Mom has been in Sunrise of Randolph for about a month now. Overall, it has been a good experience. She is given the help that she needs, especially with the experience with Covid. It seems like they've taken their precautions, but we've still been able to see her. We are able to see her and not worry about it. The place is very well kept and maintained. It's a nice-looking place to me. It looks like a nice hotel. The staff that I have dealt with in regard to the director and the person of sales, in my opinion are very highly rated. I would say overall everybody has been very nice, respectful, and communicative. Everybody has been really good. The food has been great. My mom has always called me and told me how well the food has been. They have concerts, and there are certain things that they're trying to do now. In regard to the service that she's getting and the pricing, the place is beautiful. It's a gorgeous place, and the staff has been nice, I would say the value for money is on par. I don't have any questions or concerns about what the price was.

Sunrise of Randolph was great. It was wonderful. The young lady that I spoke to, Natalie, was very knowledgeable and patient. It was a beautiful community. The rooms were very nice. They got upgraded ones that were spectacular. Some of them needed a little updating, but overall they were spacious and accommodating. The dining area looked nice. The food smelled delicious. I did not try it though.

I spoke to a very nice woman at Sunrise of Randolph. The place was beautiful, but my friend is looking for a temporary short-term stay over the winter and most places don't offer that. He's looking to stay in December, January, February, and March, and Sunrise here in Randolph doesn't do that. When I went there, they gave me a background on what they do and the cost model that they're in. I looked in general at the facility and the conversation I had and the people I met were just wonderful, very helpful, very caring, and understood the situation that I explained to him about my friend and his needs. They recommended other places for me to call to see if they did what he was looking for. The place was very pleasant and very clean. In general, the people were just very nice and helpful and good to talk to. It's been an education for me. The facility was excellent. I did see people going back from lunch and they looked very happy. It was a very good experience. The building was very nice.

My husband will be moving to Sunrise of Randolph. I've been passing it for years and years, and I always thought it was a beautiful place. When we went to look at it, it was even really nice. I would recommend it to anybody. We like the activities and the people. Everything is really good, and it's cheaper than the place where my husband is. I only spoke to the woman who was giving us the grand tour. She was very, very informative and took her time. She answered all the questions about how things were going to be. They have an elevator for any person, who's in a wheelchair or walker. It's well-equipped for the type of person who has to be there.

Think about what would cause you to move a parent with Alzheimer’s to a new facility in the middle of a global pandemic…that is indeed the position in which my family found ourselves and the decision we unfortunately had to make. Understanding that no one could have predicted the difficulties that Covid would create for assisted living facilities, I believe that Sunrise Randolph completely failed my mother. When we were finally allowed outdoor visits with my mother after roughly 6 months of lock down, a couple of issues were immediately apparent; she had lost weight (turns out 25 pound off a 150 pound start) Sunrise staff was completely unaware of this weight loss, a tooth was missing (was never advised this by Sunrise – ever), and we were going to be charged an additional fee for additional care for my mother due to her condition worsening during the lockdown. For context, my mother went from having roughly 10 visits per week with family members to zero overnight, we had devised a communication ritual with notes and calendar entries to assist my mother which also disappeared with the lockdown. When I asked for an explanation of the additional care fee, I was advised- that mom required additional questions to be answered, reminders to wear her mask, and re-direction. I guess you would have to decide for yourself if this should be a reasonable expectation of care that would be delivered during a pandemic- or an opportunity for a facility to maximize income from each resident during a pandemic- I know what my feelings are. This was on top of multiple previous issues including: Sunrise advertises that each facility has a resident pet (dog and cat) and despite asking Sunrise to honor this commitment over the last 2 years, no progress was made; unanswered emails from executive director again during a pandemic when this is our only real access to information about how facility is handling various issues; and a corporate standard of a written care plan for each resident which we never received over 3 years. I might also suggest that you understand escalation procedures for families. In our experience it is virtually impossible to find contact information for any executive in the Sunrise corporation. For all of these reasons, I would recommend that you evaluate Sunrise Randolph very carefully before placing a loved one in their care.

I would not recommend this facility. The turnover of key staff members over three years has been very high and the atmosphere is harsh and cold. Although there are caring individuals within Sunrise, the overall approach leaves a lot to be desired. Communication is terrible and the “care” provided during the COVID lockdown resulted in a 25 pound weight loss and broken tooth (neither of which we knew about until we finally got an outside visit).

Sunrise of Randolph was a very nice, clean facility that seemed to be very professionally run. The staff who gave me the tour was knowledgeable about the facility and seemed to know what they were doing. They were doing chair yoga when I visited. The rooms seemed pretty nice.

The place is very nice; however, extremely expensive. I'm not sure what "assisted living" comes with the price of the room, but for my mother, everything she needed help with was an extra charge. Her cost was nearly $10,000 per month! They also made it clear when we filled out the paperwork for her that if she should become unable to pay, they would go after me for the money. Only in my wildest dreams do I have that kind of money. Also we were told when we initially went to look at the facility, that they have an elder care lawyer they use and if my mother needed his services (maybe to see about Medicaid in the future) it would be at no cost to here. We later find out - we were misinformed. They highly encourage you to enroll in auto withdraw from your bank account to pay the monthly fee. Initially we did not do this, but by the time we got the bill and sent the check in, they were tacking on a late fee. We eventually took my mom out of Sunrise because her money was going to be depleted in a few months (she sold her house to move there). Sunrise continued to auto withdraw money for her room after she was no longer a resident. I called and they said it would be refunded in 30 days (ok but she really needs the money). 30 days pass and I contact them again - find out the took out money from her account for another month. Now they owe her for 2 months! I understand issues arise but after notifying them the first time, they should have made sure that it was noted that she no longer lived there. so that the mistake was not repeated. Again - the place is clean, it's nice and they offer a lot of activities for the seniors.

Sunrise is absolutely beautiful, they had a lot of amenities, but they really could not meet her needs. It would have been easier for us to get there, and would have chosen it for the location. They have a beautiful patio that’s shaded, they have different stations where people could go and have some activities, and they offer a lot of activities throughout the day. They seem to have a very nice program. The memory care was a lock unit, and they had their own sitting area upstairs -- which was lovely -- but they did not have much outdoor grounds available.

Sunrise of Randolph is absolutely fine, but the problem is my mother is young and has early Alzheimer's and everyone at the facility is so old. She still has awareness and is in the moment, so she’s not ready for assisted living. Also, it’s extremely expensive. The room is very nice. I didn’t try their food, but the dining room was nice and very clean. They have wine; my mother is Spanish so she has wine for every meal. They have activities and a friendly dog walking around. The apartments probably could have been a little nicer for what they were charging but still nice.

Sunrise of Randolph was very pleasant and bright. I found that the staff was very friendly, caring, and understanding. They also bring some of the residents to our church every Sunday.

My wife is at Sunrise at Randolph last October. I was very satisfied with this place. I like that it's a caring community and they handle the kind of illness my wife has.

The Sunrise of Randolph is located in the northern half of New Jersey and is not too far from the city. While it is not the most impressive assisted living center that I have seen, it is in a great location for anyone living in the metropolitan area who wants to be able to quickly visit an elderly loved one. The Sunrise of Randolph has all the standard amenities found at any good, well maintained assisted living center. There are nice gardens, entertainment rooms, and a salon. The staff members were quite friendly as well. There are always staff members present to look after your loved ones. In addition to assisted living care and basic medical care, the staff members also help keep your loved ones safe. The place really is quite nice. While I have been to nicer places, I would not be unhappy if I were an elderly resident at the Sunrise of Randolph. Overall, 4/5.

When I was first presented the opportunity of visiting an assisted-living facility I was hesitant. I was not very familiar with old people and I was nervous having to deal with them. However my fears were quickly assuaged by the staff of Sunrise and Randolph. These people were truly the kindest, most caring people I had ever met in my life. Assisted-living communities often get a bad wrap by the media as places that people send the elderly just because they don't want to care for them. This could not be further from the truth because the people at Sunrise of Randolph took such good care of the guest there that I would have no problem sending my parents or a member of my family there. Another thing that I really liked about Sunrise Randolph were the facilities. The place was extremely clean, and had a very homey feel. Moreover, the food at Sunrise Randolph was excellent! I would highly recommend this assisted-living community to anyone that was looking for one.

It was an eye-opener trip for me, by visiting this assisted living provider. Starting with the automatic-opening door at the entrance, the facilities were good. The atmosphere was calm and the place was neatly maintained. The elderly are taken care of well, by the staff. The exercise classes, cooking classes and other fitness and recreational programs are set-up to keep the 'seniors' engaged. The menu and the dining facilities are worth mentioning. The personalized services are a blessing for the needy. However, I was totally taken aback when one 'grandfather' there, told me about the vacuum that he feels, in spite of having all other facilities - that he misses his children, grand-children's smile, after coming there. I felt that these people had spent their youth only to raise a family, grow up their kids. Now, once the kids grow up, they go away from their parents - visit them once a while. I felt that, if the elderly stays with their grand-children, their old-age will feel heavenly and wonderful.

Sunrise is a beautiful place both inside and out. When you first walk into the building, it is bright, open, and airy. It definitely invites you in. The dining area made you feel as if you were eating at a restaurant, which is a positive factor for seniors living there who may not be able to go out to a restaurant otherwise. The staff even told us that they are conscious of the food they are serving as many of the residents have dietary restrictions. The gardens in the back were one of the best features and it provided a nice scenery and some welcomed fresh air. The rooms were spacious yet small enough that one can easily care for their space. They also offer many programs for the residents and also for their families to come and experience as well. This was a plus as we wanted our family member to still feel connected even though she would be living in this facility. The only reason why we did not choose this facility was because it was a little costly compared to other options. Otherwise, it was a beautiful place!
