My wife is in Sombrillo Nursing Home. It's the best nursing home in the state. I took care of my wife until I could get her into Sombrillo because I want her in that one. She's very happy. She doesn't remember me or any in the family, but she is laughing, and she has lots of friends there. My daughter went up there last Wednesday and she didn't tell them that she was coming but my wife was clean, her hair was done, her clothes were clean, her bedroom was clean, and her bed was made, and they didn't know she was coming. Sombrillo is good. Sombrillo did not have a case during the pandemic. They shut everything down immediately. They checked all employees before they get in and they put plastic around and away from the building so that you could go and look at your patient. We couldn't get in for a year and a half, and now they're open. My wife has been there for two years now. She is there forever because she doesn't remember anyone. It's the best in the state as far as I'm concerned. They have the same activities as everybody else. They have everything they want to do.

Most of the employees at Sombrillo Nursing Home are very good. They have regular nursing care and rehab for injuries. Most of the employees are very good. They care about taking care of people. The food is terrible. Since the new company took over, they want to give you about a lot less quality for the same price. We're not paying any less, but we're getting a lot less in food. My room is alright. It's not terrible. It's a shared room. They only have a few private ones, and they cost too much. My insurance won't pay for a private one. The cleanliness of the place is pretty good. They have a good housekeeping staff. They clean all the time and. They come in every day to mop and sweep. With regards to activities, people play bingo and, in the summertime, they have gardening. They have chair exercise programs. I would go to physical therapy myself, but not everybody is in therapy. There are some people who are just residents, and they'll go to bean bag toss and other little games. They would do fingernails and sometimes hair.

My step-mother is in Sombrillo Nursing Home. They're very difficult to deal with. We've made requests of them for information. We've had to make requests for information for her records several times. She was supposed to be taken to a doctor's appointment. They didn't take her, so she missed her appointment. They had to reschedule it for a week later. We've had to make numerous calls just to find out about the pricing and how much it was going to cost when they did move her to the regular pricing. It was after her rehab period was over. They called my dad and told my dad, and he didn't understand what they said because he's 90 years old. He doesn't hear very well, and so he just thought it was informational. They had all my sister's information. They should have called my sister. We're sitting waiting for them to tell us she's transitioned to a regular payment plan. Lo and behold, she had already been transferred. They put her on medication that was not approved by her doctors, and without telling us they were putting her on medication. For instance, she has glaucoma. They gave her an antidepressant that doesn't work well with glaucoma. They also added high cholesterol and high blood pressure medication to her that her kidney doctor had specifically said she couldn't be on. They didn't check with anybody before they just randomly started this medication. We're just waiting for the physicals and all that to be done to get her out of there. We just want her out of there. They're very nice to you when you're there. They greet you, and they're very friendly. If you try to get any information on numerous people and everything, it's just like pulling teeth. It's just so difficult. They wouldn't let us in there. We weren't allowed to leave the waiting room. We never went inside the facility. They're having all their visitors come outside. I think it's on the guise of keeping people out of there. They're using Covid to keep people from going in there.
