My mother is in Willing Helpers' Home for Women, and it has been a good experience with them. I would say it's not your modern assisted living facility. It’s more of an adult home that reminds me of a bed and breakfast with a maximum of 20 residents and currently there are only 19 and it's a little different from what you're accustomed to finding in a normal assisted living. The staff is caring, professional, and dedicated to the work that they do. My mom's room is a bedroom for one individual, not an apartment. The bathroom facilities are shared. It comes with a closet and a window that overlooks the property, and it's comfortable and private. They went on a field trip last week to a farm, and they actually assisted in shearing sheep and other farm activities. They go on shopping trips to the local community and have in-house activities. They have an activity director that keeps things different every day.

From the time that you walk into the facility you feel like you are at home. The staff and the residents interact like family. Many staff treat the residents like their own family and that is what is great about the place. The residents are not forced to do things that they don't want. The building and grounds are beautiful and well kept. Residents love doing activities at the facility and it is not unusual to see staff and residents out in the community for lunch or shopping. Residents should have some awareness and physical abilities to live here. This is a quite active place. Holidays and birthdays are an extremely happy time. The place is decorated in lively colors and it is also on the Christmas parade route so that residents can sit in comfort and watch the parade. This place would be somewhere that I would want to go in my golden years if my spouse is not alive.
