Nursing staff was professional and timely with providing care to my mom. The food was pretty good for the most part. The dietician was helpful in picking out alternate food options for the fish she didn’t like. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Every room came with their own TV. Closets could be bigger, but everything fit and the nursing home was willing to provide laundry service. There were activities everyday and the activity staff were extremely friendly and energetic. Bingo seems like the hot ticket as everyone seemed to show up for that.

This place was a horrific place for my father. If you can go ANYWHERE else, go. The nurses never were up to date on meds or ANYTHING pertaining to my father’s care. I tried staying with him ALL day because no one changed him consistently or brought meds. I never felt SAFE with my dad’s care. Do not go here

If you care and love your loved ones, please please please do not take them to this place. This was an awful experience, nursing staff did not have a clue of what was going on and even argued amoungst each other at times. The place was completely outdated and filthy and looked like a dungeon. People were placed in the hallways all times of the day and night. I went in one night about 9:30 pm my loved one was sitting in the hallway slumped over in the wheelchair clothes still covered with dinner food while 2 aids sat there on their phones. Several times medication was given at the wrong times, even the wrong medication was given at the wrong times and sometimes no medication was given at all. This place should be shut down. Very mismanaged and people in charge (directors and nurses) lied and changed their stories. Do NOT put your loved one there!!!

My relative spent roughly two weeks at the Hurlbut while recovering from hip replacement surgery. PROS (from least to most significant): *CLEAN facility (virtually no odor!) *Pleasant rooms; lots of light, not at all gloomy or depressing *Caring CNA's & nurses (overall, they were exceptional) *EXCELLENT rehab staff and facilities CONS (from least to most significant): *No menus for special dietary needs (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.); they did try to make accommodations, but in this era, with more and more people following a plant-based diet, this should be an option *Poor communication with family members regarding medications administered (changes made in medication without any notification whatsoever, and staff appeared evasive or even annoyed or hostile when asked. At one time they were administering a double dose of my relative's allergy meds on a daily basis, when the order was for half the dose on an as-needed basis; dizziness was the result, and while that might not be a problem for the normal person, someone recovering from joint replacement does not need to be any less stable when walking!) *Poor record keeping in evidence (my relative had been at the Hurlbut for two days, and guests coming in were told no one was in that room; even worse, the night nurse gave my relative someone else's medications one night. I was there and caught the error; I was shown the log of the person supposedly in my relative's bed--this person was moved to a different wing at least a week before, and yet they still had the person assigned to my relative's bed. Had I not been there, my relative would have received a cocktail of meds that belonged to someone else!)

My mom is in The Hurlbut. The building is fine, but my mom finds it to be too big, too busy, and loud. She has very much enjoyed the physical therapy and the occupation therapy. The therapists have been great, but the support staff is not as good. The dining area is OK but the food is bad. My mom hates the food. I think they need to vary their menu and have more options. I also think the support staff needs better supervision and training. They have some activities that my mom has enjoyed like arts and crafts.

I visited the The Hurlbut. It did not seem quite as clean. It just kind of felt old and run down. The residents there all seemed to be active. When I had a tour, they were having a church service, and the residents who were involved in the church were all quite engaged and active.

My mother was at Hurlbut Nursing and Rehab after she had her stroke. The food was really terrible, so she did not like it there. The people that worked there were wonderful, but the only thing she could really do was eat.
