My mother broke her him last November and chose to rehabilitate at Skies Rehabilitation in Albuquerque, NM. Her first two days there I became very worried because she seemed so out of it. My mother had all her faculties so when she didn't know who I was and was slurring her words, I became alarmed. I told the nurse she was not some old person who had lost her memory and that it was very out of character for her. I had to feed her because she couldn't even feed herself. It took me hanging out for long periods of time to get to talk with the Dr. on call. Once I explained my mother was not normally this way, he adjusted her pain medications. Come to find out her liver was not processing pain medicine like most and it lingered in her system longer then usual. Once her pain medicine was adjusted, she was my same old mother again!
