My mom moved to Seneca Lake Terrace. I like the location; it's very nice. It's all one room, but it has a bathroom and a bedroom with closets, and on the other side, she has her chair and TV. They have people coming in playing music, a couple of times a week or at least once a week. They have programs where they'll have ice cream night. They have a full schedule of things going on. The facility was very clean and very well-kept. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

The memory care does not have well trained staff. Heard one in particular yelling at a resident and saying unnecessary things. Made me feel uncomfortable and sad for the resident.

The woman who gave us the tour at Seneca Lake Terrace spoke to us about the options and was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. She gave us a tour of the whole facility and let us know all the ins and outs of everything. It was a very thorough, really good introductory meeting to the facility. She was great. We were looking for a situation that might offer Mom more assistance with her care. The only issue was that it's a private pay facility and I think it's really important when folks are looking for alternatives that they know that, because the reason we had to finally step aside with our decision even if we liked the facility, is we didn't have enough time to figure out private pay funds for an extended stay there. So, mom would have moved in and gotten great care, but then we might not have been able to sustain that. So we just couldn't make that choice in the short period of time that we had to make the choice. They were willing to modify mom's diet and they certainly showed us everything. There was a haircut service. They just did not have an in-house medical. So, all mom's appointments would have had to be outside of the facility. That was pretty huge to us, too, having to take her to appointments instead of having a doctor come into the facility. We didn't end up moving her there, but they were super accommodating and got us right in for an interview. They had a room available (they don't have that many rooms), so you're having to make that decision rather quickly. Because again it was private pay, we couldn't secure the funds necessary to have a long-term stay there.

We chose it for my father-in-law because we have had another family member that was in there and they provide excellent care. It's an assisted living complex with a memory care unit. I've witnessed how they interact with him and how they take care of him. They keep him occupied and busy, and he's at least, interacting with people his age. He's been in their assisted living for a month now. If there are any concerns or questions the staff always call. They just also really take good care of him. They have a calendar of what they do each day. They have an exercise thing every day, and they have a snack and chat, where they can communicate with one another. Today they're having a spider toss and an afternoon walk then they news and game shows in the evening. The place is only 5 minutes away from us. The other night, because he likes to watch sports and he sometimes has trouble working the remote and he couldn't find the baseball game, I ran down and got it on for him. It's that close so if he can't get something, I can always get down there and help him. The hospital's also probably five minutes away, and there's a bunch of restaurants in Geneva nearby.

It is one of the places we're looking at, and we really like that one. The tour was very detailed, and the facility was very clean and nice. They offer the general amenities that would be normal. They have daily activities and weekly activities. The staff was very friendly. We tasted their food as well.

The staff included very nice people. It also looked like they did a good job of trying to provide activities. They have a little ice cream shop also. They did seem to have lots of things for people to do. However, this is the one that didn't have the walk-in-shower in the bedroom.
