I visited this facility

I toured Brookdale East Side assisted living and that was very pleasant. The people that I spoke with were very pleasant and accommodating and I enjoyed it. I really liked the layout too. I saw all 3 different layouts of rooms, and they all seemed very adequate. The staff was very pleasant and very helpful. I just didn't feel quite as comfortable as I did at the other place I visited. I also had lunch there. The food was good and the choices were definitely adequate.

"Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence." ~ Vince Lombardi The Brookdale East Side staff is consistently in the "chase" and they are catching excellence each and every day! My father became a resident on October 27, 2022 and we have not looked back or have had a single regret since placing him at Brookdale. The studio room is small but we have it arranged so that everything my father needs is right at his fingertips! Change is difficult for anyone, but the Brookdale staff has made the transition as painless as possible. The most important amenity for us is that my father is able to have his cat, "Leon", live with him at Brookdale East Side. I live close by and visit every day so I am able to do my father's laundry and light housekeeping as well as take care of Leon. My father is very happy with his new residence and he says the food is very good. I have sampled the food as well, and I am very impressed! Any questions or concerns are addressed as quickly as possible and I can not say enough about how kind and compassionate the staff is to the residents and the visitors. When I leave after my visit I have total peace of mind that my father is in very good hands, the same hands that are catching excellence at Brookdale East Side!!

Brookdale East Side was a much smaller facility and was not quite as bright. The residents were extremely nice though and the staff was more than pleasant. They're truly vested in their people there. It's an older facility, but it was neat and clean. They have a front door like a veranda and provide haircut service.

I visited this facility

I went to Brookdale East Side. It's very nice, the director is extremely nice, she's very helpful. It's just too small for my mom, and it was too expensive. If you go there, all things are included, so it's much more money, you pay the full shot whether you need it or not. The staff was very caring, they know everybody. The only thing I don't like about them is they don't have closets, they have wardrobes, and that takes up space within the room. They are on the small side, but they're not bad. I saw the menu, and it looks pretty good actually.

My mother will move into Brookdale East Side this Sunday. Money was a factor. I just like the people and the location. It's close to me. They were all very accommodating, they were very kind, and they were very good when they met my mother. They came out to the house, they did an assessment of her there, and they made her very comfortable. I wish the rooms were bigger, but they fit the bill. The surroundings seemed nice. It's really in kind of a densely populated residential area, but you don't really feel that when you're there, because it's set back on the lot, and it's kind of a nice, wooded environment.

I visited this facility

Brookdale East Side is a really nice place. I really loved it, but unfortunately we are not able to move in because they don't accept partial Medicaid and partial pay from the patient. It has to be strictly self-pay. I don't understand that, but that's the way it is. The staff were very lovely and wonderful. They gave me a lovely tour, they were all very gracious, and that was very nice. It was a very lovely facility, too. I would love it if my daughter could be there. It's also very close to my home -- just within a mile -- so it would have been an ideal place. The dining room was beautifully set up, and the apartments were very nice. The small studio had its own private bathroom with its own shower, a nice window to look outside, and enough room for everything that a person would need, like a chair, a bed, and a dresser. All the other areas were very clean and very nicely kept. They also have a library there.

I visited this facility

Brookdale East Side was very nice. It was a larger community with more activities. However, it's about a half-hour from where I live, so it wasn't as convenient. We had to wait for a while for a staff member to give us a tour; that’s was one thing I was concerned about. The community was beautiful; however, I didn't think that we needed to wait as long as she had as waiting. They have a shuttle bus, and they go out on trips, they have video screen where they can play games, and they have crafts and exercise class. There were quite a few activities.

Brookdale was an excellent site with nice people, but we're not ready for that yet. The location was very convenient. The whole experience was excellent. The food was excellent, and the care they provided appeared to be excellent. The dining area was very clean and organized, and the food was received very quickly. It was the best site I've seen so far. It seemed the community was engaging with each other, which was nice.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother is at Brookdale East Side, and she is doing well. She made friends. They have given me a calendar of activities, so I coordinate with them some days. They have mass, bingo, and different activities for the residents to enjoy. The staff seems patient with her. The activity director is very kind. The nurse, Kim, also seems very kind. Overall, we are very happy.

Brookdale East Side was very nice, and it had nicer amenities. They were offering incentives to move in there. The dining area was comparable. The organization was good, and doctors could make house calls.

I visited this facility

Brookdale East Side (Formerly Emeritus at East Side Manor) was very nice, and it offered a lot of things. It's basically the same layout where my mother is because they're sister properties. There were one-bedroom studios. The staff was most accommodating for the tour I took. The dining room was one big dining area. They offered the same accommodations and same activities. The people that showed me around were very professional and answered all the questions I had.

Emeritus is a couple of miles away from where my wife and I live. My father-in-law is already quite familiar with it. The rooms are actually nice. The place is very close to shopping and medical facilities. They curve the facility from which out of a wooded area, and a lot of deer would walk through. They have very nice landscaping. I ate there one time when they had Christmas dinner. I thought the food was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I did notice they have singing, bingo, and they also have every day vans and buses that will take people to grocery store, to the mall, museum, or to some type of event. As opposed to other facilities, they have a very good deal, especially considering the services that they offer seem to be included in the price.

I showed up at Emeritus at East Side Manor but they weren't ready for a walk-through. The person they told me who do that wasn't even in the facility. Someone else gave me a tour, but this person didn't have answers to my questions. The environment seemed fine; the atmosphere was fine. It was acceptable and it didn't feel institutionalized. It's just that the people there weren't prepared for me and that the room they showed me was too small. There really wasn't enough space in that room.

My mom lived at Emeritus at East Side Manor before she passed away. My sister chose it because it was close to her. It was a good facility and the atmosphere was good too. I thought the staff were very nice and my mom was very happy. There were activities in the facility and she loved the food.

My father wanted to stay in his own home, but after touring east side manor he loved it. Now he's been there three weeks and is happier than he was at home.
