My mother-in-law lives in Woodland Pond at New Paltz. She started in independent, and then she went through assisted, and she's been in skilled nursing and she's now in memory care. So I've seen the whole thing and she's been there for twelve years. The facilities are well maintained. They have good-sized rooms, they've got really good staff, they have lots of activities, and their food is good. It's a good value for money. I don't know what they charge today, but my mother-in-law got in there 12 years ago, paid a long-term care fee up front, and all her costs stayed the same, no matter what level of care she was in. So, they had a good program. The hardest thing is you can only get in there as independent living first. You cannot go straight into assisted living or memory care. In memory care, they have a beautiful garden and they have activities that are appropriate for memory care such as music and different things like that. In independent living, they have trips and the residents run the community activities. The food is high quality. They have a beautiful pool, a salon, outdoor gardening, and all sorts of things like that. They've got a coffee cafe, a post office, and a drug store in-house. It's like a community.

I was a patient at Woodland Pond at New Paltz at one time, and I have a lot of friends there, so I go there quite often. I know a lot about that particular facility, and I'm particularly interested in that one. In terms of the rehabilitation and the physical therapy, it was excellent. The room that I was in was very clean. They happened to be putting some new flooring in that particular part of the building at the time. I was checking on how they were putting in the flooring and things like that. I'm a very curious person and I like people, so I was busy meeting other people, seeing what they were doing, and how they were doing and stuff like that. I'm always interested in how things are going. I would have to say at that time they had a plumbing problem, but they fixed it very quickly. It had something to do with the temperatures. The staff was doing their job and maybe doing even better than their job. The first or second morning I was there, I met the woman who was in charge of nursing for the rehab skilled nursing facility. She popped right into my room and helped me. That was a fantastic opportunity, and there was somebody right there. I got to know all the cooking staff immediately. I was very curious at that time, and we had a big fight about whether I could have desserts or not because I have diabetes. I finally went out because all my numbers were good, they were busy measuring the blood glucose three times a day and everything was fine. So, at that point, I guess they denied me dessert. But the food was very good. I iked the food. Although I didn't eat in the dining room, I ate in my room or a separate lounge room with other patients. It's very clean. They have a library, a swimming pool, and an exercise room. They have a tavern, maybe they call it the pub, where you can have late breakfast and visit with friends. They have a lot of activities, both on the main floor where the apartments are, where they enter the building, and in the other end of the building, where the more serious medical conditions are. There's a room upstairs where they have a lot of activities also. So, they have a lot of things happening, as well as excellent, facility-type things happening, and it's clean. It's costly; it's very expensive to go there and stay there. I have to say it's not economical at all. You have to buy into the place for $300,000 to $400,000. Then you have a monthly charge of, maybe one or two thousand, something in that range. I don't know those costs specifically, I know from my friend who lives there what she pays. I have time to try to figure it out. I would have to sell my house to be able to go there, but I'm not sure if I would have enough monthly income to stay there. Those are things I have to figure out. Plus, I own a lot of original artwork. I see they have a lot of artwork on their walls. I don't know where that artwork on the walls came from if it was owned by individual people who have moved there, and they would take that original artwork as a down payment or not. I don't know how they work. That's another thing I need to point out and haven't had the time to go over and visit. I think you get your money's worth, but you pay a lot to get your money's worth. So, it's hard to say it's not a bargain, and you can't say it's inexpensive.

I know Woodland Pond at New Paltz pretty well. My mother was in their rehab center several times, and she died a couple of years ago. My uncle was there too for rehab last autumn of 2020. The rehab center was excellent. They've always been very good. They do their best to understand, to know their patients, to go beyond, and things like that. They're updated and professional. The rooms were definitely very clean and on the large side. They have independent living. They have assisted living. It's very hard to get in there because they're in the way they're structured. The people who go into that have arranged in advance that if they get sick or debilitated, they can move into their assisted living. Their assisted living section has a lot less rooms than their independent living. It's very hard to get into assisted living from the outside. I think they have a waiting list of at least six months. It's a beautiful place. They definitely have all the amenities that could be had. They have a swimming pool. There is a big room where there's all kinds of arts that people do. They watch movies there. You have a lot of activities, and they're active. They're a little bit separate from the rehab center, but that depends on how capable you are to move around and whether it's COVID or not. The gym that they have for the rehab is very up to date. They'll give you a lot of rehab, probably more than other places.

Woodland Pond at New Paltz is a very nice place. It's just that it didn't have as many cultural activities in the area. That's the only complaint about that. We went there. We had lunch there, and we had a tour. It's quite nice, except that it didn't have what we were looking for completely. We only saw a couple of apartments, and they weren't as large as what we were looking for. The food was quite good. We had a nice impression of the staff.

We toured Woodland Pond for my dad. It's very clean, very friendly, and has a lot of amenities on site like physical therapy. The people are friendly, and the rooms are clean. We were not able to to look at a 1-bedroom, but we were able to look at a studio (which was still spacious). It was very nice there. They were still on the whole COVID thing, so, they're not doing dining room; they're doing tray service. They won't be opening up their dining room until, I believe she said, the end of this month. The staff was excellent. She answered all the questions and had all the answers. The place was very clean, and the landscape was done very well.

We are in the process of moving my father into Woodland Pond. It is a continuing care facility, so that's the number-one reason for us. They have independent living, assisted living, memory care, and then skilled nursing. He is going into either assisted living or memory care, but if and when he needs skilled nursing, he doesn't have to move into another facility. It's beautiful. The staff has been wonderful to work with. They're very accommodating, especially during this pandemic. They offer studio apartments and one-bedroom apartments, so there is no sharing of a bathroom between any of the residents. They all have their own space, as well as walk-in closets, a refrigerator, and a microwave. My father is moving into a studio apartment because they don't have any one-bedrooms currently. Currently, because of the pandemic, residents are eating in their room, but they will go back to eating in the dining room with white table linens. Their dining room is restaurant style. They have a movie room, and they have a community room where they have music and bingo. I've seen probably six facilities in total, and this was the best one that I saw.

My mother is a current resident of the skilled nursing facility. The staff truly care about the patients and go out of their way to ensure their resident's needs are met. I am a nurse and am very please with the care my mother receives. I am so glad we chose Woodland Pond for mom.

Woodland Pond at New Paltz is a very beautiful facility. You buy in and some of that money would go to the estate. It would be a promising place. It's a brand-new facility and very near where we live. It seemed that it would have everything, and it's a very modern facility. They have bus service to bring them to church service on Sunday. We had lunch there, and it's almost gourmet.

I have my mom in assisted living for 6 months now. The assisted living side has awful food and mom is loosing weight. I stopped tonight and saw the residents with a cold meal. Mom's entree was a microwave grilled cheese sandwich. This place boasts a Cullinary chef but the better food is on the other side where people are independent. You have to advocate for your parent on the Assisted living side. They are short staffed. I also overhear workers speaking badly about the residents there while I'm walking down the hall. Those older folks are lonely. It takes a long time to find help for anything. Short staffed. The place is $6,000 a month! Not very assisted.

I am not sure what has happened at this place in the last 2 years but the food used to raved about, the activities plentiful and entertaining, and the staff's responsiveness attentive. The other day I called to request some assistance for my relative and was told by the receptionist it would be taken care of...come to find out they never responded or did what I reqested. Also my relative's clothes get routinely lost or ruined in the laundry. My relative complains about the food and says the non assisted living side is treated to better meals and food options. I have begun sending food to supplement what is being offered. The rent increases regularly but the services appear to be on the decline. I long for a good report from my relative but to date every time we talk there is a new issue.

I am a family member of a resident and visit this facility almost weekly. There seems to be a disconnect between the representations of what is offered and what is the actual being provided. . The staff is very attentive and friendly but there does not seem to be a management presence within the facility. I listen to the comments of other residents and they all seem to feel that the maintenance department is very slow in response to requests and the recent food offerings are less and not of the quality that was presented in the original visit, as well as to have received a monthly charge increase in 2017.

I have found the administrative people at Woodland pond to be rude and evasive when I try contacting them to get a hold of my 97 year old mother. They avoid responding to my e mails, my postal service mail and phone calls. They simply do not respond to me. I have sent several documents to them several times which needed to be returned to me and they simply seem to have hit a dead end, with no explanation. Something very strange is going on and they so not facilitate communication with my mother.

Woodland Pond at New Paltz is a continuing care retirement community. It has independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. We have a pretty good chef right now, and I like the food. We also have a nice dining room. They have an art studio. They have activities like card games and several trips each month. The staff is very caring. It is like living in a very big family.

Woodland was a beautiful place. They had apartments and cottages. They were lovely. Apparently, it was adequate for everybody who lived there. The residents were charming people and they were friendly. The staff was excellent. All of them were very friendly and eager to give you information that was necessary to help you when you move. We had a meal there and the food was just lovely. The dining facility was beautiful. It was like going to a luxury hotel. They had basically the same type of activities and you could participate on what interests you. They had arts, music, movies, and lectures you could go. I would recommend them to others as they had the best features for everybody that was living there. However, you had to put money down and we do not want to put down a large amount of money.

Where my dad was, was Woodland Pond skilled nursing. They took really great care of him, and he was allowed to pass with grace and dignity. They were wonderful to him. The sanitation, the rooms, and the food were excellent. They have a large pool. Everybody came and talked to my dad on the first day or so. There were just all sorts of things that he could have been involved in. I would certainly recommend it. It's a lovely location, and the staff is just fabulous.

The experience we had when we toured at Woodland Pond was very positive. The staff was very friendly and very nice. The rooms were spacious. They have many activities and that was a very nice thing. They play cards, they have lots of walks and hiking, they have gardens if you want to work outside. They also have a bus that takes you to shopping and to the performing arts center. They have cocktail hours in the evening and they also have reading groups. We had lunch there and the food was acceptable.
