My siblings and I placed my mother in Teresian, she was there for a few years and passed away last summer. I am beyond grateful for the nuns and doctors and staff at Teresian for helping her final years be comfortable and happy at times. She always wanted to go home, but with the private rooms, she had the dignity and privacy not provided in other places , the doctor was the only one to every properly diagnose and treat her Lewy body dementia and with the right medications, she was SO much better, she never did not know who we were and did not have to suffer the hallucinations and other awful symptoms. THANK YOU !!!!!

Teresian House was enormous with many wings in a very tall building. It looked like a mid-level hotel when you come in. They had nice, large rooms for social spaces. When you get up to the floor where people were actually living, it seemed very chaotic. There were lots and lots of people, and it seemed that they were not quite as staffed up as they needed to be. The tour guide was very forthcoming, very nice, and very professional. It's very kitschy depending on the taste of the family member. I'm not sure if it would be suitable for everybody. The staff seemed to be overworked. The layout was OK.

I placed my husband at Teresian House. It is run by the Catholic church. It is wonderful. All of the rooms are individual. There are no two people in a room. It is very well set-up. They have a huge dinner. All of the staff is wonderful. There is a chapel there, and they have mass all the time. My husband has just moved in a couple of days ago, but everything is wonderful so far. They have all kinds of activities, e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, and exercises.

Teresian House is run by nuns. The only reason we liked it is my husband has two sisters (but they are deceased now) and they were in Teresian House. So from some personal experience, we liked it. It was very nice. Probably in Albany it was one of the best nursing homes. The rooms are OK. They’re small but very nice. There are three floors. On each floor they have two wings. On each wing, there’s a really nice room with a tv and computers if they are able to do that. They can go in to the room and sit and watch tv just so they can get out of their room. They have a chapel there; they can go to church. They play bingo too. The dining area is very nice. The food is pretty good too. They have enough nurses, but they could probably hire more people to take care of their patients. The people there do have to have constant care. They do a really good job, but it’s hard.

My grandmother was a resident of the Teresian House. She had alzemiers disease. She shared a room with one other woman whom also had the same disease. They were friendly with each other but always forgot whose bed was whose. The Teresian House has a flower garden centered in the middle of all the rooms. The residents and their families enjoyed sitting in the garden and watching the birds and butterflies flying around. the flowers game them something to ponder and watch grow. it was very enjoyable for all who lived there. They liked to bring everyone there to show them their favorite flowers. Sometimes they would have meals in the garden. they also had music hour and would dance and have fun. The staff were very helpful. They directed the residents to their proper rooms when they got confused. They assisted where needed. It was a very friendly atmosphere and different than most places.
