I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has been a resident of Oak Hill in Ithaca, NY for a couple of years. Initially all was ok but shortly into the second-year things have gone downhill dramatically. The management does not effectively address the issues at hand regardless of how much the family complains. The food is usually cold before it gets to her room and simple condiments are not served so when they finally arrive it's too late. Most concerning is that Meals are almost always late. Most recent was dinner served after 7:15 PM. When complaining to the facility manager, there is no response and not much improvement in dinner times. Meals are scheduled to be served at 5:00PM but rarely there before 6:00. The staff are cordial and treat My mother with respect. The main issue is with the kitchen and lack of management thereof. My mother is 100 years old and if it were not such a hassle to move her, we definitely would do so.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is now living in Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home. It was the only place available for him to go at the time. I can only get there on the weekends, I have relatives that go see him during the week, and they say everything is fine. But every time I've gone there on the weekends, his face is dirty, his hands need cleaning, his room is pretty disheveled from changing the beds. He's just not presentable. He gets physical therapy, speech, and occupational therapy to try to maintain the skills he has. The staff depends on the shift. The meals look like they're healthy food, and it looks like it's homemade. It's not something they just pulled out of the freezer and heated up. From what I've seen, it looks very good quality. They have plenty of things going on, he doesn't always participate, but they've got a lot of things that they do with the patients. It's an old building and it looks old once you get inside. The windows were there and everything, it's nice, but nothing impressive.

My mother has been a resident at Oak Hill Manor for 2 years. This facility has had 4 different administrators come and go in 2 years. Very unstable workforce. The residents get minimal care.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was a resident here at Oak Hill manor, I had a full hip replacement with a major fall at home. The facility was very clean, food was fantastic. I personally met the chef, administrator, and director of nursing and they were all helpful and mindful of my care. I felt everyone there was extremely competent, knowledgeable, and informative. With the COVID19 measures, I felt very confident in their care and comfortable that I was safer inside than outside. The building is "old" or "tired" and is undergoing renovations and major upgrades which were stalled because of COVID19. The administrator was helpful and said "hi" to me everyday, always answered my questions and understood me. Nursing staff were great, fantastic, and well-staffed. I would highly recommend this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My 93 year old mother was discharged to Oak Hill for rehab after hospitalization in January . After several days at Oak Hill, she became severely dehydrated and that triggered a cascade of system failure that almost killed her and landed her in the ICU for a week. Oak Hill does not seem to have the staff to take care of people who have serious medical needs and require a lot of hands on care and assistance. The nursing staff seemed competent and attentive but overworked. The facility is old and run down but clean Its very crowded, with narrow corridors, small rooms , bathrooms shared between rooms and very little additional space. The food is institutional and far less appealing than I have ever seen in a school or college cafeteria, maybe adequate from a nutritional point of view if people actually eat it though it looked like most of it was getting thrown away. This report is based on an experience less than two months before the corona virus crisis struck. I am really worried about the residents and staff and wish them the best but I would not recommend this facility for anyone who needs more than routine nursing home care.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We end up putting my father in a nursing home called Oak Hill manor as he lost control of his legs. The majority of the staff is pretty responsive, and the facility is clean.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother stayed at Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home. I liked the atmosphere in the facility because it felt like home. The staff were determined to give the right care to the residents. I haven't tried the food but my mom liked it.
