They need more staff to help for feeding and to give more personal care. However, other than that, it is fine. The rooms are updated, very new, and very nice. The staff in the kitchen is very nice, and I think the food is fine. I think they can improve on their activities. They have bingo, masses, and visiting entertainers, but I think they need more activities.

I am a relative of a former resident, which is why I selected the experience as a visitor. Overall, I'd say this is an avergae facility. Considering that this is a county funded home, I am not suprised to have found the overall experience average. I believe the one thing I noticed the most is that there does not seem to be a ton of staff on at any given shift to attend to the residents. In many cases, they are either wheeled out to a hallway or a community room and left to their own accord. Not having much previous experience with any sort of facility like this before, perhaps I had unrealistically high expectations. I personally found that the adminisrators we met with regarding some issues with the relative's care were largely unhelpful. The food that I sampled was adequate but by no means exciting. Activites were planned daily and it was up to the interest of the individual patient if he or shw wished to participate in them. They didn't seem to always be timely on the medication schedule either. Again, you get what you pay for. If this was a private home I would have expected and should have received better overall care. But for some who do not have the resources at their disposal for private care, this is an adequate facility if you have few other options. I would not make this a first choice if you have the means to make use of a private facility.

The facility was dirty, smelled bad. People in their rooms yelling for nurses, or just anyone to come in their room. The staff seemed unsure of how to care for some of these people. I was an EMT going to the nursing home and was astounded at how easy the fix was for the person who we came for.
