My mom is in Palatine Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She's got really bad dementia. So they take care of everything and she's unable to take care of herself. Every time I go in there, they're all just sitting there doing nothing. There should be some kind of activity or something to entertain them enough that they're engaged. They played bingo or cards and since I've been going, I've engaged probably 8 to 10 more people than they used to. I'm just volunteering but I just go in there on a Saturday and grab up as many people as possible, and we go, whether we play cards or bingo. I even got amusing Nerf guns to shoot at targets. They bounce balls on the table and put them in cups. They like that stuff because they're not just sitting there doing nothing. Her room is like a hospital room. There's no privacy. Everybody's in and out of her room all day.

We've been visiting an aunt for over a year now. The place always looks clean and does not smell, which is better than some places! The staff have always been pleasant and helpful and the general atmosphere cheerful.

Was the worst nursing home I have ever been in. The rooms are a mess. Walls covered in scuffs, holes, and floors are stained. The chair my dad was given was broken. The nurses are miserable, but there were a couple good aides. Therapy room was small, and the therapist he had hardly spoke english. My dad went to the hospital and I refused to let him go back. Just a dump.
