My father lives in a large studio apartment at Sunrise of East Meadow. It's the base price for that and then they just added on for other services like medication management. So, he's paying a little more, because he needs somebody to take him to breakfast/dining. They provide a lot of hands-on care. It's a beautiful facility. I call it a hotel for seniors, not an assisted living. To me, it's like a little country club for the elderly. Plus, the sales director is very nice. His room is on the ground floor with a large picture window. It comes with a twin bed, a chair, an end table, and a chest of drawers. There's also a small kitchen area for snacks and a very nice bathroom with a walk-in shower stall. It's very clean. It's got neutral colors and nice curtains. We had a TV set up in his room, then I brought some artwork from his former home. The grounds are manicured and well-landscaped. What's nice is that the interior (even some on the exterior) is decorated for the holiday. So, there's a lot of foliage, giving it a Thanksgiving holiday look. They also have activities such as bingo, movies, and arts and crafts.

Sunrise of East Meadow is an excellent community. It's a wonderful place. I was thoroughly impressed with the level of care and how they take care of the seniors who are in their care. It has an open sundeck on the roof overlooking the baseball field where the kids play baseball. The staff who gave me the tour was wonderful, too.

I liked the staff at Sunrise of East Meadow very much, especially their head chef. He was very personable. My mother-in-law likes to cook and he said that he has residents who could help them out if they're interested. When they took us on the tour, they answered all of our questions really well. It was a very nice facility. They had the activity room, a front room with a television, and an area where they watched movies. They gave us cheese, crackers, and grapes when we left to take home.

Sunrise of East Meadow was very nice. They served us cheese and crackers on a little cutting board that you get to keep. They also have a separate memory care. The rooms were nice and good-sized. The staff was excellent. They were going to have music and people coming in to play the piano and sing. The activities were wonderful. It was pretty and nice.

Sunrise of East Meadow was fine. The place was clean. The people were nice. The residents seemed to be cared for. The staff was very forthcoming with everything there. They were able to answer all my questions. Everybody was fine, and nobody was alone. It seemed like they had enough staff there to support everybody. They had different recreational activities that were available.

Sunrise of East Meadow was unbelievable. They were absolutely amazing. It was just too expensive. When I got there, they had a board with my name. I sat down. Then the person that did recreation things came and sat down with me. The person who did the cooking sat down with me. It was just an absolutely great presentation. Every single thing about that place was wonderful. If I had the money, I would definitely send my father there.

I saw Sunrise of East Meadow yesterday. It was a beautiful and very clean place. The staff members that I saw were very knowledgeable. I was pleased with the room and with the venue for the meals. It was just a lovely place to send a loved one to. I met the person who did the tour, I met a nurse as we were walking through (she stopped and talked with us), and I met the chef. He came in and did a little presentation for me on the food. The menu looked wonderful. There were plenty of amenities. There was a library, a TV room, an activities room, and a hair salon.

I went to Sunrise of East Meadow. It was extremely nice. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They were very specific. They went over menu selections and dietary needs. It really was very impressive. The staff was amazing. She was very, very helpful. She understood our situation because I told her. My mother was with me, my mother was resistant, and she was very comforting to my mother. She was great. We really thought that she was the right person for that job. There were three different types of rooms that you could get depending upon your needs, depending upon obviously the resident's age, because I would not get the one that had more of a kitchen for my mother. I'm trying to get her away from the kitchen. They were absolutely fine rooms, very, very nice rooms. They had movie nights, they had cooking classes. They had a lot of activities. Unfortunately, for my mother who is older, my mother could have taken advantage of these classes and things of that nature if she was younger. I'm sorry we didn't put her in this three years ago, because I think she would have benefited from it a lot more than she would now. It's my mother's situation. It's not the facility. The facility looked great.

I just came from Sunrise of East Meadow. It's very nice and the staff was very courteous. The rooms were clean and spacious. I did see the dining area for lunch. It was pleasant, clean, and very homey looking. I did not try the food. They had a room with puzzles and a library, they had a hair salon, and they had a movie room. It was very well maintained.

We saw Sunrise of East Meadow. I didn't have a good feeling. I felt like people were brought with their wheelchairs to a central place and kind of plopped in a room without much attention paid. They were kind of gathered around the TV and nobody's trying to interact with them. I just had that feeling that they didn't try as hard to engage. The building was good. I didn't think it was as nice as the other facilities. It's only a three-story building, so it's flatter, it's more like a ranch home than it is a high rise, which is fine. But it didn't feel it had like a lot of logic to the way it was set up. I even got turned around during the tour. I thought I was supposed to go left, and I was supposed to go right. I wasn't particularly crazy about the actual structure of the way the rooms were placed and such. They showed us what they called a large studio, and it was very nice. We were more interested in a one-bedroom and they didn't have any available. There was a very kind resident who allowed us to come into her apartment and take a look around. It was nice. The rooms themselves seemed nice. I think the smaller studios were a little bit too small, but the larger studio was a nice size if that is what we were looking for. They had a mini-fridge, a microwave, a sink, and then cabinetry. The staff was wonderful. She was lovely. The chef came in and talked to us there. Their marketing team is strong, which is why, over the phone, we were leaning in that direction. They make a good sales pitch. You can tell that they genuinely like their jobs, or at least they seem to. They do a good job.

I went to Sunrise of East Meadow. The outside was beautiful. When I went in, though, the inside looked a bit tired. It needed to be repainted. There was an odor in one of the rooms. I really was not thrilled. There were people sitting around just watching TV, and for $10,000 a month I think they need to do a little bit more than watch TV. My mother could do that at home. The chef was the one who spent a lot of time talking with me. They didn't give me a really good picture of what the place was like. Everything was à la carte. If your mother needed something around her neck to press for assistance, it was extra. The place looked very tired. It needed to be repainted. The outside was beautiful, but the people were just sitting around.

I saw Sunrise for my mother. The community was great, but it was too expensive. I did a full tour. I would have preferred that my mother was there because everything was good. They had a walking trail outside and a patio area; they were very nice. They have activities and trips. The dining area is great. I like that they make all the food on premises and everything is made from scratch. Sunrise was too pricey though.

My father is at Sunrise of East Meadow Senior Living for 2-1/2 months now. The staff is good, but my father is wheelchair bound, and its a good place if your loved one doesnt need a lot of medical issues where they need a lot of attention. The room is very nice, like an efficiency, it has a refrigerator, and a sink. They have activities, and I thought they would have a lot of interactions, but they just keep him up there. The aides are better than the professional staff. The price was exorbitant.

My husband's stepdad was at Sunrise of East Meadow. It's clean, easy to get to, and excellent. They had great, loving staffing. The grounds were very nice. They had plenty of parking. He was in a nice-sized and very roomy one-bedroom. They also had a studio with a bed and lots of activities after breakfast and after lunch. Everything looked fine.

I was not impressed with Sunrise of East Meadow. The turn-off happened the minute I walked in the door. First of all, it was a much older community. These people were mostly in wheelchair. However, the staff seemed very nice, and the rooms were OK. But I didn't taste their food, and I didn't see how the staff did things.

I liked Sunrise of East Meadow. I thought they had a great leadership in the dietary department. They had an executive chef that overseas all of their nutrition. They involved the dietary program in the recreation programs actually made for the residents. They had cooking classes and cooking demonstration. They gauged it for the residents to make it more interesting and fun. Plus, they did a lot of special things. They made personal things for somebody if they wanted. When they made a sandwich, it was a real sandwich and not like some meat stuffed between two pieces of bread. Plus, they had nurses 24/7 so they were providing a higher level of care. It was much more effectively and efficiently run. They had a real vibrant atmosphere. Everybody knew everybody’s name. It was very warm and caring. I would recommend Sunrise for a couple of reasons. In terms of quality, I thought Sunrise had it.

I visited Sunrise of East Meadow for my dad, and it was a very nice facility. They specialize in dementia patients, like my father. The nice thing is that it's very close to my mom's. They have a policy in which you give them $1,000 that's refundable, and they put you on a waiting list. Depending on my father's condition, he seems to be OK. It's day to day. He may be bad a week or two weeks from now; we don't know, but they are willing to hold a spot. The thing I like about them also is that they charge you by the day. It's not like you have to give them so much money upfront; you get a monthly bill. I did see the rooms and apartments and toured the facility, which I thought was nice. They had a locked in facility, but it still was nice, and another facility on the other floor. It's technically minutes from my mom's home, so she could visit him. The grounds are very nice, pretty, and well kept. The price was pretty reasonable. I would recommend it. It was close to the psychiatric ward in case we need to put him here.

I had a very nice visit at Sunrise of East Meadow. Everybody was great. The rooms and layout were nice, but it was just too expensive. The dining room was very elegant and fancy. The facility had an overall happy feeling. There were all kinds of activities available. I was impressed with the ambience and the way the whole facility was decorated.

Sunrise of East Meadow was a beautiful place. I would live there. The staff was very professional, cordial, nice, and easy to talk to. If I had any questions, they answered them. The dining that I saw looked nice, but I did not try the food. Overall, it’s very nice.

My aunt is doing very well at Sunrise of East Meadow. The individual care and attention that she is receiving is excellent on the floor she is at. They have multiple activities found in all senior living facilities, but this one overdoes it. It is a little better than the normal. She is active in bingo, visits out of the facility, to parks and boardwalks, and she takes part in parties that they throw. They do all they can with her. They have a doctor on-staff who she sees, a dentist who had given her cleanings right there at the facility, and a podiatrist on-board.

It's been a month and a half since mom is at Sunrise of East Meadow and I am very happy with it. It was more of the social aspect that they have her involved and she is feeling so much better now that she is surrounded by people engaged in all the activities. My mom enjoys all the activities and she always raves about the food. The grounds are beautiful, well manicured, and beautifully kept. It was very clean, bright, and homey.

Sunrise of East Meadow seemed fine, but they really didn't have the services that my father-in-law needed for his dementia. The only thing we liked about this facility was that it was the closest.

We were very impressed with Sunrise. It looked nice. We like some of the rooms. Some of them were nice. They have little kitchenettes. All rooms have bathrooms. Also they have a bedroom and sitting room. However, I think the facility would be nicer for my parents. The people were personable and friendly. I saw that they pushed to have their clients mingle, and that's important. However, I didn't notice any activities. We tasted their food, and it was good. Sunrise's dining area was more like a hotel setup.

Several times I'd been at Sunrise to visit a resident. I had been extremely impressed not only with the courteousness, but the genuine warmth and interest that was displayed by the staff to visitors and residents alike. The staff was very upbeat, friendly and interactive. People made eye contact with a few "good mornings", "how are you" and "nice to see you". If they were pushing the cart or coming out of the room with sheets or whatever, it was at a nice pace, not frantic. The people genuinely were calm and they were going about their daily business in a very friendly, professional manner. I saw several staff out of the corner of my eye interacting with the residents in wheelchairs, so you didn't get the feeling people were just stuck in a room. You get the feeling that people are being attended to. One time we weren't sure which way to go, and a cleaning person asked if we needed help getting somewhere. There was a lot of attentiveness by the people who were employed there. There was somebody at the desk to greet you. It looked like it was kept very clean. I saw really good quality. In terms of my interactions though, I'll just speak to what I saw, I would give them a 5.

Everyone at Sunrise was very friendly. The staff knew the residents. Everything was very clean. The rooms seemed to be in order. However, I felt like they had more fragile and less mobile type of residents and it would not fit our needs.

When we visited Sunrise of East Meadow, we found that it suited the level of care that my relative needs that's why we placed her there. The environment is very clean and very homey and we are very pleased with it. Their rooms are very nice and very well-kept and right now, she is staying in a shared room. The staff is very competent and very pleasant to deal with. Their food is nothing outstanding but it is acceptable. I haven't seen anything that they need to improve on as their services have been very good. They do the best that they can with the activities depending on the level of care that is required. I'm also very impressed with the cleanliness of the place and the personal services that they provide their residents.

My grandmother is 92 years old and suffers from dementia. She resides at the facility because she could no longer take care of herself in a safe manner. My experience with Sunrise has been very positive. The staff is "fun" and "warm." They go out of their way to get to know residents and their families. They are very careful to keep a close watch on residents and know where they are at all times. They also take the time out to get to know the residents families. The facility itself is like a big mansion. It is lovely decorated and they never forget a holiday. Exercise classes, musicians, arts and crafts, trivia, and outings to dinner are common for the residents who like to participate. The chef also gets to know the residents likes and dislikes and comes out during dinner hours to personally greet them all. Recently, a staff member was married and a bus was organized to bring the residents to the church to witenss her wedding. They certainly go the extra mile. The Sunrise also holds family events for everyone such as "summer ho-downs, etc" complete with a buffet dinner, band, and even wine and beer. They are very nice to attend. I feel my grandmother is well taken care of here- however the cost is EXORBITANT at nearly $8000 per month to keep her under their care.

It's not the ritziest facility I've been in, but it's pretty close. It's a rather small place, very cozy. The staff members are mostly helpful and cheery, which is no easy feat up at the Alzheimer floor. The rooms could be larger. The furniture quality is excellent. There are limited common-area facilities, but they try hard to pack outside trips into their programming. It's nice because it's on this long stretch of secluded road, but I can imagine that can become a negative if any resident ends up wandering outside of the facilities.

While I was there visiting my grandpa I was impressed with the cleanliness of both the room and the dinning hall. I felt that the assistance was above average, however; the attention that the staff could have payed to my grandfather could have been slightly better. For the most part the atmosphere was nice and everyone there seemed happy and comfortable. I had the opportunity to eat there too and the food surprised me as above average as well. There were also activities that one could do to keep busy and make acquaintances. My grandfather became very forgetful with his age so they engaged him in holistic programming focused on brain health. These are programs that are based on recent research into brain function and engagement. This unique approach helps seniors stay focused, be less anxious and strives to slow the progression of further memory loss. Specially trained team members guide each resident in structured, stimulating activities resulting in increased independence and self-esteem. Every time I went to visit my grandfather he was always happy. Overall a good establishment that I would recommend.

I was looking at an assisted living facility to place my father in. Sunrise is close to my home so I'd be able to check in on him every now and than. When I visited the facility my first impression was that inside was very clean and beautifully decorated. It was around noontime and the waitering staff was serving the residents lunch. They were very attentive and quick to cater to the residents needs, such as second helpings, extra water, etc. Upstairs four gentleman were playing Wii-Bowling in the community area. They seemed very happy enjoying the experience. I think my dad would be happy here.
