We are leaning towards Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie for my dad. The person managing the place, we could see how caring and kind she was to the residents. Even though she was having a very demanding morning when we went there, she took the time out and showed us around and we could see her interaction with the residents. She was very compassionate. It felt like a home environment and a little less institutional. It was a beautiful facility with a lot of windows and natural light. They had a beautiful chapel. The rooms were nicely set up with private bathrooms. They had a big gathering place as you walk in where the residents were having fun playing and bouncing around a ball with music. There are just a lot of little areas where people could sit and watch TV or take a rest on a sofa. It just seemed to have a lot of space where each resident could find a place where they could be comfortable. They also had a very nice courtyard.

Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie is a really great place. The patients or residents with Alzheimer's can't exit the building. There's no way to get out, so they can wander safely all they want. They take them out to places. They can go outside and different things like that, so it's really nice. It's a great place. We chose this because it was one of the only places that could guarantee (as much as a guarantee could go) that my dad wouldn't exit the facility because he wanders and ends up outside. The staff is extremely friendly, and they're very attentive. There's always one of them around. You can always find someone, so they're very well-staffed. He likes the food. It looks very good. They have great desserts and great meals that look appetizing, although I personally didn't taste them. There's a calendar of activities. They have a lot scheduled every day, and people also come in. There's a woman that came in the other day and was playing music with them. They all had instruments, and it was very engaging. In comparison to the other places that I've seen, it's costly. You get what you pay for.

I toured Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie. It was a great experience. However, we just decided on a different direction based on what we think my aunt's care needs will be going forward into the future. She's private pay right now, but she may not stay that way for too long. The rooms were absolutely beautiful. It was impressively clean and modern. It was just bright and airy. The person who gave me the tour was very personable and extremely informative. I didn't try their food, but I certainly wanted to. Their menu option looked amazing. Their dining area was very modern and engaging.

I loved Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie. As soon as you walk in, it's very bright and cheery. You could see the activity of all the people that are involved. It was very clean, and the rooms were a nice size. Everything was so bright and welcoming. They had fish tanks, birds, constant access to coffee, and stuff like that. I just had a very nice feeling. If the day would come, I would have no problem putting my mother in there. The staff was excellent and the place was neat and up to date. My mother goes to church. I liked that they have a chapel where they have services, and they also have rosary groups during the week. I saw bingo, a section for sewing, and other things I would never think of. You would never know if you're in a senior living place.

Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie was a very vibrant community. Residents were walking in the halls talking to each other and sitting in the community room. The unique thing about the place was from the time you walked in, they had a lot of things to help people remind them of things outside from nature. They had an aquarium, a little aviary with some little canaries and other kinds of birds, and a natural rock-type fountain. They even had a railroad track set up for anybody, if that was a hobby of theirs. They do community outings to restaurants, too. My friend's father is a sports enthusiast, and they're just right next to Christian Brothers Academy, where he can go and watch football games or baseball games. It also had a chapel and a lot of unique features throughout. The rooms were nice. Each one was set up with a bathroom and the size was just right, and they encourage people to stay out of their rooms. They want the residents out and about in the community areas, in the lounge where there's a TV, the place where there's a piano, or the different areas where people could hang out and do puzzles. Their dining area was like a restaurant. We met the chef and it impressed me knowing that he trained at the Culinary Institute of America and he gave my friend, fresh out of the oven, a warm loaf of bread. The gentleman who toured us around was excellent. He was a younger fellow, was more down-to-earth, and seemed to know all the residents.

We visited Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie. I liked the tour, it was excellent. The place was very clean, very open, and airy. Everyone was very friendly; I would say very cordial. I like the area, and the facility itself was appeared to be relatively new. It was an excellent place. The staff was very nice; I also met the assistant director, they were very cordial, very nice. I did not have any experience with the meals. I only have information as to what they serve, written samples; but I was not there at the time when they were serving. They have a chapel, a salon, a barbershop; No swimming pool that I saw. They had a nice variety of assistance groups, such as medical assistants and aids. It appeared that they had a good team. I even met the service guys that hooks up your TV, and everything like that. I thought that it would be homey. When I look at these places, I'm trying to put myself in my husband's shoes and that's difficult to do. But I would say that someone would be comfortable there.

Dad moved into Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie on Monday. It's memory care. It's too early to say right now but it seems decent, so far. I'd say the communication is okay. His room is nice and you can kind of personalize it however you like so that's nice. They have some birds in a cage, an aquarium and they do a lot of activities. I don't know if he's been taking advantage of them yet, but it seems like there's stuff you can do there. The food's pretty decent too. He's been enjoying it.

My stepdad has been staying in the Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie for about a month now. The place is beautiful and clean. They have a ton of activities to keep the residents busy and active. It's not the nursing staff that does the activities. A separate activities staff keeps them busy and helps them to establish a good routine. It's been very positive for him, and it's easier on the staff to take care of him too because he understands what the expectations are with the routine. They've been very caring, attentive, and kind. There's lots of activities that he enjoys doing, including being able to walk outside in the enclosures. He can't leave, but he can feel like it's in a more normal setting where he gets to walk outside. They also have multiple courtyards, an indoor aviary with birds butterflies and plants, and that's a wonderful feature. The staff has just been excellent with him and very open with their communication as to how he's doing and what's happening with him. He's gaining weight and sleeping well now. The food has been very good too. He's comfortable, and we know he's safe and well cared for. It is more expensive, but when you compare it to everything out there, the experience we know he's getting there is worth it.

Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie was our best choice so far. I was happy enough to place my cousin in their care for respite. I liked it. They have single rooms that were well equipped. They have nice activities for the residents. The food was good. They have in-room bathrooms with a shower, bathtub, and sink. It was a locked facility for memory care.

Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie was a brand-new place, so everything looked good. The staff was nice. The dining area looked fine. We didn't notice anything wrong with that at all. The room looked good. With it being memory care, there was no real kitchen or kitchenette type of facilities in it. It was like a large motel room. The bathrooms had good handgrips in it. We were accommodated very well. It was all clean and everything was good.

My mother has been living at Peregrine since the end of September (~3 mos when posting this review). I visit 2-3 times per week, and in this time, I have found the staff to be a caring and patient group of people that give my mom the attention she needs, and treat her as they would their own family. My mother has always been a "foodie" and she praises the dining experience! The food is sincerely top notch. The medical staff is responsive and will call with concerns and information promptly. The facility is very clean with a nice layout, secure outside areas, and beautiful birds in an indoor living area to watch at your leisure. Overall, my mom and I are both quite happy where she is, and I would highly recommend Peregrine in Colonie to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones to reside with peace of mind.
