My husband is in M M Ewing Continuing Care Center. They're doing physical rehabilitation and occupational rehabilitation. He's now at a stage where he can somewhat get around with a walker. They help him with toileting, and they prepare the meals. They help him with all of his daily living. With regards to cleanliness, it would rank very high. More importantly, to us as a family, it's the caring staff that are there. Everyone is very compassionate and very caring. They get to know their clients immediately. He has only been there a little over a week, and his CNAs know him well, and they know what he's capable of. So we're very happy with the care. I haven't tasted the food, but it looks very good. My husband likes it.

My husband was a resident of M M Ewing Continuing Care Center. That was in the heart of COVID, so I could never go in there. I couldn't see him there. If I had something to bring, I just had to leave it in the common area where they would bring it to him. So, I never saw his room. I could see the main lobby, it was very nice, but he never even got taken out of there for a change of pace. He was comfortable there. He was very pleased with the physical therapy he received there. His room was fine. I would imagine the food was fine because he never complained about it. This nursing home was actually accessible from the Thompson Hospital. From the looks of it, just from the doors where you dropped off anything you brought him, it was very nice. They have a receptionist, and she was very nice. This one cost me a lot because they admitted him to the hospital just for observation. The insurance doesn't cover the nursing home, only the PT in that case, so I had a very large bill from them. They were very accommodating because the patients couldn't have any visitors, so they would keep you informed. They actually had a dentist that came in a couple of times a month, which was very good to know.

My aunt was diagnosed with MS, and we eventually moved her into Ewing because she needed around the clock care. Everything seemed fine at first--rooms were clean and spacious, and she seemed to be getting healthier. They had activities for the residents to participate in, cut and wash their hair and take care of them. As of lately, there seems to be increasing signs of neglect--whether they or understaffed or are not paying attention. Bedsores from not being turned, bad infections, severe dehydration. And it's getting worse now with COVID preventing visitation.

Overall, I like the place. It felt homey and it was a good fit for my grandmother. It gave her some freedom while still be under the watch of people who knew how to care for her. The staff were all very friendly and easy to get along with. I was skeptical at first about sending her to a nursing home, but the staff was nice so I felt comfortable with her living there.
