My Mom was a resident of Arden Courts for 4 years. Once her dementia had progressed to the point that she was no longer safe at home, my brothers and I placed Mom in a facility that was very nice on the inside but was not a good match for my Mom and her behaviors. It was recommended that we look at Arden Courts and we are so glad we did! Mom was allowed to “walk off” the extra energy she had and the staff worked with Mom to let her wander but stay safe. The staff was so kind and caring with Mom that it was easier to leave her after every visit knowing she was in good hands. Everyone knew her by name and treated her with dignity and respect. Mom had her own room with her own belongings and she enjoyed the daily activities, even when it was difficult for her to participate. The staff knew how to keep Mom engaged even when she no longer knew how. Mom passed recently and we never realized how much a part of our family the staff of Arden Courts had become. This facility was truly a blessing to us as we dealt with Mom’s advancing dementia over the past few years.

I had an in-person tour of Arden Courts in Wayne. The staff was very informative and friendly. They have a wonderful courtyard. They have a little walkway all around the house. The people can sit outside if they wish to, and they have access to the outside at all times. They have a lot of activities every day. They have painting, crafts, and outside entertainment coming in. I like the setup. They have beautiful paintings in four different corners, like one would be the farm scene and one would be a seaside scene, so people would remember where their room is. They have it all color-coordinated. The rooms are very nice. They are furnished with a wonderful bathroom. It's only one person in a room. They have a little kitchenette with a little refrigerator. You can bring some furniture yourself if you wish, but they have a nice bed, a table, a nice chair, and a closet for your clothes. They have everything someone with dementia needs. The menu was posted every day. They are geared 100 percent toward people with dementia and Alzheimer's.

My father was a resident of Arden Courts of Wayne. The staff there is marvelous. They are very caring and on task. They took incredible care of my father. I felt so comfortable knowing that he would be getting the best of care. Everyone is so nice and friendly and are very willing to comply with any requests you may have. The director, Kathy H., is very sympathetic and reassuring with what you are going through with your loved one . She is very responsive when it comes to any concerns you might have. Santa F. was especially helpful and kind to us and spoke Italian with my father, which I believe helped my father to feel more comfortable there. Arden Courts has a very homey feel. The decor is warm and comfortable. Each wing has a different theme so it is easy to find the one your loved one is in. The entire place is on one level. The rooms are a good size for one person. There are many activities for the residents and the staff actively encourages them to participate. In nice weather, there are areas outside where the residents can walk or sit and enjoy the weather. The food is well-balanced with a lot of variety. My sons tasted it and they thought it was very good. I would not hesitate to recommend Arden Courts to anyone. I was very pleased with the care my father received there. It was first rate.

My mother was a resident at Arden Courts for a year and a half. The caregivers are very loving and professional. Santa Falcone and her assistants run a full program in the activity center. They offer exercises, word games, puzzles, coloring, various other games, musical entertainment. My mom was also in another facility where they listed various activities but the residents were stuck watching tv all day and they would play bingo or pokeno. My brother and I consider Atden Courts a second home even though our mom is no longer there. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a memory care facility.

I chose Arden Courts because my husband can walk 24 hours a day if he chooses. They are there, very kind, and have a lot of activities, like playing ball and miniature golf. There’s quite a few men there, too. I know it probably doesn’t make any difference because they don’t speak that much, but I thought that was good. I’m just happy with everybody there. They have several nurses and someone is always there to answer questions. It’s very sunny and bright, and the food seems good because he’s eating every single thing that he gets. The recreation ladies are coming up with new ideas and are very kind to everybody. They take them outside and can go out whenever they like; they can just put their jackets on and go out. It’s built into a mountain and very high walls around it, so they can’t escape. The road is right there, and he has a window to look outside and see the cars and trucks going by. He’s interested in trucks; that’s his thing. They play ball, watch movies, and have a popcorn machine like the old fashioned ones at a circus. Actually, I have several clothing groups for the ladies, and some men, where they come and sit and hold fabric. Another man comes and helps them with golf, and the spouses seem to volunteer to do things also. It’s small but very nice.

Arden Courts has a homey atmosphere. They have a dining room, a living room, and a kitchen to make it look more like a home environment. There are four units in the place that are set up this way, and there are just so many residents in each unit. I don’t think it’s well-managed, and I think the nurses are overworked, so it translates into not enough care for the residents. The people in the activity room are doing a good job. They have bingo and movies, singers come in and entertain with songs, and they do trivia. There need to be more staff. They need to have at least two caregivers per 15 residents.

Arden Courts of Wayne was supposed to be for dementia care but I really wasn't satisfied with it. My mother did not have the supervision that somebody with dementia really needs which is like false advertising on the part of the Arden Court people. My mother was continuously falling and getting hurt. She actually left there with a broken nose and we had a private aide with her round-the-clock towards the last few weeks that she was there. I didn't think that the food was very good at all. It was really pretty horrible, and I don't even think some of it was edible. They had eight patients to one aide. If somebody got dementia, there's no way they can watch seven or eight people at the same time. It should be at least a 3:1 ratio or 4:1 in a dementia unit. She fell getting out of bed one day. She had to go to the hospital a couple of times when she was there. She wasn't even there that long, only two months. It was a very pretty place and she had her own private room there. From that standpoint, it was wonderful. It was a very well-appointed place, but that's where they spent their money--on all the decorations and the material things. The people just wandered around aimlessly. My mother was not being well taken care of there. It just wasn't the place for her. Some of the girls that work there were really nice and compassionate people. I really personally liked a couple of them. They were wonderful, but they can't take care of eight people and that's not their fault.

I would like to take an opportunity to write a review of Arden Courts of Wayne. My Mother, who is a resident, is 89 years old and suffers from Alzheimer's disease. The disease is horrible because it is impossible to figure out and it just puts a loved one into another demension of time. Before the day she entered Arden Courts I was devistated and did not know how I could possibly care for my mom. The thought putting her in a place other than her home was heart breaking. I remember saying to myself "how can I do this to mom". While I still wish there was a cure for this disease, that is completely out of my hands. What I now know after having my mom there for only four months is that haing her live there is the best thing I could have done for her. Please consider the following information: She gets excellent care in a place that is spotless. The residents are treated like they are part of one big family. When I go there I am always pleasently and surprised by something. It could be a performer, a special snack (today they made popcorn), or maybe a game or a story. There is always something going on. A special thanks to Eve and Charlene who are the nurses on duty. They do their jobs well, and they put up iwth a lot of things which are generated from this nasty disease. Great job ladies. Alyse is the executive director, and Nancy is the business manager. they too are always there to help and answer questions. What can I say about Santa Maria? She really cares for the residents. She knows them all by their first name, as does all the employees at Arden Courts of Wayne, but her careing attitude is to be lauded. If anyone needs to find a home for their loved one wh is suffering from memory problems I must tell you Arden Courts of Wayne is the best place. Thanks for taking care of mom! Always, Bob Collmier

Staff provides excellent care for all clients. Both my parents are there and we couldn't be happier with their care. I strongly recommend this facility.
