I can not say enough good things about the Pines in Machias. My father was a resident there for rehab many year ago. He was there before they built the new facility. His care was wonderful and we were very satisfied. My mother now has been a full time resident for over three years. The care she receives is second to none. They truly love their residents. Always concerned about their care. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone needing to have care for a family member.

I would highly recommend The Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation. I have known people that have been there, and I know people that have family members in there. They can't praise it enough. My overall impression when I visited it is there is no odor. The residents looked happy and well cared for, and the staff was all contented and looked happy. The rooms were very nice. It is spacious much more so than where he is right now. The contentment of both the residents and the staff stood out to me.

My grandmother has been a resident at the Pines at Machias for 2 years now and she loves it! I joke with her and tell her she lives at a country club! The facility is so clean and the architectural design is more like a home than a nursing facility. My grandmother's day is so busy because all the wonderful activities that are offered. The staff treat my grandmother so great. I am a nurse and have visited so many nursing home and The Pines is by farthest the best nursing home that I have encountered .

The staff at the Pines are nice and seem to be well trained. They have a courtyard where the people staying there can visit with family and friends. My wife's grandmother has been there for a year and is fairly well taken care of. The only problem was when she was tranfered from the regular nursing home section to the dementia ward. During the last couple visits they have left her there unattended and without anything to do. I had to explain the the attendants that they must check in on her because she has a tendency to wonder off.

As a nursing student a few years ago I did some of my clinical rotation at the Machias Pines in western NY & worked in the Alzheimers Unit. The residents there were treated with much care & dignaty. I also visited the Olean Pines, in western NY & attended a Alzheimers support meeting, the employees were so caring & offered very good information.
