My relative was there only 2 days when dr Mitchell claimed he should be in Hospice! Patient had dementia but could cut lawn, been on long vacation etc when he had mild heart attack . Wca suggested ninety day rehab because his heart output was low. Pt had him on walker but $$$$ was more important to nursing home because Hospice Pays hundreds of dollars per day in addition to patient also paying hundreds per day if not on Medicare. And yes, once you sign up for Hospice, you loose Medicare and you pay out of pocket! It's a win win fir heritage!

When mom broke her hip, they put her in the rehab facility at Heritage Green. It's a horrible place to go. I would not recommend them to anyone. She stayed there for about three months. She had medical problems, but nobody can see her, nobody looked at her. I had to really whine to get her stitches out from her hip. The nurse practitioner was supposed to do it, and it took two weeks later for them to do it. It was starting to get infected. She got a big bedsore there in the first four days. She had swelling, and they couldn't get the medicine to release the swelling because they never took her out of bed. The swelling came after the surgery. She was never supposed to have that. They added to her medication things that they weren't supposed to. I gave them strict instructions: whatever they give her, check with the doctor first. They didn't do that. They gave her iron tablets, and then they gave her potassium pills, but her blood pressure pill already has potassium, and that raised her potassium rate off the chart. She broke out in hives due to the medication. She was just miserable. The nurses on staff couldn't give her anything, and the doctor wouldn't come and see her. They say they have four doctors, but you'll never see the four doctors. In three months, she never saw a doctor when she was there. She was getting worse, so I took her to the emergency room. She was in horrible condition. They just don't answer the bell and are so busy with other people. They have a rehab section, and they have a regular section, which smells like pee. There's no air-conditioning, and it's about 90 degrees in the summer. It's horrible. There are people out in the hall flapping their hands, trying to cool down. They say they have activities, but they really don't have a lot. When you get in there, they don't really have what they say they have. They need more medical care and they need more staff. It smells; it?s just not a nice place to go. I feel really bad for the people who have to live there. I cried a couple of times when I visited there. The nurse practitioner was mean and rough. The nurses have just no heart there for the people. They really need to be shut down. I think they have had a lot of reports against them. I know four people who have reported them.

Heritage Green did a wonderful job to take care of my grandmother with Alzheimers. They were always kind and courteous, never treated her poorly, always made sure she looked nice and was dressed appropriately (even though she had no idea how she looked), and helped make her stay there as comfortable as they could considering the condition she was in. They were very friendly to all family and friends that went to visit my grandma. We never had issues with any of her personal items being lost or stolen (as we had in a previous facility). From the time she entered the home, she was well taken care of. It seemed as if the staff there truly cared about the people that came in - as if they were family, not just another "old person" to deal with. They did the best they could at caring for her at the very end of her life. She was never abused, never had any accidental falls or other injuries. We were extremely happy with the cleanliness there, as well as the new, updated look of the facility. Overall, I would be comfortable having to put a family member there again.

When my grandfather became ill and could no longer take care of himself, my parents began looking for a nursing home that had the help he needed and was close enough to be able to visit often. When they found Heritage Green it seemed like it would be the perfect place for him. We like to visit at least once a week and i find it to be a really nice facility. The staff is friendly, helpful, and my grandfather seems to like them. The facility is clean, with a pleasant atmosphere, a very comfortable vibe. The only thing i would have to criticize is the food could be better, that's the only complaint we hear from grandpa while visiting. Other than that i would recommend to anyone who wants a good place for their loved ones, who live near Greenhurst, NY.

I have experience with the Heritage Green assisted living facility because my mother's aunt was a resident there. Overall, I recall the Heritage Green to be a good facility and I do not recall any negative attributes. The staff was always friendly and helpful, as well as being very accessible. I used to visit the facility about once every week so I believe I have a pretty good perspective on it. Although this doesn't necessarily have to do with the quality of the facility, it was very close to my home which made the experience that much easier and convenient. Also there were many people from the neighborhood that were employed there and made it a welcoming and friendly place. I believe such facilities can at times be intimidating and often are thought of with negative connotations, but I believe Heritage Green was a wonderful facility with great staff. Also helped that when I went there as a kid they always gave me food! I'd give it top marks.
