I stayed in a rehab center called Advanced Health Care of Albuquerque, and it was wonderful. They're just for rehab even though they have 40 rooms. It was outstanding. The room was spacious. It had a large armoire, it had a good-sized TV for being in the room so much, and it had a little efficiency sort of kitchen with a counter, a sink, a mini-fridge and a microwave like you would find in some hotels or motels, and I like that a lot. They had a gym, they had a doctor, they had two nurses, and they had quite a few what they call certified nurse assistants, where if you would call them for help with anything, they would be there in a short time. They have excellent food, three meals a day. They would wheel you in if you needed to be in a wheelchair with oxygen if you needed that, and/or they would deliver the meal to your room for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They had a main meal that was changed every day, but you could also have a choice of other things that were always on the menu. Like if you want a hamburger and French fries, they had other things on the menu besides whatever the special meal of the day was. I went there on Medicare and insurance, but I understand that when that runs out, it's $6000 a month. But the one I looked at yesterday, a three-bedroom-two-bath house with a couple of items of gym equipment and a living room, they wanted $5000, no private bath, so I would say, compared to that, it's got a much better value.

Food was tasty and well prepared. PTs, OTs, and Speech therapists were good and well trained. Nurses and nurse assistants were attentive and friendly. The administration was disorganized, inconsistent, not honest, and at times rude. They canceled doctor's appointments and treatments without approval of the patient's primary doctor and without permission of the patient and family. With an autoimmune deficiency, the cancelations were life-threatening. After threatening to sue AHC of ABQ if any harm came to the patient, the head administrator reversed his decisions not honor doctor and lab appointments "if needed." The on staff medical doctor visited patient's infrequently asking a few questions and then moving on. Questions like "how are you doing?" or saying "you look better" - hardly a diagnostic check. Blood samples were often scheduled for 9 p.m. or later and the puncture occurred without waking up the patient first. Intake procedures were ludicrous - recording ANGLO for the race question (there is no Anglo race!!), when asked level of education our family member said he had a doctorate from U.C.L.A. The admissions person recorded MD not Ph.D. There is a difference. Discharge was scheduled one the Friday prior to a holiday and a van for transport was denied. Upon a recommendation from a PT for an extension of stay, the extension was denied by the head administration without explanation. When asked for a description of the discharge protocols/policies, the discharge administrator seemed perplexed and unfamiliar with established procedures. There was no discharge visit with therapists or rehab administrators. The discharge administrator said that a home inspection for potential hazards and a schedule for home physical therapy would be arrange by AHC of ABQ. It is now 6 days later and no one has called. When asked about the delay two days ago, the discharge person said that home care was not one of his responsibilities. We were greatly disappointed.

The staff at Advanced Health Care of Albuquerque was very good. I got to talk to some but due to COVID, I was unable to get into the facility. Everyone I talked to was very helpful, though, and my father was very pleased with the service he got there. The facility is excellent. I would imagine the food was, at least, okay to good. Nothing bad about it and I have not seen any negative reviews on it. It was a little on the expensive side, but they provided everything they said they would. The facilities and the staff were also outstanding.

My husband came from rehab at Advanced Health Care of Albuquerque. He was there for 17 days. It's a very nice-looking place. The rooms and the hallways were very large. He liked almost all of the staff. The only problem was the Covid lockdown, so it was difficult to get in to see him. They had a lockdown when he went there, and then the lockdown got lifted. I got to go in and see him for two days, and then they had another lockdown. It's a good place to go if you have a patient advocate or a family member who can see you every day. Otherwise, the Covid lockdown is very depressing because you can't go to the dining room. You have to eat in your room. You're not allowed out of your room. They did therapy in the rooms. The physical therapists are the only person who can take a patient out into the hall. The patient has to be gowned and masked. I could probably give a more accurate assessment of a place without the Covid restrictions; but they were very strict about Covid, which is to their credit. They were quite accommodating. I didn't eat with him there, but the food appeared to be very nice. He loves breakfast, and he ate his breakfast. It was good breakfast. If he had a problem with any of the therapist, they were very accommodating about sending a different therapist. They're all private rooms and very large. There was a lounge chair that is electric, so that it will recline with a button. There was a hospital bed, a large wardrobe with hanging space and drawers, and a TV. They have DIRECTV. There was also a small dining table with two chairs. In the room itself was another counterspace that had a sink. Then at the end, there was a microwave and below it was a small refrigerator. The bathroom was very large with plenty of room for people in wheelchairs, the commode, and the shower. I would give the direct care staff a 5, and the administrative staff a 3. The rooms were lovely. The facility's been there for a while, so things were a little worn.

Was there for rehab after my hip replacement. Our first Dr never showed up even after 8 days so they switched me to Dr Ralph and his PA Karen who were warm and professional. The aids are extremely busy, but the still make time to take care of the patients with courtesy and professionalism. The nurses were kind and seem top notch. The food is really tasty. The rehab was very very good. Personalized and rigorous. I went home after 17 days and they set me up with really good rehab and a nurse at my house. I hope I never have to go back, but if I do I know I'll get great treatment.

My brother in-law is here. He was neglected his first night here. He was not given his medication and his calls for help to use the restroom were unanswered. He needs help getting around as he just had a knee replacement. Somehow he was categorized as being independent when he obviously is not. He wants to go home after spending one night here. He is scheduled to be here for a week.

I went there for rehab after a hip replacement. PT exceeded my expectations. OT had experience with primary lymphedema which was a blessing. Would have been 5 stars but the food was not good.

My mother went to AHC after a knee replacement. It has been one mistake after another, from mismanaging serious medications such as wafarin, her INR, adcirca, etc. --- skipping them, wrong dosages, telling her she's received them when she hasn't (she's only 78 with a mind like a steal trap). They staff say they are "too busy" to bring her meds. We moved her to another facility. It was too dangerous. She would have received better medical care at home. Don't be fooled by the nice decor and cafeteria. Your loved one isn't there for a spa day. Seek out good medical care.

Beautiful facility, but gravely mismanaged! As another person indicated, if you are not involved with the care of your loved one, you will get along fine with administrative staff. Taylor, Jennifer and Emily do not want to hear complaints and are belligerent when held accountable for the mismanagement of the facility they represent.

You need to stay on top of the staff, especially a person named Jennifer - they are the worst at following doctors orders, communication, advocating for the patient. Then, please don't bring up any issues because you will be shut down. You don't have to go here but in some cases it will be ok but not if your family wants to be involved. They will let your family sit in wheelchair unattended next to the fire place, no socks or shoes on - TERRIBLE

Advanced Healthcare Of Albuquerque is NOT a skilled nursing facility. We were told there was a MD "on staff" ,but, there is not. A very junior Physician Assistant is the person sent to represent medical expertise. Our Mom became dehydrated and an IV sat by her bed for hours waiting for someone who knew how to out in a "pick line". This is irresponsible for a facility with so many elderly. The facility is lovely, but, one has the feeling the staff is going through their paces to collect Medicare dollars.

Advanced Healthcare of Albuquerque has a beautiful facility. I first came here when my friend Rose was receiving rehab for her leg. The inside common areas of the facility have the feel of a mountain lodge with high ceilings and a fireplace. There is a nice place to sit for socialization in the lobby, as well as a covered patio outside. There is also a library available for resident use which has books as well as internet access. While the food served at the facility is good, the dining room itself is somewhat on the small side. It always looked cramped when I visited during mealtimes. For the most part, the staff seemed friendly in their interactions with Rose. However, on occasion there would be some individuals working there who seemed to have an attitude of indifference to the residents. Overall, however, I would recommend this facility, and, if I needed rehab myself, would hope to be fortunate enough to get to be a resident here.
