My oldest sister(Sharon) lived in a one bedroom apartment in Cardinal Village. Sharon, middle sister(Donna) and myself(Patti) can not say enough great things about Cardinal Village. From the first day that Sharon moved in to the last day(unfortunately, she passed away) everyone went above and beyond for her. Every single staff person every day always had a smile on their face and was very very personable while taking care of people. The facility is very clean and Sharon raved about the flavor of the food. Many many activities. The nurses and aids(while being very professional) would always take the time to talk to Sharon and they would always end up laughing and smiling. Donna and I always felt very comfortable after our visits knowing that Sharon was always being taken care of. We all would highly recommend Cardinal Village to any future residents.

Cardinal Village is a nice and good facility. Everyone was very friendly. They have amenities. It just doesn't have all the things that I'm looking for. There were some things that I needed to consider because of my allergies. For example, there's carpeting on the floors in the apartment there, and I can't have carpeting in my bedroom. The people there are very content. It just didn't suit all of my needs. The lady was very knowledgeable. She has been there for several years so she knows what she's doing.

We had a great visit with Wendi and her team. They made my mom and family feel welcome. It’s a big decision to give up your home and change your way of life. But after visiting other facilities Cardinal Village seemed more like home than all the others.

I don't think I can say enough about Cardinal Village! The staff is amazing, thoughtful and attentive! The facility is top notch! The campus is clean, has a warm, welcoming feel, and is on one floor (no elevators or steps). The apartments are spacious and bright, and the screened-in porches are an added bonus. Wendi, one of the directors, was incredible from day one. She has been there for me, and my parents, in so many ways and I couldn't be more grateful. Debbie, one of the receptionists, has equally been supportive, and is always available with answers to my questions or just a friendly chat. My parents are currently in independent living, but will be transitioning to assisted living soon. Again, I can't say enough about this incredible facility and it's staff!

There are very select communities that offer both independent and assisted living options, and when they do the cost is generally quite high. The value of the Cardinal Village community is unmatched, and the warmth and caring of the staff is excellent. The activities are varied and enabling residents the opportunity for bus trips helps maintain their social lives. It's an exceptional community.

I had some difficulty getting my father to agree to assisted living, but as soon as we took the tour, saw his apartment and sat down to a delicious meal, he was sold. We were really impressed with the kindness and caring of the staff and the ability for him to call them as he needed something on his alert button. His apartment couldn’t have been nicer. Living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. It was almost like home to him. (It even had a small, screened-in outside porch for sitting outside.). I can’t imagine a better place to admit a loved one. Cardinal Village really put my mind a rest for my father’s well-being.

My tour experience of Cardinal Village was very good. It was professional and welcoming. We sat down and talked to the staff. We took a little tour through the building and looked at an apartment. The staff was very helpful. Residents were having happy hour. There weren't that many because they were on a trip, but there were some people around, so it was fine.

I liked the independent living side at Cardinal Village. The place seemed very clean and friendly. I liked the apartments and I liked that they had a little porch off of the living space where they could sit outside. The person who took me on the tour was wonderful.

Cardinal Village was a very social community. They had a 50's night, and we went down there and saw the interaction between the community and the people that were playing music. It was a very friendly atmosphere. It was clean but a little gloomy looking.

We visited Cardinal Village and we liked the independent living of it where you own an apartment. The staff was very knowledgeable, seemed to give more info, and made you feel at home. They have a lot of activities for the people. You can participate in them or you don't have to, but it's there for you. There was a pretty area outside where people could plant herbs with pretty outside seating as well.

Cardinal Village was very nice and clean. The receptionist was very helpful. They showed me a studio and it was big enough (although we would be more interested in a one-bedroom for my mother-in-law). The hallways were also nice and clean. The residents seemed to know all the staff. They were all friendly towards each other. It's a little smaller of a place, so I think that's why you get that bond between them. It seemed like a lot of their employees had been there for at least ten years, and even more, so that was one of the things I liked about it as well. The activities were great. They have a social calendar that they gave me and it was pretty full, which was what we were looking for, something to keep my mother-in-law busy. They have a library, a courtyard, and an onsite physical therapy if you want to use that. They have a beauty salon and a nail salon, too. They would do nails every so often, and then hair services were a little more frequent. The only thing I have a concern with was each unit does not have their own washer and dryer, which was something my mother-in-law would prefer. Other than that, I liked that each unit had a little screened-in porch out the back where there's a little enclosed courtyard. So, that was nice to be able to get outside and not have to worry about bugs and that kind of thing. It was a nice little area for them.

Cardinal Village was really nice. The rooms were very spacious. They had a little balcony sitting area for each place. They had activities, but it didn't seem like they had as many activities as the place that my dad's currently at. The people were really nice. The only con was money-wise. It was a little bit on the expensive side. The rooms were very nice, and probably the best I've seen. Their dining area was nice. They need more activities.

From the first day we walked into Cardinal Village, we witnessed an extended family and community helping us care for our loved one. At the beginning of our independent living decision search, we toured many places. While chandeliers, under-utilized swimming pools and three-story dining windows were showcased, none had the caring family feel mentioned above. Like fresh air, we found great attitudes, flexibility, and a willingness to do more than any specific job requirement.

The care given to residents is excellent. My dad was in another assisted living and the care here is much better here. Staff is helpful and friendly. They treat the residents with respect, love and dignity. The residents are always happy.

I visited Cardinal Village, it was very welcoming. The moment we walked inside we saw lots of activity, and not just senior citizens in wheelchairs, the people were interacting with one another. It was under renovation but you don't feel that, I still felt welcomed and it was a warm atmosphere. I met with the director. I guess the director, her name was Carolyn and she just was phenomenal. She was so nice, kind, caring, and very considerate. She was awesome. They were my second choice for my parents, it just was a little larger community. The establishment, being as old as it was, you wouldn't know from being inside there because they kept wonderful care of it. The cleanliness is good. I didn't get a chance to have the food, but they gave us homemade cookies when we left, which were sweet. It was nice. We just didn't choose this place because it had 200 residents whereas the other place had just 100.

Cardinal Village was welcoming and warm. The staff seemed generally concerned, and everybody seemed happy. The apartments were very nice. They're spacious and the exact size my mom was looking for. Cleanliness seemed spot on. The dining area was very open and brightly lit. There seemed to be plenty of activities that were right up my mom's alley, too.

I'm on a waiting list in Cardinal Village. The woman was very friendly, and all the residents were happy and laughing. It was very clean, and I loved the apartment. Every other apartment I looked at just felt so cramped and claustrophobic, but this one was airy. I just like the place. The staff were great. They were friendly and outgoing. It was just a nice visit. The place was neat and clean. I had no objection to it, and no reason for not wanting to live there. The laundry room was nice and clean. Even the trash room where you dump your garbage, that was nice and clean, too. No complaints at all.

We checked into several facilities before my mother moved in, and we were all very happy that she chose Cardinal Village. She lived in the Independent Living section for three years and enjoyed her time there very much. —Management and staff are great; respectful, approachable, helpful, kind, professional. They communicate important information and all of my mother’s and our family’s interactions with them were positive. —Apartments are nice; a cleaner comes once every two weeks to clean which is nice. They have cleaning products but you can provide brands of cleansers that you particularly like. —The screened-in patio expands the living space and is a nice bonus. There are two high steps down to get to the patio, however, so difficult for residents with a walker or wheelchair to go onto the patio. Some residents have paid a carpenter to add a raised platform which resolves this issue. We did this for my mother’s patio as she used a walker her second year, then a wheelchair later, and it was well worth the expense. —It’s difficult to please everyone when it comes to meals — the variety, preparation, etc. My mother liked the food, however, and although there were some things she didn’t care for, there were alternatives to choose from. In addition, the kitchen in the apartment gave her the option of preparing herself some food that she especially likes. —There are a number of activities that residents can be involved in. My mother took part in only a few, but enjoyed those that she did participate in. There is no pressure to join, only encouragement and ample communication so everyone is aware of the opportunities available and can pick and choose. There are laundry rooms that everyone uses. There is a decent gym, although not many people use it. There is regular chair/gentle yoga and other health activities. There crafts and occasionally live performances, such as singers, dancers. The area high school is close by and students are sometimes involved in activities. —The facility, both inside and outside is well-maintained. There are trees, shrubs, and flowers outside so the setting is pleasant. You can plant flowers around your outside patio, add a bird feeder, etc. the communal areas inside and the individual apartments are also well-maintained. Maintenance staff responds very quickly to calls for repairs. Living at Cardinal Village was a very positive experience for my mother and her entire family.

I visited Cardinal Village for my mom. We couldn't actually tour the inside of the facility because of Covid, but we're able to meet with and get a tour of the outside of the facility where they showed us both assisted and independent living. Both facilities were very professional, very welcoming, and they were lovely places. I would be happy to put my mother on either facility. It's just simple fact that she likes to return home than to move-in to one of these places. I was there for 10 minutes and I met with one person. I would say both places were wonderful, they gave me brochures, they both had schedule services. I would honestly say both of these places are excellent, and I would recommend them to anyone looking at assisted living or independent living facility.

I visited Cardinal Village. And I was very, very happy with the facility, that's what we can say, because we were in an unused apartment and it was very nice. That's where we did our actual interview, and we did everything else virtual because of the pandemic. But I was very pleased and was very happy with the accommodations. I only saw 1 room, but it was very nice, very well maintained. Everything about it was very, very nice. The woman that I was with, her name was Karen, was exceptional. She gave us a lot of information, and she was just a nice person, and very informative as to what they do. I was there in August, at that point there was no activities. They were eating in their rooms. They were sending foods in their rooms. I believe there was no social in there back in August. I was very pleased with it. I haven't gone to any other facilities at this point. This is the one I went to because it's convenient, and I heard a lot of very good things about it from a lot of people in the area. So, I was very pleased with it. From what I saw everything was very clean.

My parents moved to Cardinal Village about 10 years ago from their home nearby. They were always independent and made their own choices. This move was based on my mother's declining health. They selected a lovely spacious apartment, which they both enjoyed. After two years my mother's health needs required assisted living. The staff was marvelous in working with us to make this transition possible. In assisted living my mother received all necessary care for the remainder of her life. My father stayed in the original apartment and was able to be with her for significant periods of time daily. He remains in his original apartment and remains very independent. Staff at all levels continue to be supportive, kind, and caring. They are extremely dedicated to maintaining the highest quality of life for residents. Then there is COVID-19. I applaud the dedication of management and all staff in their efforts to keep residents safe, comfortable, and feeling cared for in these extremely difficult times. Thank you Cardinal Village.

I cannot say enough great things about the staff at Cardinal Village. My Mom has been a resident in the Assisted Living section for over 3 years. They have gone out of their way, time after time, to help her with so many things. The Nurses, in particular, are FANTASTIC. They communicate with our family, they support my Moms wellbeing both physically and mentally. My Mom can be very difficult and the staff is very attentive. Mom was living at another facility nearby until we could get her in at Cardinal Village. What a difference it's made in our lives. Mom is safe and content here, and so are we.

My Dad moved to Cardinal Village at the beginning of the year. The staff has been incredible from the beginning. So welcoming, warm, and responsive all the time. They go out of their way to help him whenever they can. The apartments are large and spacious, and the best part is that they have screened in patios so that I can visit from outside whenever I want. That has been a blessing for our family and dad during the last several months especially. I can’t thank the staff enough for always keeping us up to date and making my Dad’s life so much better!

My uncle was a resident in Assisted Living at Cardinal Village for over two years. While it was difficult for him to make the transition, it was the professionalism and caring attitude of the management and staff at Cardinal Village that made this transition go smoothly. All healthcare providers involved in his care were total professionals and took a special interest in making sure he was comfortable, especially the nursing staff. Since they are on-site, 24 hours, it gave us peace of mind that he would always receive the care he needed, 24/7.

Our family loves Cardinal Village!!! My mom has been a resident there for 7 years and calls it her home! She moved into Independent Living which she just loved and then to assisted living. I cannot say enough about the wonderful care that my mother receives at Cardinal Village. The nurses are some of the most compassionate & caring people that I have ever met. All the staff is amazing. They are always so helpful, respectful, kind & understanding to her. They really go out of their way. They always keep me informed of things going on with mom. We made a great choice in coming to Cardinal Village!

Cardinal Village had a lot of activities. They had movies, games, they had a dining room, and they kept the residents busy. The rooms were a decent size, adequate for what they were, and some had screened-in porches. They had a chapel and a library, a big meeting room, and a bunch of different rooms. The building was dated. It needs to be updated, but it was adequate.

We moved my dad here several years ago after my mom died. He was very lonely and we thought that it would be good for him to be able to do things with his peers. We looked at several communities and thought that Cardinal Village was the best choice. The rooms were very large with wonderful screened in patios. Everyone was so helpful, friendly, caring and accommodating and you got such a warm feeling when you walked into the building. You could see that everyone enjoyed living here and that they were well cared for. My dad has thrived living at Cardinal Village. We are so glad that we made this decision to move him here. We would highly recommend this community if you are looking. We can't say enough good things about everyone & everything.

I was at Cardinal Village. I was very impressed with it, and I'm considering living there. They have a theater, a bingo hall, a library, a study, a gym, and a sauna. The apartments were very spacious, and the apartment that they showed me was getting painted, and getting ready for a person to move in. it was nicely painted. The lady who gave me the tour was absolutely excellent, answered all my questions, got my daughter and I something to drink, and called the next day to see if I had any questions. I was very impressed with her. They have card game night, and a board game night if you have to play Monopoly or Scrabble. I really like that every apartment has an enclosed porch, that you can go out and sit on the porch every summer, it's enclosed, and it has screen and glass. The other thing I liked is I have a pet, and I can bring my pet. That's very important to me.

My 88 year old father moved into Cardinal Village one year ago. He really likes it there and has made many friends. The independent living apartments are well designed and have outdoor porches which is where he loves to spend his time listening to audio books. What makes Cardinal Village really special is its staff. They often tell me that they "love my dad" and I can see that they really mean it. His well-being and happiness is their #1 priority. They understand the struggles associated with caring for an aging parent and have made the process much more comfortable for my family. We are all very happy with Cardinal Village.

When it was time to move my Mom and Dad to assisted living because they both suffered from dementia, I visited several facilities in Washington Township. Cardinal Village was the last of five. That was better than four years ago. I chose Cardinal Village because of the kindness that was shown from my first contact with Cardinal.. My exact words to Trish, the nursing director were "You have the kindness eyes I have ever seen in a health care practitioner and I am going to hold those eyes responsible for my parents". She never let me down. From Trish on down, the entire staff treated Mom and Dad with nothing but kindness, caring and respect. I lost my Dad last year and Mom just died December 22. The staff could not have been kinder. I truly felt that all who cared for my parents genuinely loved and cared for them. I am so thankful that I found Cardinal Village.

Cardinal Village felt like home, and my mother was ready to move in after she visited. Everybody feel very welcome. The staff was extremely tenured, very easy to approach, and very personable. Everybody was really great from the service staff to management and to the clinicians. They have general practitioner and multiple discipline specialists that actually come in house. There is free transportation within 10 or 15 mile radius. We spent 4 hours touring the facility.

Cardinal Village was very nice. Maria, a staff member we met, was excellent. She gave us a lot of information about how we could afford to keep my mother-in-law there. The only thing was that the place seemed very dark to me. My mother-in-law prefers to be in a place that has a lot of windows.

My mother has moved into Cardinal Village in Sewell and likes it a lot. There are a lot of things for her to do. It’s very clean. They seem to take care of her very well, so she really likes it. The staff is very nice. If you need something, they come right out. If there’s something in the apartment that’s not working, they come out and fix it right away. If my mother forgets to ring her check-in button, they send someone right to her room. It’s very good. I don't have any complaints at all. They have activities, bingo, a dining hall for all meals, and a courtyard if they want to spend time outside. She has a very nice, small apartment.

My mother spent the last close to 4 years of her life at Cardinal Village Assisted Living. Although Mom was not the easiest person to deal with all the staff, aides, nurses, dining room workers, Activities staff were always very kind to her. On a personal note as her days drew close to the end the love and caring that was given to me and my family was indeed over and above their "job duties". If you want to feel that your loved one is being taken care of on a day to day basis to relieve your anxiety and stress I can highly recommend Cardinal Village to you. Although Mom is gone I will still be going there to visit all my sweet ladies and gents and to plant flowers on the patio I loved to sit with her on. That will be my ongoing honor to my mother for Cardinal Village. Dianna and Janiczek Family

My parents moved into Cardinal Village at the end of November, and they like it, so far. They're in a big place in independent living, which is nice. It was one of the bigger places that I had seen. They think the people are really nice and complain a little bit about the food, which is pretty typical. There was an episode with my father where he he had gone out the front door; he thought it was daytime when it was actually nighttime, and the door locked behind him. There wasn't anyone at the front desk nor was there a bell or anything outside for him to ring when he figured out that it wasn't daytime. It was 3:00 a.m. He ended up going around the back of the facility where some man saw him and took him over to the assisted living side where there were people able to let him in. We weren't happy with that because that could've been a really bad situation. It would've been nice if they had cameras at the front doors that they could've seen what was happening. There's a code that you could get to open the front door, but my dad has Alzheimer's and didn't know the code. Overall, they're pretty happy there. Their room is a very spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom with a screened-in porch in the back. However, there are three steps to go down to the porch, and my dad's in a wheelchair.

We are really glad to hear that your parents are happy in their apartment! The situation that you describe was scary and safety is an important consideration for seniors who are living independently. Typically, safety (either personal or medical) is the reason that residents move from Independent Living to Assisted Living. All the safety features you identified do exist in Assisted Living. I am happy that we were able to work with you and your parents to find a solution to keep them safe in their independent apartment at this time. I encourage you to speak to the Executive Director for more information on a ramp so that your father can enjoy the patio!

We have a good impression with Cardinal Village. The problem is we were really a different type of environment with for my wife. The staff seemed very good, I have no complaints about it there, and everything was very nice, but we just saw that it wasn’t the type that we were looking for. The room looked very nice and spacious. They gave us lunch there, the food was good, and the dining area was spacious. The facility itself really impressed me.

At Cardinal Village, they had friendly staff. It was a nice community. When we got there, we weren't disappointed. They were very nice and the place itself was very nice. However, we're looking for something that would be more permanent. It seemed to be a little bit too independent for my grandmother. She needed more assistance than what we could do there. Also, my grandmother was starting Medicaid within the next two weeks, but they wouldn't accept it. Nevertheless, the rooms were nice. The room we looked at had its own patio and screened-in porch, and it was very nice.

We went to Cardinal Village. It was OK. It just seemed like it was old. The staff was nice; there were a lot of them. The patients seemed happy.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and review Cardinal Village. As you noted, Cardinal Village is 25 years “young”! As an established community, Cardinal Village offers many benefits that our newer competitors don’t have ~ things like bigger apartments, screened patios and extra storage! We are constantly renovating and do our best to stay ‘up to date’ while maintaining our comfortable, home-like environment. Most importantly, Cardinal Village boasts 24-hour licensed nursing coverage because the care of our residents is our #1 priority!

When I went to visit Cardinal Village Senior Living Community, it did not feel like a place that I would want to go to. It was more of an assisted living facility than an independent living one. It was run-down, the carpets were worn, the rooms needed updating, and the hallways were dark and narrow. The dining room also served as their activity center, so there were too many people at the same place at the same time. There were activities for the residents. But still, it was not a place I wanted to be. They needed a major update, brighter and wider hallways.

Cardinal Village Assisted Living Community was a very nice facility. Their staff were very nice and friendly. They were run very nicely, but they only give you two meals a day, and I think they should give you three for what they charge.

Thank you for taking the time to visit Cardinal Village and post a review. We are glad that you found the community and staff friendly and nice. However, I wanted to point out that three meals a day are included in the Assisted Living rates.
