Searching for a facility can be a daunting undertaking. When visiting, it is not always enlightening to talk to the residents, for they have made a choice and do not like to think they made a bad choice. Instead one of the most telling indicators is to talk to the staff. A key question to be answered is their (staff) length of service. The longer the better is an indication of a good facility. At Lakeview it is not uncommon to find staff employed for 20+ years. At many facilities we visited, we found a rapid turnover of employees. Less than two years employment was common at many places. Look carefully at the financial model. Some will keep all of the "buy in". Others have a sliding scale that will reduce your equity by a certain percentage each year until it is gone. Lakeview guarantees you will receive your equity back (less a small fee for new carpeting, painting, etc.). This is an important consideration if you wish to pass something on to you heirs. Aside from all the above, we have been here more than 8 years, and have made many new friends and are more convinced than ever we made the right choice.

My Mother was a resident of Lakeview and we could not have asked for her to receive any better care. She was always treated with the utmost dignity and respect. She truly loved her nurses and aides. We always felt like Mom was treated as an individual person who truly mattered and not just a resident. It took Mom a couple of weeks to settle in, but we were so pleasantly surprised, she was happy in her new home. The last few months that we had with Mom were so special, because with the loving care she received at Lakeview, she had returned to being the person she had always been. And we can never thank Lakeview enough. My Daddy would visit Mom every day and the staff took such special care to treat him just as special. Another reason we love Lakeview. If you have someone you love that needs the care that Lakeview provides, I would not hesitate to recommend Lakeview.

My mother broke her hip. She had been independent and this totally changed her life. It wasn't where my brother or I could give her the care she needed. The answer was a nursing home. I hated the thought of my mother being in one. Lakeview was selected. I didn't trust "nursing homes" taking care of my mom! So I showed up at all hours of the day and night-hard to get out of bed at 2:00 a.m., drive to Carlsbad to check on her. But I did the unexpected visit to mom for a year. Finally I was satisfied. I never found my mom cold, dirty, hungry or not receiving needed attention. Those taking care of her were loving as well as professional. If there was any kind of situation regarding her, I was immediately contacted. Mother was in the nursing home for three years. She passed peacefully while residing there with a smile on her face. As a daughter, I couldn't ask for more. My experience went from distrust to total confidence in this professional facility. They were a blessing to our family and especially to my mother.

My mother was a resident of Lakeview after my father passed away for six years. The level of care she received was very touching and the relationships she had with her caregivers was great. We were very appreciative of staff and care she received while at Lakeview.

My father-in-law was at Lakeview Christian Home for skilled nursing care for 4 months. We chose Lakeview over other options that were available because they were a complete package. He had fractures in his back and was also experiencing some severe behavior problem. The staff were so patient and loving with him, even when he would threaten them or strike out at them. Other days, he was so loving back to them and I know it was because of how good they were to him, each and every day. The therapists were amazing as well. He gained weight and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the staff that were so compassionate with him. His room was great and very comfortable. Unfortunately, he had a heart attack and died 2 days later. However, they placed him on their hospice program and they were awesome as well. Our wonderful experience has helped us deal with our grief in a much healthier way.

During my dads stay at Lakeview Christian Home the quality of care was excellent. He as well as myself were made to feel like family. I would definitely suggest them to others looking for a quality long-term care facility.

I moved here in 2007 because of the health of my husband. He fully enjoyed the last 3 years of his life, especially fishing in the lake near our home and daily coffee with the Ol' Codgers. I appreciate the close-knit community, beautiful homes and the wonderful maintenance crews. I arrived home on a Sunday to find that the line to the refrigerator ice maker was leaking which could have been stressful and expensive. Not here! In a matter of minutes a pleasant young man arrived, quickly stopped the leak and mopped up the water, just one example of the many advantages of living in River Bend.

My grandparents moved into this community and love it. They don't have to care for anything, as the maintenance is all included. It feels safe and secure and all the neighbors are friendly and help look after one another. The yards are well maintained and I really like the streams with waterfalls and brooks running through the backyards. Really beautiful! It's great knowing they don't have to worry about anything anymore and can focus on enjoying their golden years together. We love to visit and enjoy the community center with the indoor heated swimming pool. Very nice!

I have lived in River Bend for over 8 years and I love the Community Center with indoor pool, fitness center and library. We really enjoy the social interaction with other residents and the warm friendly atmosphere of the community. What we enjoy most is knowing that we don't have to worry about taking care of the residence. All the maintenance is provided, including the lawn care, AC/heating, plumbing, electrical, etc. It leaves my husband and me free to enjoy our retired life with family and friends.

My grandmother in law stayed at this facility. From what I knew of it, having visited her a few times and my mother-in-law's opinion of it, it was very nice. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They helped care for my both my grandmother-in-law and my mother-in-law. My grandmother-in-law had Alzheimer so she could at times be difficult, but again the staff was very patient and knew exactly what to do and say. My mother-in-law had a hard time with her passing and the Lakeview Christian home showed such compassion and care for her. Very good, clean, organized yet homey facility as well.
