I am a fairly new resident (3 months). My daughter-in-law found this place for me. I am totally blown away on how good Elderwood is. The staff are, to a person, very caring and attentive to details. The sit-down meals are great. The facility is spacious, very clean and feels like home. Activities are another high point. I am surprised that I am saying this, but I have found my forever home.

Everyone was very friendly at Elderwood Village at Fairport, and the place was very clean, and they were doing some renovations on each of the client's rooms for fire doors, and so I was impressed with that. The hallways were wide for those with walkers and wheelchairs. The only thing I did not like is that when you first walked into the building, the residents were all sitting right there, and that just made me anxious for them, just due to the the gun violence that we've seen. Also, I wondered when the receptionist became busy with people, how they kept track of who was coming and going. The rooms seemed very nice. There was nothing negative that I could recall. The staff was very nice, answered all my questions, and provided us with a lot of information.

Elderwood Village at Fairport probably would have been my first choice for my mom-in-law. They just don't have the licenses for advanced levels of care. The staff was great. They had lots of activities and they were friendly. The rooms were great. There's lots of good natural light. They had a salon, and a courtyard, and they do ice cream socials on Fridays. So, they're a very social community.

I would highly recommend the Elderwood Village at Fairport. It was a very nice facility, and the director who I met with a couple of times was just outstanding. I saw a private room. All of the rooms were very, very clean. Since we live in a big house, the size of the room was a little kind of hard to envision, someone just being in that room because it was small. But they have activities, and they have to leave their rooms to have meals, and they mingle. They had a little open garden area. I thought it was an excellent facility. I was just disappointed that it wasn't a skilled nursing facility. I just saw a room where they had projects that they were working on, something to keep their minds and their bodies active. The staff was very caring and professional. They were just wonderful people. The director was just so informative and so caring. Actually, after my tour, the director asked me if I would like them to bring me lunch the next day. So, they actually came to my home with lunch, and it was wonderful. They brought me fresh bread, fruit, and lentil soup. I just liked the parking lot; it was easy and accessible parking. The main lobby was beautiful. They have a big TV and leather upholstery chairs. It's a very nice place.

I wanted my mother to go to Elderwood Village because it's small, and the people, care, and food are just phenomenal. The problem was they don't have a Medicaid-supported bed yet, and my mom will be running out of money in three years. I didn't want to move her into a nursing home after the assisted living. They've applied for Medicaid, but New York state is not easy to deal with financially. It's close to things, it's clean, it's small, it's very familial, and the people there are just awesome. They're top of the line.

Elderwood Village at Fairport was very clean. The apartments were too small, and there was no kitchen in the community, so that was a real turn off for me. But it was small, nice, cozy, and everyone seemed nice and engaged. Although I didn't see as many activities in assisted living as in independent. They gave me a pound of pasta to go, which was nice. The staff member who accommodated me was Chelsea and she was wonderful. I had a very good tour; the staff who gave the tour was good.

I chose Brookdale Fairport because of the dedicated staff. I met several of the residents, and I have a friend who has been there for two years who enjoys it and seems well taken care of. The food is very good. My mother has dietary problems so they make food for her special needs, and we don't have problems at all. The place is very clean. I would rate the friendliness a 5 and the size of the rooms as 4.

The people are really nice. The place is small, so everybody seems to know all the residents by name. The staff is very helpful, very friendly, and have been really good. We've been very pleased with it, so far. Mom can call for anything and they’ll come and help her with normal activities. A local church comes, and she loves the services and music. She enjoys the people there.

My visit was great. They were very willing to work with us too. They had like a separate studio apartment with a nice, good-sized bathroom. Also, they had a really beautiful dining room. The chef was there and we talked to him. You order off a menu like you're in a restaurant. It was very nice. We talked to some of the people there, they were very happy. We like this place, but my mother is not ready to go. They had various activities like arts and crafts and puzzles. They were busy doing stuff. I would recommend this community to others.
